Which organisations have you decided never to use again after poor customer service?

Right I will start. The idea is name and shame and maybe these huge organisations will realise to stop using ridiculous automated telephone services and to stop ripping us off!!!!

Currys - very low level of customer service after our HP printer stopped working as it was 2 months past the warrantee date.
Handy that.
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

That's better, especially now when I phone to complain and tell them I've written all about it on here.

Forgot a BIG thumbsdown too for BT. A very long saga but what a nightmare co. to contact and deal with.

BikeRunSki · 25/03/2010 15:53

Don't like
Asda (too many cock ups on home delivery and substituted meat sausages for veggie ones )
Mothercare
Tiscali
Talk Talk
Primark
Co-Op supermarkets (when i complained that local branch has no trolley which I coudl sit my toddler in, they advised that I went to a larger branch nearly 10 miles away).

Love
British Gas - noticed a long standing error, and refunded us £1300. We even didn't know of error!
Britannia Rescue
John Lewis
Costa (they always bring your tray over to table for you if you have hands full with buggy, baby etc. Has happened, spontaneously in several branches).
Sainsbury's
Amazon
and hate to say it....Boden, have super customer service ime.

gagamama · 25/03/2010 15:53

Agree with Mothercare. Also won't ever use LK Bennett or Venture after reading threads on here.

Pretty peed off with Santander at the moment as NONE of the payments or standing orders I have set up this month have left my account on the first attempt, I have had to repeat eveything 2-3 times and as a result I am nearly a week late on my rent. Just hope that all the payments don't suddenly decide to go through. I am also annoyed that the interest rate on my ISA nosedived to 0.01%, WTF?! I know interest rates in general are shite, but it was a shock to get £19 annual interest on my savings when I was expecting about £600 based on last years rates! I'm sure they informed me in some small print somewhere, but I am still annoyed as NS&I are offering about 2.5%. So its not just the economy.

SerenaSays · 25/03/2010 15:59

Ooooh, great, a name-and-shame thread!

Agree with Curry's. They delivered a washing-machine to my widowed, elderly grandmother and concealed the fact that they'd dropped it and the side had a whacking great dent in. She had tipped the delivery men a fiver and they took it. Luckily we badgered the branch and they reluctantly replaced it, but no proper apology, no return of fiver, and it took over a week for them to get off their backsides and do anything. Bar stewards.

However, my most-loathed by far is the Cotswold Company. Can't relate the full story of why, as my head would explode with remembered rage and indignation, but they were by far the most incompetent and useless bunch of chisellers I have ever dealt with.

Tiscali come a very, very close second.

However, on the bright side, Lakeland is absolutely fab....why can't other companies learn from them?

strandedatsea · 25/03/2010 16:02

British Airways. Stranded us in Dubai with a 9 month and a three-year-old, no information, no help, no nothing - and the call centre was appalling. This was after an overnight flight where we got zero sleep because they kept the cabin lights on for most of the journey and the baby wouldn't sleep. Oh and they lost one of our suitcases. After a day (without sleep) in Dubai we then had a 2nd overnight trip to our final destination - again, very little sleep. Never ever again.

Although of course I have had to fly with them again because sometimes you have no choice.

gagamama · 25/03/2010 16:04

Oops, that should've said 0.1% as the interest rate.

brockyg · 25/03/2010 16:04

Love John Lewis, The Co-operative Bank, The Co-operative Food, Boden for the deliveries and service although clothes sometimes naff, M&S, Churchill insurance have always been good when I've had to claim, M&S for quality and returns, Amazon never let me down.

I did love Ocado but they've let me down a couple of times recently so they're on a yellow card. Hate Tesco for many many reasons but have to admit to occasionally shopping there. E-on boiler care cover was great until we had a recent breakdown and they wanted me to wait 5 days for an engineer, the temperature was zero at the time, not v happy with that, their helpline out of hours is rubbish too, staffed by idiots. When we got Sky+ the guy putting the new dish up was really unhelpful, put it in the wrong place, and they didn't take the old one away which is wrong.

RiverOfSleep · 25/03/2010 16:05

Ocado. Everyone raves about them but I found them continuously useless.

BadGardener · 25/03/2010 16:06

whoever it was I used to have internet access from, but unfortunately I've forgotten who that was.

Tesco screwed up my groceries delivery in 2002 and I am still pissed off. (It was quite spectacular - they kept on cancelling my delivery only each time they did they charged my card for it all over again, then they said they couldn't refund the money for two weeks.)

heronsfly · 25/03/2010 16:12

I love the Halifax,
On christmas eve some b#####d hacked into my online banking and emptied my account, this was at about 1 o/c. The local
manager saw me within half an hour and arranged an extended overdraft to cover me over the christmas holiday.

Hulababy · 25/03/2010 16:15

Asda food shopping online - was rubbish.

Two Left Feet - they were just awful!!!

Not been impressed with Currys recently either. Customer service instore was dreadful. We ended up leaving and went to John Lewis instead.

McBuckers · 25/03/2010 16:17

Mothercare - our local store is awful, the staff are rude and unhelpful and slag off their manager to customers.
On one occasion a Mothercare shop assistant wouldn't let my daughter use the toilet when she was about to wet herself. I was quite angry about this as the company markets itself as a retailer who cares about families and children. Needless to say I went to another shop to buy my daughter some clean clothes.

Tiscali - for taking about 7 months to close my account

I do love Boots, they're usually cheaper than Mothercare, the staff are helpful and you earn those lovely Boots points!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 25/03/2010 16:18

Tesco online shopping- used to like but our food now comes from brand new store and half of it isn't there Also they 'forgot' £8 worth of substitutes that I returned on Tuesday.

M&S-crap customer service for returns these days.

On the good side Liz Earle is always good. Amazon pretty reliable. Cycle Sport, who I ordered from on Saturday delivered on Tuesday.

Argos are pretty good at replacing things that breakdown.

jenniferturkington · 25/03/2010 16:19

Barclays. Whenever we go abroad they freeze our account due to 'irregular activity' e.g. "we noticed your card was used at Gatwick and then at Madrid" er well yes, often people use cards at 2 airports! This has happened at least 10 times (DH works abroad a lot)and each time we swear we will transfer all accounts but have never got around to it.
Also Ryanair, never again.

bronze · 25/03/2010 16:26

AA again after they told myself who was pregnant and a friend plsu our two small children we weren't a priority as motorways take priority. There are no motorways in Norfolk!

Two left feet- need I say more

pc world, mothercare, gltc, ebay

BornToFolk · 25/03/2010 16:30

Anglian Windows. DP was actually contacted Watchdog and they interviewed him but never showed it.
Very old school style sales techniques - quoting you one price, then phoning the manager and getting a "special reduction". Very rude salesman too.

VengefulKitty · 25/03/2010 16:31

There seems to be a theme of the same companies cropping up repeatedly...

My ones to add to the list of NEVER use again:

BA - From booking flight to landing the other side, every member of staff, inc. cabin crew, looked miserable and had the attitude to match. Irritating, unhelpful and depressing. Each and every time. Last time I flew with them was 1996.

Amazon - I know people who love this site, but every time I order something, I get told it is on stock, I pay, I get confirmation... then an email saying out of stock for 6 weeks or so!!! Grrrr.

Sony - OMFG. There are no words other than extremely offensive expletives. Never, ever in my remaining period of time to live, will I purchase anything sony. And I actively make noise to friends and acquaintances urging them not to if they hope for any kind of customer service and decent product.

Orange and O2 for falsely trying to claim money off me. They both resorted to threatening court and would not listen to anything I had to say. Until I went a step further with legal advice and Trading Standards and they both actually owed me money.

Thieving Scum, the lot of them!!

potplant · 25/03/2010 16:44

Oli.co.uk - they sent me my order in two parts, the skirt in one order and the top to go with it in another order about 3 weeks later. When I sent both back together cos it was long past the date I needed it for they charged overdue admin fee for the first item. When I complained that it wasn't my fault that it didn't come together they cancelled the charge but my next invoice showed that I defaulted on the payment and charged me interest. Even though they cancelled the default fee they still said I owed them the interest. This went on for 6 months.

Tiscali - Generally crap broadband service and then they carried on charging me for the service after we had been disconnected. Even arguing that we were still using it despite them picking the box up.

I love Lakeland - I ordered a plug that was completely the wrong size. I phoned them up and they sent me a new one - no extra delivery charge and told me to donate the other one to charity.

Tesco are mostly OK - Once my delivery was 2 hours late. Everytime I phoned up they sent me a £10 voucher by way of apology. I had £40 in vouchers by the end of the night and another £10 the following day! Don't think they intended to do that but I was grateful!

solongpumpkin · 25/03/2010 16:48

The biggest offenders:

Mothercare (again) went to a shop only last week for 'hassle free' refund on online order only to be told 'oh we don't take back maternity stuff'. Then asked if there was a lift to 1st floor. Woman says 'no but you can leave (sleeping in buggy ds) him here. (downstairs full of people). Why would you have no lift when you have a shop frequented mainly by buggy users? Service always really slow even in empty shop and kids clothes overpriced. Now decided not to bother going back.

Orange - can't even begin to get into the problems i had with them which never got resolved in the end cos i just gave up.

Santander sports or whatever its called. DH knows but i stopped listening to his rants about them.

Mamasandpapas - stuff is style and no substance (have got travel systems, buggies and high chairs all completely impractical). Also had lots of problems with a buggy which they were rubbish at sorting out and ended up throwing it away.

The best:
John Lewis - excellent service, impartial advice if looking at pushchairs
Mamanjojobebe - good refunds/returns when sent stuff back, even when postman tossedsomething over the gate and it broke.

Itsjustafleshwound · 25/03/2010 16:59

Thumbs up:
Lakeland - I ordered an unsuitable radiator dryer - I phoned to return it, but they refunded me my money and told me to donate it to charity.
M&S
John Lewis

Baddies:
PSP - Tennis sports shop in Southfields: My husband wanted to buy a pr of shoes - the chap couldn't tear his eyes away from the TV to help us find the correct sizing
Tiscali - appalling service and now part of carphone warehouse .. grrrr
South African Airways: screwed up my honeymoon royally and would only agree to refund me the price of my phone calls ...

fanjolina · 25/03/2010 17:07

Mothercare
Blooming Marvellous
Carphone Warehouse
London Electricity/EdF

BosomsByTheSea · 25/03/2010 17:09

ARGOS DIRECT

UNSPEAKABLY AWFUL

BosomsByTheSea · 25/03/2010 17:12

And the good...

Amazon

Unspeakably marvellous. (Especially their returns policy)

BlameItOnTheBogey · 25/03/2010 17:12

Worst;
Abbey/Santander/whatever they are calling themselves. Lost my house deposit I invested with them, took a year to find it all the while telling me I should have been more careful with my money (did apologise in the end though).

Best
Ocado; bless the man appearing through the snow at 8pm on Christmas eve with my delivery. He apologised for being late and then said he had to crack on as he had 16 more deliveries and he was determined to make them all despite the weather.
