Which organisations have you decided never to use again after poor customer service?

Right I will start. The idea is name and shame and maybe these huge organisations will realise to stop using ridiculous automated telephone services and to stop ripping us off!!!!

Currys - very low level of customer service after our HP printer stopped working as it was 2 months past the warrantee date.
Handy that.
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

That's better, especially now when I phone to complain and tell them I've written all about it on here.

Definately Npower, they spent 12 months trying to get me to pay a gas bill they sent me despite me pointing out to them that I did not have a gas supply to the house.

They sent it to debt collectors!

confusedfirsttimemum · 25/03/2010 14:17

Lovely - John Lewis (obv!), Liz Earle, Boden. Amazon always very efficient.

Will never touch again: Halifax. I told them three times when I changed my name on marriage and they never managed to process it. Gave up in the end.

Post Office loans - our application went into a seeming black hole of incompetence.

Barclaycard - after they allowed some faudster to change my home address without requiring any identification or proof whatsoever and he spent a good few grand on my card, whilst getting the statement sent to this random address.

fabhead · 25/03/2010 14:17

oh yes, and amazon

Will echo everyone hating Mothercare - their service in store is really awful. I hate going in there.

Tesco's are on my thumbs down list too - when my son was born prematurely my husband bought a Tesco brand breast pump from them which never worked - due to being most unwell and trying to spend every spare minute in the hospital with ds, we didn't return it within the allotted time but they would not refund the money. No matter the circumstances. blah blah. I was very very . And still am!

Bucharest · 25/03/2010 14:24

Oh, yes, BA- when I couldn't get their wanky website to accept my details, (booking in one country for a flight leaving from another sent it into cyber-meltdown) I rang them up and jokingly said "Oh, how on earth does one get your website to work" and young feller me lad on the phone gave me a bollocking, said unless I changed my tone I could forget about a BA ticket...I hung up on him. Then burst into tears and booked Ryanair.

thumbwitch · 25/03/2010 14:30

They're getting very strict with their anti-abuse stance, these airlines - here in Oz I've been watching a show called Airline, about an Aussie budget airline called Tiger - they're always chucking people off planes or refusing to check them in because the people are abusive to staff. I'm not tempted to fly Tiger any time soon (not because I'm naturally abusive but because they seem to be pretty shite)

TulipsInTheRain · 25/03/2010 14:33

Misco - online computer website... appalling service

Cost Plus Sofas - idiotic company

CD Wow - dd's christmas dvds ended up being her birthday dvds

MimieD · 25/03/2010 14:38

Sky is on top of my worst list! Hate dealing with them...which I need to do a lot as their HD box is shite! Cannot wait till Virgin media is in our area so we can switch!

Best is definitely John Lewis, Ocado, Amazon; used them loads and never had any issues dealing with their Client services.

ShrinkingViolet · 25/03/2010 14:39

Toys R Us - took them to court to get a refund, and had to set bailiffs onto them before they paid up.

HSBC who had a signatory listed as living at the branch and wouldn't change the mandate until they provided ID which matched their records, which left us without banking facilities.

Floopy21 · 25/03/2010 14:41

Tulip, I just had a lovely shopping experiance with Misco - Thought I should share, it only seems fair to them!

Also echo Lakeland/J.Lewis for superb customer service...you pay for it though.

Blu · 25/03/2010 14:42

In our local Mothercare the staff can be heard gossping loudly amongst themselves about rows and dubious exploits with boyfreinds, with 'fuck' as avery other word.

Not appropriate.

Saltire · 25/03/2010 14:51

I have to add the Book people to the good list. I ordered some books just before christmas, came home to find them on the doorstep, in a ripped padded envelope - which I thought was odd, as all previous orders had came in boxes. 6 books were squashed into this padded env, all the covers were creased and some were torn. I rang them up and they replaced the whole lot, and didn't even want the damaged ones back, they told me to take them to a charit shop so someone else could benefit.
Turns out the couriers had damged the box, so decided to put them in teh envelope instead

ShadeofViolet · 25/03/2010 14:51

Blu - ours too! Lat time I was in there two girls behind the counter were talking about thier manager , how she was a 'stuck up bitch' blah blah blah.

claricebeansmum · 25/03/2010 14:52

Obviously thumbs up to John Lewis, Ocado, Waitrose, Amazon and hundred of smaller shops and businesses which deliver brilliant service.

Thumbs down - Lloyds TSB who after a call lasting 49 mins I actually cried.

All garages - I may be a woman but I am not thick, know when I am being fleeced and understand the principles behind the internal combustion engine so don't patronize me.

Saltire · 25/03/2010 14:54

I'd like to add
Prudential
lloyds TSB and
The Financial Ombudsman to the list of companies providing crap service

TabithaTwitchet · 25/03/2010 15:28

Stagecoach buses. I vowed about 8 years ago never to use them again, after being subjected to unbelievable rudeness from drivers on 4 separate occasions.

Sadly we moved house and I have to use them again as they are the only bus service locally. The drivers are (on the whole) more polite here, but the fares are still extortionate and the timetable completely fictional, they are never on time :-(

wahwahwah · 25/03/2010 15:34

Naughty List:
British Gas (biggggg fight with them when they threatened to cut us off because I had apparently not let the man in to read the meter - hmmmmmm strange considering the day he supposedly came I had the decorators in and the front door was open all day).

British Airways - nasty lady at the customer check in desk for menacing my aged auntie because she only had a couple of months left on her passport and an open ticket (for an connecting flight). They had no problems letting her into the country - nor selling her another ticked for £600. I managed not to say anything until the 'lovely' lady at customer desk eyeballed me (who had been told to stay away from the desk with my back turned by DH - in case I got into a barney with her) and snarled 'DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM???'. I still remember her name.

McDreamy · 25/03/2010 15:37

BA

Cafe Rouge in Marlborough

Great Little Trading Company

MrsJohnDeere · 25/03/2010 15:41

GLTC
Mothercare
TwoLeftFeet (although we're past the baby stage so I wouldn't really need to. Do they still even exist?).
Clarks

Also avoid if at all possible:
M&S
WH Smith
Boots
PC World

because their customer service is so poor. I'm sure this varies between branches though with these stores.

purpleturtle · 25/03/2010 15:46

npower - for being far too reluctant to give back money they'd over-collected

Halifax - the changes to their system for calculating interest on overdrafts was the final straw

Am now very happily banking with Co-operative

bibbitybobbityhat · 25/03/2010 15:47

I'd never buy a Samsung fridge/freezer again.

Ikea.

Co-Op Bank.

scrappydappydoo · 25/03/2010 15:48

Oh yes Lloyds tsb - who decided (just on a whim) to change my details back to my maiden name and previous address that I had moved from 3 years earlier. Luckily it was my mums house so I knew pretty quick - but they did it twice. I closed my account and am now with smile who are brill.

mackerel · 25/03/2010 15:48

CURRYS. dreadful. They delivered a dishwasher with a massive great dent in the door and were then next to impossible to contact and terrible at replacing it.
Also the Great Little Trading Company. Very unhelpful when picture arrived with broken glass - not packed in anything at all to protect it. was a b'day present and have to say they didn't worry about taking weeks to send another also not wrapped in protective stuff).
Sainsburys - however - fantastic. I ordered a thomas cake for DS's 2nd b'day and when I went to collect it it hadn't come. they contacted another store and had it delivered to me within 2 hours. Amazing service.
