I would hate for the school to know when they offered no support. This must be for areas where the sitting the test is integrated into school practice

Pipsquiggle · 26/09/2025 06:58

BBQCF · 25/09/2025 22:29

Bucks headteachers find out the day before parents get results, and some heads will share with Y6 staff, depending on SLT.

@BBQCF really? I didn't know this.

God I wish I could stop thinking about this bloody test.

I genuinely can't believe in other counties / boroughs that there aren't clear communicated deadlines of when you'll hear the results by - complete madness.

No school support is offered in Kent for the test but headteachers can appeal results if they feel that a child who hasn’t passed by 1 or 2 marks is suitable for grammar. They have to provide evidence (CAT scores, work from Y5 etc…) and a written statement so schools find out early so that process can be done and assessed BEFORE parents find out.

SFV · 26/09/2025 07:11

I guess it's wishful thinking to get Latymer results today?

trying29 · 26/09/2025 07:13

but in Kent you sit the test in your primary school. In Sutton, the primary has nothing to do with the test. We don't even do CAT tests in our area.

I was wondering the same.

I feel like i just want to know one way or the other... i need to start thinking about schools to list on CAF and what order etc. We've done a few state schools open days this week and I feel like until I know the last few results, I'm just living in limbo! We officially have last exam tomorrow - can't bloody wait!

MamaKiwi · 26/09/2025 08:04

@SFV I keep reading your username as ‘Safe For Vegans’ and it is making me smile. Regarding your final exam tomorrow - will we see you at Radley..? We are taking a train up and staying over tonight. Good luck with your final exam, whatever it may be!

@Tiredlady1 oh I hate that the school knows and (presumably) won’t tell me. I don’t begrudge them because they were actually rather good in helping us prepare, wholly unasked - they sent me a cracking gap analysis when I mentioned that they were sitting the tests, for example - but it’s hard to to look them in the eye knowing that they know and I don’t! Brutal. 😀

No, we have round 2 of Dame Alice Owens... a bit of a long shot, but she'll give it a good go! Good luck at Radley!

MamaKiwi · 26/09/2025 08:31

Thank you!! Best of luck with DAO!

Lamarais · 26/09/2025 08:39

Round 2 DAO for us too tomorrow. Can’t wait for it to be done with.

I really hate how close the results are to the CAF deadline. DAO results are October 24th so literally one week to make final decisions. It doesn’t feel like enough time.

Also it’s so weird to me how some areas release results to the head before the parents. Our school have done very little to prep kids for grammar, all the work has been at home. I’d be so cross if they found out before me 😂

Purpletoes · 26/09/2025 08:52

Last exam for us today as well. An afternoon session so dd has gone into school till 11 as she wanted to do her clarinet lesson. Not sure how she will do in it as since the previous 2 its been hard to get her to do much prep.

She isnt that fussed on this school but it is our local one which would be good from a travel point of view.

We have a fun day planned tomorrow in town doing the Westminster mile with friends which is a nice way to end the long slog

Yes I think if you sit it at school then the school would see the results. Similarly to how you describe the Sutton test is our experience too, the school isnt even aware of which tests DS sat.

Fingers crossed for you all receiving results today .

HotDogFury · 26/09/2025 09:04

I heard that after for Stage 2 Sutton SET they pass between 700-1100 boys and around 1000 girls for roughly just over 450 places in total for boys and 420 places for girls. Anyone know if these numbers are broadly correct?

Also, does anyone know how many boys and girls they typically pass for Stage 1?
trying to gauge some of the number in play here

It’s only because Kent is a grammar school county. About 20-30% of kids go. It’s not a DAO situation 😂

good luck all round 2’er for tomorrow 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

yes that’s about correct. Around 50% pass stage1 out of ~3000 boys and ~2500 girls

I’m a primary school secretary! So spent my day stealing and photocopying books 😂and gathering info for appeals.

I was about to say that the workbooks disappearing from class means the school has the Kent Test results - we had a grumpy DD this time last year who wasn't impressed that she was having to work on bits of paper as "the office staff took all our books" 😂

Good luck to all those waiting on results - last year the Kent Test emails started arriving early afternoon on the 17th October. It was a very long day! If anyone has also done the Shepway Test, those results were posted early on the same day at about 10am.

MamaKiwi · 26/09/2025 10:01

@Pigsteperis thank you for the intel! We sat Shepway. I hadn’t realised the results would come separately, what a long wait it must be for the parents of children who didn’t pass Shepway, to know whether they are through with the Kent… 😱

We had that exact situation in my DD's friendship group. It was such a nervous wait for that particular mum as there was about a 6 hour gap between results - passing Kent but not Shepway is quite unusual. Thankfully the children were all blissfully unaware as they were off on a residential with no contact possible!

Shepway results for us were through the Applicaa system - the results came online quite a while before the email notification arrived, so my obsessive webpage refreshing was vindicated!

And yes, the school will know and will not give you any indication at all. It was very odd knowing that they knew and we didn't. I think it was only the Head and Deputy that knew, class teachers weren't informed until the results were officially released.

Pipsquiggle · 26/09/2025 10:50

After all this 11+ insanity has passed, I would love to know, by area/school, if the number of DC taking the tests has gone up (probably due to the VAT on private schools).

This year feels totally different to a few years ago when DC1 took it.

i think it was over 6500 children this year - my son had a candidate number over 6500..

I don’t think candidate numbers mean anything. My DD has a number over 9000 😂

but I think its fewer than 50% who go through - particularly for the boys schools, and Wilsons. We were told its something closer to a third.
I wouldnt be surprised if it was 6000 given the numbers of kids we saw on the day.
