And we are done just the long wait for results.
Bexley early oct
Kent 16th
Newstead between 17th and 23rd

Sportie7 · 26/09/2025 12:40

I would love to know this too.

In what way does it feel different? First timer here!

Dadsbabe · 27/09/2025 09:02

Waiting is horrible, just want to know the result and close the lid on forever🤣

MamaKiwi · 27/09/2025 10:36

Radley is insane. I have made a very nice new parent friend with a daughter on scholarship at Cheltenham Ladies, and dragged her through the fields to a farm shop where they sell paper-wrapped spaghetti.

So I live in catchment for Bucks but in a neighbouring borough (I live less than 2 miles from the closest Grammar so literally just over the border from Bucks). All the local primary schools are 'partner schools' so you can take the 11+ in your primary school, you can opt in to take the 11+.
3 years ago, 15 DC took the test. This year nearly the whole class took the test so a significant increase.
Obviously this is anecdotal but if this is part of a trend, there could be a lot more DC taking the test. TBH I am not sure if this helps my DC or not

Ah yes I see. I’m in Kent and defo an increase in kids taking it. I personally think (hope!) its a good thing as hopefully the scores have a larger spread? Who knows!

I was expecting ' VAT on school fees' to increase the number of girls who wrote SET last year, but the number actually decreased (not by much mind you). So I am just wandering if we will see an increase this year.

Lamarais · 27/09/2025 13:44

I’m also interested in this data. Or whether private school pupils will take places at Grammar when they previously may have sat it for practice and then passed the place in favour of an independent school.

Anyway. We are done. DAO Round 2 complete. How did other kids find it today??

Now the (unnecessarily) long wait for results.

Magnificentkitteh · 27/09/2025 14:45

Well done Lamarais! And anyone else sitting DAO round 2. How did they get on?

DD is at brownie camp this weekend so we have not done any prep for HB round 2. Tbh I'm thinking of keeping it chilled. I don't really know what we'd actually be studying and I think just giving her loads of v difficult practice papers is likely to knock her confidence rather than get her to perform her best at this point. She's practised English and maths generally over the course of the year and she's very good at maths so am hoping that's enough. It would help my nerves if I could get Latymer results soon though. Even though it's only rank 1 and indication of the direction of travel would help

Have had an absolute rollercoaster of a week with my mum's health and am totally done in. Mouth ulcers, blepharitis etc.

FitnessIsTheOnlyWealth · 27/09/2025 14:57

I know of a number of girls/boys who got but did not take their seats at top London grammars (in favour of top indie schools). Many of those parents now wish they had gone with the grammar after 1 year of VAT added fees. I’m sure this trend will reverse this year (sadly). And it seems to be the same kids who get good marks in both pools!

Did your daughter sit stage 2 Sutton today? How did she find it? Just curious ahead of the boys exam next week

We did DAO round 2 today. Feedback from DD is that it was very hard - maths was much harder than EPP!

I would hate for the school to know when they offered no support. This must be for areas where the sitting the test is integrated into school practice

In Kent our schools already have the results. We don’t know until 16th October. they had zero input towards the exams other than it being held in their hall. No teaching and not even advice on whether they should do it or not beyond sending CAT tests results home

FitnessIsTheOnlyWealth · 27/09/2025 17:51

@trying29 yes she did and she found it easier than EPP and Examberry which we had prepped. Couple of tricky questions, otherwise straightforward.

Oh gosh that's annoying it's for so long!

Well done all who gave the exams their best shot.

Actually DD has St Mary Magdalene on Friday as well. Have given no thought to how to get her there. My boss is going to be fed up with me, I've had so much time off to deal with my mum already. At least HB is on my normal non working day.

Fingers crossed for Friday. It's so tough when there is so much happening. Im not sure how us women in particular are meant to deal with work and all what life has to throw at us. Hopefully the results will be a bit of light.

My son said the English was really hard but the maths was easy 😱 hope he hasn’t totally mis-read the questions!

Reassuring isn’t it 😂 he is good at maths and English definitely his weakest area so it may just be that. Fingers crossed for them both.

KnickerlessFlannel · 27/09/2025 19:34

Hi everyone, i've only just seen this pop up on my feed. Dd has done the Medway 11+ and also the gads hill scholarship test - has anyone else done that one? Annoyingly I didn't realise that some of our schools accept the Kent test too which leans more towards dd's strengths (still in clues creative writing), so I'm kicking myself.
