Hope everyone is enjoying their summer holidays! If anyone knows of a parents' Whatsapp group for the year 10s starting in August - can you please private message me? It would be great to link up.

Me too please

Autumnleavescolors · 10/09/2025 07:10

Hi all. Hope the kids that started this year are enjoying it; my daughter seems very happy. Got a couple of questions:

How do you top up the account for school lunches?

Is there a parent’s WhatsApp group for year 10?

Hi!
You top up lunch account via the wisepay app. There was an email how to link it up.

I asked about WhatsApp but haven't found one yet... there's a couple more parents here interested in one but I don't know if I want to set it up myself. Ive got a lot of WhatsApp groups on the go for her siblings already 😀

Shall we set one up?..

Thank you. Will check for the email.

What is your child doing about lunches? My daughter says the queues are long so taking pack lunch.

I am also having second thoughts reg the WhatsApp group. Perhaps it will be organised in the bbq next week; unfortunately I double booked myself and can’t go but my husband is going

Ok. That is good to know. I will setup the wisepay app. Does she get breakfast and snack at school? Or have breakfast at home and bring the snack.

Yes I can - if you send me your number by PM. I have set one up just now and there’s only me in it so far 🤣🤣🤣

Hi,
could anyone who went for FMP let me know the process, we are applying this year - I know it’s application then workshop and interview however saw on TikTok someone say then after that is a showreel/portfolio and a essay.

congrats to all your children who got in!

Croydongal75 · 17/09/2025 10:40

We had the application form, then they asked for a reference. Then asked for an essay question and portfolio. After this she was invited to the workshop and interview which was on the same day.

Hi everyone,
Congratulations to all the students and parents who are starting at The BRIT School this year!
My daughter plans to apply to the Music strand for Year 10 entry next year. She's a singer and also plays the piano.

I'd be so grateful if any parents whose children got into the school could share some insights on the level of musicianship their kids had at the time of application. For example, any information on singing or instrument grades, music theory knowledge, composition proficiency, and sight-reading or aural skills would be really helpful.

Additionally, if you have any tips on creating an impressive portfolio, we'd love to hear them!

Thanks in advance for your time and help!

My daughter is not doing music there so can’t advise; however I think doing the Saturday school may help a bit.

My daughter got a place on offer day on the music course this year for year 10 primarily for vocals- she is a singer -song writer and also plays the piano- they look for performing experience, passion and raw talent not grades as she is only at grade 2 for all including music theory- but some of her other friends with grade 5+ that she knows did not get places. They need to be at least grade 2 in theory to pass the music theory entry test though- she also did BRIT kids on Saturdays for 3 years and the holiday clubs- that helps but d

@Brit2025 many thanks for sharing your experience. This is very helpful information.

Autumnleavescolors · 01/10/2025 09:13

Does anyone of you receive any communications/emails from the Brit School? I have not received anything since DD started, which may be a good thing.

What strand are you in? In DA and we've had quite a few emails on various things. They had a school trip, some info on upcoming dates and webminar invites - have you not had any of those?

Wontonsoup1 · 01/10/2025 14:06

My daughter is in VAD and we’ve had quite a few emails, including one this week about the open day next week (and the kids working from home). It sounds like you might have been missed off their email list, might be worth getting in touch with the school x

Okeil · 20/03/2026 16:13

My Daughter has just got a place on the VAD post 16 I couldnt be any happier, she has been in hospital all week and this is the best news ever. Congratulations to all 😆

Hi there, I'm hoping you're DC have had a successful year so far! My DD is joining yr10 music this September so hoping someone can reassure a mum that's having severe last minute panic attacks over things I've recently heard :( we have been so excited and over the moon to secure a place but recently I've been told that the drug culture at the brit is fierce with some children doing Class A drugs in the toilets! Has anyone come across this or heard anything like this? I'm obviously concerned and hoping its just rumours 😞

I think drug problem is relevant for any school. As an example, my DD is in grammar school for girls (very competitive to get a place there) and last year on their residential trip a few girls took drugs and after that their behaviour was so bad, that accompanied teachers were hurt, girls were out of control, police and ambulance were called. Would I send my younger girls in there? Yes! As the school is great.

Ejulesd · 11/05/2026 17:47

Hi, no haven't heard anything like that at all at BRIT. My daughter said that she has never seen or heard that anyone is doing drugs at school.
