Hi, my daughter has also been offered a place for Sept 2025 which is amazing and she is over the moon as this has been her dream since she was 10. We were supportive of her application but after hearing about the curriculum changes and now only being able to pick one option (that also isn't guaranteed) we aren't so sure its the right choice as she is also academic. I am very aware how competitive the industry is and am worried about her limiting her options at such an early age. It also seems that the options on offer won't be confirmed until after you accept the place.

HU ED20=- I had the same dilemma as my DD is currently an academic scholar at her school- but tbh going to Brit has always been her dream and her happiness is the most important thing to me- I trust that she will still do well in her GCSE's at the Brit so am supporting her decision- but it's a personal decision for you and your DD.

My daughter has accepted a place on MT strand for September 😊

Emilyh91xxxx · 25/03/2025 12:12

Has anyone got a place from reserve list yet ?

LarryUnderwood · 26/03/2025 19:22

Nope. I've decided to mentally sort of cut it off really as I think the likelihood is so small, I want DS to commit to his current school instead and then if a place does magically appear then we'll have a choice to make. But I am a pessimist at heart...

DDqueen40 · 27/03/2025 06:58

I think they take a while anyway to go through all the appeals and then they see how many places are left. Am
waiting for a KS5 place and have no idea how likely it is so just trying not to think about it. DC is pretty happy with their back up and there seems to be a few more options at 16 than at 14.

Cheermum28 · 28/03/2025 10:28

We’re still waiting for a yes or no for film and media production What sort of times did you get your emails the wait is making me feel sick

BusyWriter · 28/03/2025 12:45

We were told to expect to wait around 4 weeks at the workshop but ended up hearing within two weeks - seems to vary by strand though. Good luck. The waiting game is a tough one to play.

Croydongal75 · 28/03/2025 15:26

My DD has just got on the reserve list for FMP.

Congratulations.

I imagine some people have been put off by the change in the curriculum. It works for DD though

Yay he got accepted for FMP!!

Croydongal75 · 28/03/2025 15:54

My older DD went to Brit for VAD left last year and from experience 2-3 get in on the reserve list. I know this is a different strand but I think it would be similar. I think she just has to push it to the back of her mind and see how it goes. Her friend also got on the reserve list. I was under the impression that there would be only 5-6 on it anyway. So we will see.

my D got a place for sixth form but I’m worried it will limit her options due to not offering A levels - she has 14 days to make decision- does anyone know if it’s a good idea as without A Levels this could jeopardise her future - I don’t know anyone who works in that industry but imagine jobs are few and far between

DD did sixth form MT a few years back and also took A level English Literature. As well as drama school applications she also put a couple of standard English Literature corses on her UCAS form. She got offers for both, including Bristol University. Several in her year decided to go the conventional degree route and were very successful in their applications to prestigious courses including law.

Remember also that if they go to drama school on the degree programmes they get a degree that qualifies them for many graduate trainee programmes. I’ve heard of many instances where these graduates have been very successful in applying for these programmes as they are seen as being very determined and having a great work ethic.

JTro · 31/03/2025 09:35

Hi everyone! Congratulations for all who got their offers! Fingers crossed for those who are on the waiting list!
I just curious about IDD course for 16+ entry, as my DD is planning to apply for next year. Is it not so popular strand?
Looking at the all discussions on Mumsnet,t here are hardly anyone mentioned IDD course.

Wimbomum · 31/03/2025 14:01

The information about where these courses can lead is v helpful and interesting - thank you!

Hi all, to those that appealed my DD recieved her outcome today for the dance strand. They did not accept her appeal

Ejulesd · 08/04/2025 10:56

Sorry to hear that 😞 Hope she's not too disappointed x

Don't be too disappointed - as far as I know they really don't accept anyone on appeal unless there was something that meant you didn't do as well such as a death in the family or you were sick on the day of audition.

Hello all! To anyone doing theatre strand year 10, is there anything that needs to be done apart from the acceptance? We received the options email but seems that was just for info at the moment? We never went to the welcome evening…

Yes in the options booklet is a link to actually select the option and a second and third choice- from memory you have until 24 April to select the option. Additionally if you haven’t already done it you will need to complete the detailed student information form (as well as the acceptance form)
