@Autumnleavescolors Thank you!
we both received the email. You then need to log on to their account and accept the interview/workshop.

Pixie2025 · 23/01/2025 16:14

@Brit2025 thank you 🙏
gosh the end of March will be a tough wait for theatre and music kids, crikey!

my husband just said they aim to tell you within 2 weeks. Apparently they said this at the open evening - I can’t remember tbh, peri menopause in full swing here haha
this was the IDD chat so probably different for the other strands

Brit2025 · 23/01/2025 22:43

Let’s hope they are faster with their decisions this year than last year!

Elifee · 25/01/2025 16:44

Hi,

just checking to see if anyone received an e-mail yet? Thank you

Autumnleavescolors · 25/01/2025 17:10

Nothing yet here either- my DD had her friend over today -DD’s friend is also a singer applying for the music strand and also hasn’t heard anything yet- and she knows three others applying for MT apparently none of them have heard anything yet either- I think we may hear this week!
best of luck everyone!

Ejulesd · 26/01/2025 10:44

We haven't heard anything yet either for theatre. Just hoping for the best as DD desperate to at least have an invite to the audition 🙏

Emilyh91xxxx · 28/01/2025 08:42

Hi my dd has applied for mt not heard anything yet , they said at the open day they try to see all children in the catchment area hoping this hasn’t given my dd false hope that she will atleast get to the workshop stage !!

Hi,

sorry for your son’s friend 😞 was she in the catchment area? Wish her best of luck for her future and good luck to your son.

Brit2025 · 28/01/2025 10:37

Nothing yet either way for music as far as I am aware - gosh this wait is stressful! Best of luck to all the DC!

OdiMama22 · 28/01/2025 16:50

My DD say someone from school got an email today saying her application was unsuccessful, she applied for MT.
Hoping that means we'll start receiving Messages soon.

My DD has applied for the VAD strand anyone else?

Autumnleavescolors · 28/01/2025 17:57

Nothing yet; it seems they are just declining musical theatre for the moment. Probably too many applications to offer everyone a workshop interview.

Just wanted to wish everyone good luck 🍀 . My daughter has applied for the FMP strand but we are out of catchment so we know her chances are very slim. We haven’t heard yet our deadline was the 8th January and our friend who is applied for the same but 16+ heard today that she has been invited to the workshop stage even though her deadline was a week later than ours ! Our other friend who applied for KS4 FMP last year heard back two days after the deadline so no idea how they were working through these applications but hope it’s not much longer until we hear one way or another 🙏🏻

Hey Guys.

Wishing all your wonderful talented children good luck with their applications. My daughter has been at the Brit School since 2022 (music strand) and is currently reapplying for 6th form. Would be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the interview, the school etc. 😊

Hi Rochestemum
thanks so much - it 🙏 would be amazing to understand the format of the music KS4 interview- how long did each part of the interview take - was there just one solo performance- or more? what form did the listening and aural test take ?

Heeeey.

I know it seems so scary for them but they really do put you at ease and actually is quite a fun couple of hours. My daughter loved it. When you get invited for interview they give you 5 questions to answer, these are asked in the interview.

So when you get there, 15 minutes before your allocated time they give you a practice room to warm up (she is a singer) then they take you down to the music rooms where your child will go in on their own and perform for them ( a music teacher and another like maths ) , it's one song no longer than 4 minutes, it is the same for other instruments too.

Then in that room they do the other tests too (you wait outside and can hear everything) once they are done they call the parents in for the "interview" this is very chilled and to the point they don't really have time for chit chat as so many applications!!! They will ask your child the questions and then ask you how you will travel to school, to explain any absences if their attendance isn't over 96% !

Then after this your child is taken up stairs to a class room where they will do a music theory test ( my daughter said this was very basic level 2 theory work so maybe get your child to have a look on line and refresh)

You can get a coffee from the canteen whilst you are waiting, it's about 30 minutes after that we went home. Was there for 2 hours in total.

We had our interview on the 1st of March and found out she got her spot on the 5th of April !

We were told in the interview as we are out of area that the chances are very slim and to not be disappointed if she didn't get accepted. They accept 25 pupils for music strand, these include voice, instruments and production. In her year there was 13 singers

One thing they seemed impressed with was that we got references from everyone that taught her. So we got them from her singing teachers, her performing arts school, head of year, form tutor etc. They didn't ask for these but we took them anyway. She also wrote all her answers on flash cards which they encourage, it deffo helped her not rush her answers and feel at ease with it all.

Hope that helps ?

Thank you; this is very helpful. Can you please clarify reg the 5 questions and interview. Were they given on the day or beforehand when you got the invitation? As you said you wrote the answers in flashcards?
