@bizzey - please don’t feel like that, we’re all here for each other. I’ve dipped in/out/lurked - but it’s just good to know that we and the thread all get what we’re going through Flowers

I think we will try and buy suit, not hire (they are not wearing DJs, just suits)
We managed to get out of the limo!

bizzey Thanks for the link. They have a gym in our city and I know a couple of DCs that would really enjoy that.

Thanks bizzy for the link, I think DS will be interested, and we would never have otherwise known. I will text it to him now.

Think I'm the only one so far who has an unimpressed DD re AQA Higher.

Says it was too vague, no opportunity to show deeper knowledge? ie she's revised for little gain. Moles question which shouldn't be on this paper, although it's not written in stone that other topics can't come up.

She got a 9 in this exam in mocks. Don't think that's the case this time. Sad Feel for her as it was the paper she was most looking forward to, and an A Level choice.

Bimkom · 12/06/2019 13:03

Yes MaddieElla DS wasn't impressed that there was a question that should have been on paper 1. At least with Edexcel maths they make it clear that any part of the spec can appear on any paper (so instead they have to take from AQA further maths!)

I think DSwas just relieved after maths yesterday

Coming in late ... poor ds had maths and history yesterday. He was content with maths despite most here hating it but was really upset with history. It's his other favourite and predicted a 9 so don't know if this is a completely crashed and burned upset or just didn't do quite as well as he thought upset. He's not much for talking. He's got chemistry and German today so this week is just a slog. He's exhausted and won't finish until next Monday. If he sleeps for the rest of next week it might not be a bad thing!

Iambuffy · 12/06/2019 13:27

Ds was disappointed in the edexcel history paper yesterday too.

He didnt feel he could show the depth of his knowledge.

Fab link re: gym, thanks! Have just sent it to ds.

AQA chemistry "fine". Maths yesterday "fine". Everybody, I can end the speculation about geog tomorrow and physics Friday, they too will be "fine".

Roll on Friday!

😂we get 'ok' everything is 'ok'! It's so frustrating! We got our o-grade papers to take away with us, I'm sure my parents had a look at them. The only way I know anything is via twitter!
German this afternoon. 2 shortish papers but they will go into lockdown halfway through while the foundation people do their listening. It means she won't get out til 4:10. I really hope it goes well - she loves German but listening is by far her weakest paper. Will be on tenterhooks waiting for her to come home!
Bizzey thanks for the gym link. Nowhere close to us unfortunately but it's a great offer.
This thread has been the only positive thing to come out of GCSEs! I've really enjoyed getting to 'know' you and hearing your dc's feelings and experiences. Hopefully it'll continue as we make the scary 6th form journey🤞

just as an aside, I am organising something in the summer with volunteers and one of the younger ones hasn't got back to me at all over anything, just the occasional - yes I'm still here email. I was wondering how to chase him yesterday when I twigged, he is 16!
I think I might get more response next week!
Poor lamb is up to his ears in GCSEs!

Yes dd said there were maths based questions that should have been on the first paper (shes aqa not edexcel apparently- mother fail)

Bizzy incompetent at links & pretty much anything tech related here too!
AQA went really well here, easier than previous chemistry but also commented on the rogue question from the previous paper.
She’s gone up to the yard to stay the night then back for a recap on physics then she’s done! A whole summer of horses planned for her then, I really hope parties don’t take over as I’m excited as she isGrin

Sorry to hear about those of you and/or whose children are under the weather.

I wonder if that now we are in the final stretch of all the adrenaline is wearing off and is a contributing factor.

DS seems to be holding up ok, but I strongly suspect that's because the timetable blessed us this last week with his stronger subjects. Had we been faced with English/RE I think the levels of motivation and resilience could well have been very different.

Steppemum glad to hear we are not the only ones behind the curve on prom. I've been told in no uncertain terms to butt out of any sartorial planning. To be fair he may have a point as male teen fashion is hardly a field in which I have any experience Grin. DH however has a plan (no idea what) so I'm going to leave them both to it.

Won't hear from DS until later as he has 2 exams today (Chemistry and Electronics) so fingers crossed he's done ok. Like pp's I've seen quite a lot of people on Twitter reporting that Chemistry was a tough paper.

Am not getting much out of DD re Chemistry to be honest!

Re-read my previous post - am taking her on a "work related road trip" not a "road related road trip" - a tour of interesting A and B roads would make her run to do more physics revision Grin Grin

Just had a letter from school come through with the title "GCSE Results" my heart skipped a few beats before calming down with the realisation it was just detailing how and when to get them!

DD did OCR chemistry today.
In response to my query she texted "Pretty decent actually. I guessed for a few questions, but in general it was good"
This is one of her worst subjects and after two years of 'not getting it at all' and her having a tutor for past 12 months, I think this is a positive Hmm
