Can't even manage to send Flowers properly today!

readyforsunshine · 12/06/2019 09:25

That is true glee, hot is awful for exams

SilentSister · 12/06/2019 09:35

Chemistry and German here too.....

Day started really badly, I always get DD up at 6am when she has morning exams, so she has time to have a coffee, some breakfast, get ready in a calm and relaxed atmosphere, and leave the house by 7.30 to get in by 8.00. Well, I don't know what happened this morning, but she obviously faffed around, doing her hair or whatever (really, who cares about your hair), and was late coming down, and subsequently late leaving, and didn't get to school until 8.15am. She was grumpy, shouted at me for not having time for last minute revision, and I had to bite my tongue and NOT say "well I was ready at 7.00 what the hell have you been doing". Not a great way to start the day. Can't wait until it is over. Enough now Sad.

Iambuffy · 12/06/2019 09:36

Same here fairweather

I just have some washing to do i think there are people who live here who I've never met and then pick up ds1 at 3.25pm so I'm going to take it easy today.

Foslady · 12/06/2019 09:37

So it’s not just my head pounding - even dd was upskittled today, and she’s been fine so far!
Oh well, they’re all in now!

doublechocadooberry · 12/06/2019 09:39

Sorry to hear many of you are feeling rough, particularly with headaches, DS has had a few severe ones, I think it is stress and tension. Myrtle, that's a great idea and you have inspired me to take DS off somewhere, just the two of us for a trip and some lunch next week just to remind him about a life beyond revision.

Hope your DC are feeling well enough to give it a final push for the last couple of exams and hoping for a kind chemistry paper for those taking today.

Citygirl2019 · 12/06/2019 09:45

Bimkom you can accept as many 6th form places as you want and decide on results day.

We have accepted a place at her current school, plus two other 6th forms. All had slightly different entry requirements and offer different combinations of subjects. She has her preferred choice and naturally that requires the highest grades.

She will email the 6th forms she does not attend once she has confirmed her place after results.

I work in education and would recommend all DC have a variety of options post 16 where possible.

Iambuffy · 12/06/2019 09:46

Sadly I get hemi plegic migraines :(

I think its the weather atm but agree its nice for the students that it's not really hot.

bizzey · 12/06/2019 09:49

Gosh you are right about the final push .
I know it sounds silly to compare it like this ...but it feels like ds has "hit the wall" like they say with marathon runners.
It is actually painful now watching him struggling,, knowing he jas to revise....but just seeing his blank face :(

SilentSister · 12/06/2019 09:53

Sad Sad Sad
Our poor DC's. With a 6 year gap, I am maybe mis-remembering, but I really cannot remember it being so awful with DD1. She did a mix of iGCSE and GCSE too, perhaps they were easier? Anyone else with older DC's?

SolitudeAtAltitude · 12/06/2019 10:01

DS was worried about Chemistry....

He got a 9 in his mocks (for double) and was bumped up to Triple. Where he got a 6 in his mocks.

Guess we are wondering if a 9 in Double would not be better than a 6 in triple.... oh well, too late now. fingers crossed!

TeenTimesTwo · 12/06/2019 10:05

Silent I have a 6 year gap too, and I am part way through it (DD2 is y9).
Exam season is worse for those now as they haven't got chunks out of the way with controlled assessments so there are more exams for a number of the GCSEs and more riding on them as they have fewer marks in the bag already. DD1 had something like 13 exams, DD2 will have 20.
(otoh I'm hoping for a bit less stress during y10 as there won't be CAs popping up every 5 minutes).

Good luck to all those on their remaining exams.

Iambuffy · 12/06/2019 10:06

Ds1 looks grey :(
He had more throat gargle this morning.
I've been giving him multi vits for the past 6 weeks too.
I'm not sure he cares much about the sciences anymore....the chemistry mock grades in Jan were dire across the whole year 11.
He will be anxious for tomorrow as its geography which is an a level choice

Arewedone · 12/06/2019 10:22

Silent sister- yes I have a DS doing A levels, he’s a breeze thankfully.Dd far more highly strung!

bizzey · 12/06/2019 10:25

buffy your poor ds :(

He has haf such a problem with his throat.
I think you said you took him to the doctors.
Go again and ask for glandular fever blood tests.
You might be able to prove he has haf it through his exams.

bizzey · 12/06/2019 10:33

I am the same as Arewedone ds doing A levels .
I am finding it tricky to give them equal amount of support and help.

I read other threads where people are asking the best age gap between their children.
I think now my advice would be ...do not do the 2 school year gap 😂

16 months between ds1 and ds2 = 2 year school gap .
21 months between ds2 and ds 3 = consecutive school years .

bizzey · 12/06/2019 10:34

Any news on chemistry yet ?

Fibbke · 12/06/2019 10:37

No and i havent had a text from dd which is worrying. Hoping she may have gone to the cafe with mates

SilentSister · 12/06/2019 10:41

All quiet here too.......

Fibbke · 12/06/2019 10:41

"Ok. Like, average, but fine"

Arewedone · 12/06/2019 10:43

Oh news here- igcse a dream

Iambuffy · 12/06/2019 10:47

I'm very envious of those of you whose dc text them after exams!

He says he doesn't feel too bad bizzey but the past week he definitely has been under par.

SilentSister · 12/06/2019 10:58

News - Edexcel iGCSE was a nice paper. She knows there was one she couldn't do, and one she wrote the colour of something as dark grey three times, then crossed it out and put black. The answer was dark grey! Oh well.

Arewedone · 12/06/2019 11:01

Silent sister -same here, just left it out as did most her year!

bizzey · 12/06/2019 11:06
