Dd just messaged - chemistry thinks she did ok but some really horrible questions on it!

Arewedone · 12/06/2019 11:20

bizzy- yes having 2 going through it is stressful although DS is so organised and great at time management that as long as he’s fed he’s really happy. I think only having 1 essay subject helps, he’s taking maths, further maths, physics and economics.
Dd really takes all my energy!

gleegeek · 12/06/2019 11:21

Aqa chemistry not been well received across twitter! Will find out what dd thought of it when she gets home...

Arewedone · 12/06/2019 11:21

Bizzy- is your DS cooing too?!

Arewedone · 12/06/2019 11:21

Coping😬

Bimkom · 12/06/2019 11:23

DS said it was OK. He said he messed up a couple of things, but otherwise OK.

Bimkom · 12/06/2019 11:25

But I doubt when it comes to chemistry he is necessarily the best judge as to how most people will find it.

Iambuffy · 12/06/2019 11:27

Aqa here.
Sounds like a terrible paper from what I'm seeing on twitter

Scabetty · 12/06/2019 11:29

Aqa Trilogy paper here. Ds had a ‘blank’ but was the ok Shock Not sure what that means but think his brain is melting now. One to go Smile

Scabetty · 12/06/2019 11:30

*then

SolitudeAtAltitude · 12/06/2019 11:30

AQA triple here,

DS said a quarter of it was test-based (needing to know what happens when you combine certain elements), and he was lucky he had tried to memorise all the possible tests the night before.

He said it was ok, overall

Luciaia · 12/06/2019 11:35

Anyone’s dc doing ocr gateway? Can’t seem to gather much from twitter as doesn’t seem to be a common exam board choice

bizzey · 12/06/2019 11:35

Bimkom · 12/06/2019 11:47

Hi Citigirl - I don't think you were on this thread in October-December, but the dreaded sixth form is private, as is the one whose offer we turned down. DS really, really wants to leave the state system (as mentioned two boys from his school made it into the dreaded sixth form last year), and he sat for ( had an interview for), and then received an offer for it. He also sat for another private school, whose conditional offer was not nearly so tough. But private school is expensive enough (even for only two years), so there was no way we were putting down a deposit for both. If he doesn't make the grades, the dreaded sixth form will return out deposit. But he really doesn't want to go back to his state school, or any of the other three state options we went to look at (being in London, there are actually a lot). So we couldn't face applying even as a plan B. Even if he doesn't quite make the grade for the dreaded sixth form, he should do well enough that most schools will consider him for late offers (or at least that is the hope). And private school no2, tha we turned down, may well have an opening. It will be a bit heartbreaking, given how hard he has worked if he doesn't make the dreaded sixth form though.

bizzey · 12/06/2019 11:48

As you can tell from my typing i am rubbish at this sort of thing !!

bizzey · 12/06/2019 11:54

My link was to try and give back something to this thread as i feel like i always take and ask .

steppemum · 12/06/2019 12:01

AQA chemistry triple here.
ds happy, said all that he revised came up.

DRM - ds hasn't bought anything for prom yet either, he wasn't prepared to until exams over. Good job we aren't looking for a prom dress!
I've heard Next suits do an extra long (6'3" ds) so we are off there on Saturday, and hoping it will be an interview suit too

steppemum · 12/06/2019 12:02

(I am the epitome of uncool, and dh is worse, so we are really out on a limb to know what to buy a VERY fashion conscious 16 year old!)

steppemum · 12/06/2019 12:03

bizzey - ds joined the gym at half term when they went on study leave. He has been most days, it is his way of relaxing.

SolitudeAtAltitude · 12/06/2019 12:08

Steppemum, we bought a suit at Moss Bros for 6ft3 DS, had to have it altered a bit, it's a very modern cut in my uncool middle aged view Grin

KittyMcKitty · 12/06/2019 12:18

I’ve invigilated AQA Trilogy and Single this morning and from the students expressions it was challenging but not impossible.

Ds sat Edexcel Triple (H) and said it was alright (alright seems to be not as good as good but not a disaster).

He has 2 more to go. He’s got a cold, all tge students at work have a cold - I have a cold Smile

Just got to get through this weekend then can breathe (dd has music exam and 2 theatre performances). Dh away for a month - I’m failing to sympathise as to how hard staying in a hotel and eating in restaurants apparently is Hmm

Iambuffy · 12/06/2019 12:18

I rate next suits.

steppemum · 12/06/2019 12:21

can I ask how much does a suit cost?
