That seems so unfair! Although dds second paper was hard, it wasnt as hard as this third paper sounded.

I don't really understand why you'd even have an international GCSE for maths anyway Confused

myrtleWilson · 12/06/2019 07:37

DD didn't enjoy History - she hadn't focused on women enough compared to other topics. She doesn't think she's done "bad" but not as well as she could have done.
Chemistry like others today and then just physics on Friday. I'm taking her on a road related road trip with me tomorrow as I can't imagine she'll be spending all of this afternoon and all of tomorrow revising physics Grin

slalom that sounds like a tough old day - good luck!
DRM good luck with emergency prom kitting out!

Iambuffy · 12/06/2019 07:44

I have to say I've been impressed with the big 6th forms admin/organisation.

The other 2 have been a bit dire.

Aqa Chemistry today.

I've woken up with a migraine.

Woe.

Arewedone · 12/06/2019 07:48

Hope your migraine starts clearing buffy!
Good luck everyone with Chemistry.
Fibbke- yes igcse only 2 papers 😅

Fibbke · 12/06/2019 07:51

I think I'm exhausted. Dd is doing gcses dd1 doing a levels. Dd3 moving schools in September and is unhappy at current one. Dsis ill from alcohol and trying and failing to give up drinking. Dh is away for a few days. I had a large glass of wine last night and dont normally drink and now i just do not want to get up Blush

TabbyStar · 12/06/2019 07:52

Sour it's tricky isn't it with friendships, not as bad as years 8 and 9 but there's still been some fracturing in DD's friendship group this year as they split and reform. None of DD's friends will go to either of her choices, she will know people but it will be a matter of forming a new friendship group, which will then only last a couple of years before uni. She is a bit apprehensive I think, she's already had a lot of change in her schooling.

DeRigueurMortis · 12/06/2019 07:55

Thank you Myrtle

Big day for us here with both Chemistry and Electronics.

Fingers crossed and good luck to everyone Thanks

behindlocknumbernine · 12/06/2019 07:56

Chemistry and then German here.

I have woken with a headache too and Wednesdays are my least favourite day at school so I really don't want to go in... (SEN TA)

Hope you all manage to hang in there. Just a few more days!!

Iambuffy · 12/06/2019 07:57

fibbke 💐

Fibbke · 12/06/2019 08:21

Thanks buffy.

I'm up! Decided to stay up with all three girls tonight and watch love island with another glass of wine Grin might even buy a box of chocs to get me through love island as i hate it

readyforsunshine · 12/06/2019 08:33

Headache here too!
Fibbke that sounds a lot, poor you.
Glad your dd has been given the green light to ride behind Smile
Chemistry here which is an a level choice. She has always been reasonably strong but completely bombed in mocks, a little casual about the revision as she was over confidentHmm
She’s feeling happier than I am this morning but I’m telling myself she’ll be fine.
Re maths the feedback seems to be that edexcel 1st 2 papers were easier than AQA so I guess the 3rd paper is to sort the 8’s & 9’s? I’m sure it must balance out more or less.

Anyone else doing the igcse chemistry, it’s only an hour and 15, all that revision for such a short paper😳

bizzey · 12/06/2019 08:55

I have just realised that none of ds's gcse's are going to be A level choice's .
Sociology, Gov and politics and Psychology are all "new" .
Obviously he stiil needs the grades to continue in 6th form.

History is still on the back burner , not as a 4th but replacement.

I would still like him to do a science ? Betec
.
But as i have said to him , nothing is set in stone, and wait till results day to know what is happening.

bizzey · 12/06/2019 08:58

According to ds's timetable EDEXEL chemistry is 70 mins. 1 hour 10 mins ..
Who comes up with these wierd timings!

bizzey · 12/06/2019 08:59

Edexel physics is the same on Friday.

Fibbke · 12/06/2019 09:00

Yes arewedone i agree. It seems mad.

gleegeek · 12/06/2019 09:09

Ive got a migraine coming too - I'm blaming it on the weather. But at least our dc haven't had to cope with GCSEs in 30° heat - the school hall is like an oven with huge windows but only the tiny top ones open. Dd says it's been the perfect temperature in there for exams.
Chemistry and German today - fingers crossed for decent papers!

Arewedone · 12/06/2019 09:09

Dd was telling me on the way into school that her school has lodged complaints about 3 different mark schemes so far because they are too vague! Has anyone else heard this?

fairweathercyclist · 12/06/2019 09:17

I was glad to see that ds had the same view of AQA Maths as others had posted on here and he thinks he might get a higher grade than he thought he would. History is an A level choice so hopefully that went as well as he thinks he did.

Chemistry today (combined), geography tomorrow and physics Friday which is the last one and definitely NOT an A level choice. It's a pity they have to do all three sciences, chemistry and biology would have probably been decent grades but physics will drag his overall marks down.

Bimkom · 12/06/2019 09:22

{flowers] to all who aren't feeling great this morning. Fibbke that sounds tough.
I really struggled to sleep last night - went off all right, but DH woke me with his snoring and just couldn't get back to sleep. Hopefully chemistry will go well today. It is DS's strongest subject, so it really should go well, but I am sure AQA are capable of producing an exam that throws him if they set their mind to it.
DS has a familiarisation afternoon in a couple of weeks at the dreaded sixth form. This of course is without knowing whether he has the grades to get in. We don't really have a plan B, although his current school would take him, I reckon, and we might consider approaching the one we turned down to accept the dreaded sixth form and see if they would have him after all. In terms of friends, no-one else from his school tried for the dreaded sixth form (two did last year). He does know one DC who has also got an offer.
Sorry I only saw the request for chemistry help/genie upthread last night after DS had (sensibly) gone to bed early (he was particularly shattered after the maths). DS would likely have known whether there was anything or not.
