So DS decided to stick with his insurance offer. One of his best school mates is going too. I just made him do his accommodation application to make it seem more real. No idea if he'll get his room choices as an insurance? He's gone out to celebrate with friends now which is great because earlier he was so tired and stressed he wasn't bothered.

I still say this is cruel & unusual torture!

Etaina we know how you feel - UCAS Track hasn't updated the Reading offer and DS's acceptance (we have the email though!) and it does make you a bit anxious.

Well done to Etaina and Liney's DCs for getting sorted. Most of DS' friends are all sorted now despite some shocks. His History class all did really well but the shockers seemed to be Biology where quite a few missed their predicted grades and Maths which seemed to have people at extremes of the spectrum and little in between.

Fingers crossed for your DD Teta, I feel gutted for her. Vet med was in clearing earlier so there is hope

This is a terrible system. Cardiff just phoned offering DS a place. He has so little time to think about it. It's nuts.

In Scotland they apply with the equivalent of AS levels, I don't know a lot of Scottish students but from the few I do know they get more unconditionals because they already know the grades.

How long does he have until he has to make a decision Liney?

It's such a horrible system. DD had her freshers wristband ordered and is ready to party

I was looking at the timetable for freshers week, what with that and 17 hours of lectures a week I don't know how the students will fit in all their social life - it's a good job it will probably calm down after freshers week.

LittleHo, hard to say; but he's sticking with Reading, which tbh is a good choice for him.

I know I'm late starting but I've just made myself a large vodka & tonic. I'm sure in a couple of hours time I'll have sorted out the perfect system for getting into universities 🎉🎈🍸🍾

Don't know about you but I am shattered! Would love a drink but have to collect DS after his clubbing. I will have my celebration tomorrow evening

DS said only 5 people from his 6th form didn't get in at their first choice uni. I was surprised at that, thought it might have been more.

Teta ,was so happy to find you on this thread and follow your story as we had dds with the same ambition. Fingers crossed for the remark.

The results were good with friends here though one shock, the head boy who is academically very strong and sails through everything didn't get his place to do classics at either firm or insurance. I'm not sure how he's going to cope because right from primary he's been top of the class and he's not used to not succeeding.

That happened last year with a Head Boy I know - they had his paper remarked and he went up about 20 UMS points and was offered his Firm again.

Happened with someone's son I know always top and oops this time not got good enough grades to do any of his choices. So sad for the kids.

Anyway DS off clubbing...me off sleeping. Good night all it's been A very long day .

Thanks everyone! I feel totally drained and probably won't sleep that well tonight because I won't really believe it until I see the offer on UCAS Track. Our system is completely bonkers.

I hope you all get some sleep, I was planning an early night while the teens are out clubbing but I can't sleep now !

Just seen the news Etaina, really pleased for you all.

I slept from just after 9pm till 7am! All I had to eat yesterday was tomato soup and some bread and butter.

Today I feel so much better - but like Etaina says, I want to see that Track update. And yes, this system is nuts.

At which point I will probably feel like eating again. I never thought I could be this anxious over it all.

I didn't wake up until nearly eight, that's unheard of. Still in bed as my teen stayed over with friends.

Really glad to see those going for Insurance/clearing is working out.

DD went clubbing last night with all the other London Alevel students it sounds like - v packed (and prob not fire-safe!) but didnt drink much
She needs to find out about her Freshers pack.

DH is dithering about how much we have to top- up!

Glad everyone is happy, now the fun bit starts buying them all the stuff they need to take with them!
