RGS Guildford 2016

I am disappointed that there has not been a thread this year but so am stopping 'lurking'. Not want to give any specifics as maybe there is an extra exam day although this doesnt seem to be published anywhere but did anyone on Saturday ask how many Year 7 possible boys there were, as it is hard to tell who is for which year? It is pointless to ask 1 suppose as the boys are so differnet and with multiple choice method it's impossibel for boys to to know for certian anyway but the 'verdict' was Maths and English OK but the VR hard. I think January will seem a very long month.

Thanks for letting us know Heli. Postman been and gone here, no news. Have not heard of any no's either. Maybe they send them in batches??? Dreading tomorrow...

Nothing for us in the post either. After tomorrow if there's still nothing we may allow ourselves to feel hopeful! I'm fairly certain they send out the definite no letters all at once and then the no letters for those interviewed at the end together with the yes letters.

I think you're right. That's what happened last year.

Post been. Nothing from RGS. This is actually awful as I'm now starting to get my hopes up and worried they will then be dashed!! Any one else heard?

Hi Cfm2016! Nothing yet -still waiting for the postman. I worry they (the "no"'s) haven't all been sent out yet. We only know of one received to date. Wouldn't we hear about more than that by now? I really hope I am wrong and that your no news is good news. It is such a strange guessing game.

Hi maman yes I know what you mean which is why I'm trying not to get my hopes up yet. In previous years though all 'nos' went out at once and after a couple of days you seemed to be safe!

Nothing for us either. I really hope the no letters were posted already! In previous years there have only been one or two people posting up news of no letters but I still can't bring myself to get excited until we have firm confirmation of no letters having been received.

Hi all, just reporting that nothing for us from RGS today either! Thanks to Heli for allowing us all a little breather yesterday but I can't help but think maybe not all 'nos' were sent together. Surely we would have heard others by now? Are you sure about this one 'no' Heli? I know 8 other boys who sat RGS exam and apparently none heard anything - or not saying! I tried to call K Sweet on Friday but couldn't get through.

Ps. I will tell you all if/when we get a no letter even though it will break my heart. It is what it is...

Though actually hopeful is right to say that in previous years only one or two people have posted getting rejections.... Can't blame them really but I will also let you all know if anything arrives! I think four others at least sat at my sons school but I can't bring myself to ask them in case any did get nos.

Hi again, I've heard from two sources that the 'no' letters were posted on Thursday - one of whom works at the RGS, one of whom attends the RGS and physically saw the bundle of letters at reception. I also have not heard of any further 'no's' but suspect most people received only yesterday or today so may not have heard yet? The 'no' I heard about is a friend of a friend. Post hasn't arrived here yet - but will def let you all know if we get a 'no'. Nerve-wracking!!

Thanks Heli! It's a roller coaster of emotions!! Now my hopes are on the up again!

Only bills and adds here. Not daring to get my hopes up just yet though, seems very odd none of the many I know who sat got a no....I'm clinging on to the no news is good news and Heli's posts!

Pb have those you know definitely not had letters or have they maybe just not told you yet?? Still clinging on to hope...

I have been lurking on this thread for a while. It is a tremendous source of encouragement and information although I can't help but think that the RGS could make this all a bit more bearable. We are in the position of having heard nothing at all although having applied for 13 entry I think this would be the first opportunity. Terrible to say but it would be reassuring to hear from someone who has actually received a "no".

Unfortunately for 13, it's even worse because even if you don't hear anything, you could still get a 'come back at 12' letter which isn't a no but it means another year of not knowing!

No one at our school is really daring to ask anyone as inevitably nor everyone will get in!

Thanks Sassy. I guess we'll just have to deal with that if and when it arises. Certainly not ideal!

No. I agree. Everything goes quiet. Nobody wants to discuss it and there's always surprises.
