I am disappointed that there has not been a thread this year but so am stopping 'lurking'. Not want to give any specifics as maybe there is an extra exam day although this doesnt seem to be published anywhere but did anyone on Saturday ask how many Year 7 possible boys there were, as it is hard to tell who is for which year? It is pointless to ask 1 suppose as the boys are so differnet and with multiple choice method it's impossibel for boys to to know for certian anyway but the 'verdict' was Maths and English OK but the VR hard. I think January will seem a very long month.

Out of interest, what was the date of posting for the letters that have been received so far? Were they 1st or 2nd class?

Princesitalinda · 12/02/2016 10:39

Congratulations to all those who already know it is a yes! We are also in te waiting game, we Te going away at noon, and I am praying that I get post before we go. Post is normally around 12 or 13 for us. Keeping my fingers crossed Smile

pipnzip · 12/02/2016 10:44

Hurray! That's brilliant news - well done to you and your DS, Minem33Smile - enjoy celebrating!

Maniami, I so admire your self-control. I admitted to my DS there was no way I could wait to open the envelopes (hopefully) arriving today. Still no postman here...

Good luck to all who are still waiting to ambush the postie!

maniami · 12/02/2016 11:01

The post was sent on the 11th. It's a large envelope. Good luck all!

EllieHJ · 12/02/2016 11:10

Had two envelopes. Reserve list for Kingston Grammar and an offer from RGS from 2nd interview. Such a wonderful relief and so pleased for DS2. Now we just need to figure out how to pay for it. Good luck everyone and thanks for posting - it was so nice to know I wasn't alone in my anxiety.

hopeful2016985 · 12/02/2016 11:21

What a relief, EllieHJ - congratulations!

hopeful2016985 · 12/02/2016 11:22

Why does today have to be the day our postman is later than usual? I can't concentrate on anything this morning!

Minem33 · 12/02/2016 11:40

The letter is dated 11th February and sent first class. Big envelope with a personalised note from Dr Cox!Smile

surreygoldfish · 12/02/2016 11:53

From memory if you're 13+ it's not a big envelope so you have to open it! There's no way I could have waited until DS came home from school. Even though DS 1 in now in the 4th form (joined at 11) and DS2 3rd form and joined this year at 13+ I still follow this each year! Just DD to go

surreygoldfish · 12/02/2016 11:57

And most importantly well done to you and your DSs if you're in. Commiserations if it isn't the news you had hoped for today. FlowersWineBrew

hhmum123 · 12/02/2016 12:00

So happy. We have a big RGS envelope but I'm also not allowed to open it!

maniami · 12/02/2016 12:00

Surreygoldfish, both your boys started at different times? A bit late now, but how did you find both entries? My son was adamant about starting in Year 7 so we went with his decision, it was a tough one too.

Princesitalinda · 12/02/2016 12:06

Large envelope arrived!! He's in!! I can't tell you how happy and relieved I feel... Thank you all for being an amazing support network. Good luck everyone!

63summer · 12/02/2016 12:34

We got the dreaded 12+ call back. Well done to everyone who's in

hhmum123 · 12/02/2016 12:42

That's really tough 63summer. Really hope things work out for you.

hopeful2016985 · 12/02/2016 12:59

Our son is in too! We are delighted and can't wait to tell him.

So sorry to hear about that, 63summer, although I think that you still stand a very good chance of getting in when taking the 12+ exam. Whatever happens, I really hope you manage to find the right solution for your son. x

Cfm2016 · 12/02/2016 13:09

We also have our offer! So pleased and bubbly Is in the fridge for later!! Well done to all the others with offers and good luck to those who've not heard yet. I think you are in with a very good chance for next year 63summer so best of luck. Thanks to everyone for the great support. We may meet in real life in a few months!! xx

maniami · 12/02/2016 14:40

63summer, we spoke with one boy at RGS on the open day and he got turned down at 11+ then went to resit for 13+ and got in with a scholarship! So there is still hope for your son. Best of luck and we will hope to welcome you next year! This is assuming our envelope contains a Yes! x

Heli2016 · 12/02/2016 15:11

Well done everyone who got their offers - have a big glass of bubbly and a huge sigh of relief tonight.

Unfortunately we also got the dreaded come back at 12...don't you hate that??? Never mind, I will find some way of looking at it that means I can also have a big glass of bubbly to soothe nerves tonight. I have already resorted to caffeine and sugar and that has helped enormously.

Best wishes to you all and thanks for being such good company xx

chickindude · 12/02/2016 15:53

DS has a place too.
Also KCS Wimbledon & Hampton
Which to choose......help!

Cfm2016 · 12/02/2016 16:05

Well done chickindude! All fantastic schools! I'd trust your gut instinct - and go with the easiest journey!

Bin85 · 12/02/2016 16:46

Chickendude well done to your son.
I'd go with RGS!

pipnzip · 12/02/2016 17:15

Well done chickindude, and congrats to all - good news here too for 11+.

Heli2016, 63summer, well done to your DSs on their 12+ invitations - no mean feat when well over 400 sat the exam. Hope it all works out right for you and your boys, whatever you decide.

Thank you for all the mutual support over the past few weeks. I think we all deserve that bottle glass of bubbly tonight Smile x

surreygoldfish · 12/02/2016 19:26

Enjoy your Wine this evening all.
Mianimi - we decided it was the 'right' thing for DS1 to go early and DS2 chose to stay at prep. We needed to separate them mainly - RGS big enough to absorb both. Prep wasn't!
Those of you with a 13+ call back - it's a tough one - both boys we know that went this route are there now and doing really well.

surreyuk · 13/02/2016 00:33

Congratulations to all for the offers and all the best for the 12+ invitations. Looks like your DCs stand very good chances at 12+.
We are very lucky to have been offered a place but are a bit nervous re. our DS traveling to Guildford on public transport, especially for the first few months of Year 7. We were wondering if some RGS parents have made some arrangements e.g. organise a minibus or would be interested to discuss. Not sure if it is the right forum, but you can always p.m. We live in the Cobham area.
