Exam season starts....

DS is grumping round the house because he failed his driving test this morning. It was a right turn that went wrong and a stupid examiner Hopefully he can rebook for after exams and settle down and get some revision done. I seem to constantly waiting for him to actually start working properly.

MrsBartlet · 27/05/2015 19:22

I wish dd would actually get to the stage of being ready to put in for her driving test NiceCardigan! Just wrote yet another cheque for £200 last night for a new batch of lessons. Then I had to go and pick her up towards the end of her driving lesson as the she drove over a pothole and her driving instructor's car got a puncture! Commiserations to your ds though - it is difficult juggling driving lessons with revision etc.

Definitely swapping rooms around here when dd goes. Ds has already drawn up plans (to scale!) of where his furniture is going in dd's room Grin

Horsemad · 27/05/2015 20:27

I'm Smile at all these siblings plotting Bedroom Wars!! Grin
Actually, I'm kind of looking forward to having just DS2 at home; he's always been in his brother's shadow and it will be nice for him to not have his big bruv hanging over his shoulder saying 'you don't do it like that'! Hmm

NiceCardigan · 27/05/2015 20:31

Well I don't want DS to retake it till after exams as it was far too distracting. His driving is fine he just needs to keep it ticking over. DH managed to be completely unhelpful so a bit of a stressy day all round. I'm glad I'm at work tomorrow!

Horsemad · 27/05/2015 20:48

I think you're right NiceCardigan - he doesn't need the distraction. Needs to get the exams over first. Hope he gets over his disappointment soon. Sending Cake your way.

Littleham · 28/05/2015 13:52

Sorry about the driving test nicecardigan. Much better to leave it for now.

My dd has stupidly booked hers for next week during the exams (sigh). I don't think she is ready yet but the driving instructor said she should have a go.

Bad news about the driving test Nicecardigan - better luck next time.
DD1 is starting to get stressed now - she said yesterday that she still has an awful lot to do.

MrsBartlet · 29/05/2015 08:41

My dd is getting very stressed here, too hellsbells. She had a minor meltdown last night about how much work she had to do. The problem for her is that she only has 4 exams but the first 3 are very close together, so she really needs to be ready for all of them before they start. They were more evenly spaced out last year. Still she was up early and started revising at 8am today as I told her the only way to alleviate the stress is to keep working. So glad I don't have to do exams!

Fairenuff · 29/05/2015 09:47

My dd has three in a row too MrsB, puts a lot of pressure on doesn't it. At least they'll all be over quickly.

Sorry about your ds nicecardigan, at least he has had a good practice run and will know exactly what to expect next time. I think sometimes nerves just get the better of them.

DD's are all very spaced out and she doesn't finish until the 19th (Geography, Philosophy and History + an extra AS in World Development)

circular · 29/05/2015 13:01

Not so much stressed, DD more exhausted and brain dead. Think she is starting to panic about having 4 papers on consecutive days.

Sorry about your DS driving test Nicecardigan. Still plenty time to do it in the long summer break before Uni.

Littleham · 29/05/2015 16:03

Told the girls to take a break. They went shopping this afternoon to break up the revision. In any marathon you need to pace yourself otherwise you will burn out. They were looking bleary eyed so think that they needed a change.

Can't believe how much bras cost. I need to set up a bra factory.

DS has 4 in a row, starting Tues 9th. Then another 3 the following week.
He's been doing past papers this week and has now worked out what areas he needs to learn.
Good news - he's actually planning and taking responsibility for his revision at last!
Bad news - wish he'd done this a month ago!

DD has 8 left including 3 in a row Shock.
On a brighter note, DD2 passed her driving theory today Smile - she has 4 AS papers left, all next week.
They decided to have a break today by driving to Waitrose and buying duck wraps and a fancy drink!
I have got in from work and nothing has been done - dish washer not emptied, sink full of pots, washing machine not emptied....DH not home from work yet.....Takeaway for tea, I think.

Well done to Hellsbells dd for passing the dreaded driving theory. Smile

hellsbells99 · 30/05/2015 11:44

Thanks Mumslife and Littleham. Back to revising for her exams this week.

muffinmonster · 30/05/2015 13:53

DD feeling unwell today with headache. Think she needs a break. She has her driving test (second attempt) on Monday.

NiceCardigan · 30/05/2015 16:54

Good luck to your DD for Mon muffinmonster DS has rebooked his for after exams. It isn't great doing all the driving stuff during the exam period.

DS has exam bombed the kitchen table and stuck bits of Blake poems all over the cupboards. I don't work on a Friday but I ended up having to go out because my presence in the house seemed to be very annoying.

hellsbells99 · 30/05/2015 18:06

Good luck Muffin's DD.
DD2 wanted me to take her for a drive this afternoon but DD1 has pinched the car! She is apparently revising at her boyfriend's as they are both retaking the chem2 paper this week.
NiceCardigan - I have been keeping out of the way as much as possible too Smile

Horsemad · 30/05/2015 18:19

I'm currently banished to my bedroom to watch the FA Cup Shock

DS1 is in kitchen with tutor and DS2 is in living room revising.

hellsbells99 · 30/05/2015 18:32

I hope you've got Wine Horsemad!
