I've got DD1 and 3 of her friends here doing maths A2 papers. They started at 9.30am. DH is off today so keeping out of the way gardening. I am working in my office at home......and DD2 who still has 4 AS exams next week has cleared off to the cinema!

DS had a dental appt today and when making his 6mth checkup had to make it for Dec when we know he'll be home from uni for Christmas! (Assuming he gets his grades and has gone to uni of course!!)

Eeek, it feels real now! Shock

HocusUcas · 26/05/2015 15:49

9.30 is pretty impressive - DS swung into action at the crack of 1.45 Smile .

Given that we are in the eye of Littleham's storm, I'm trying not to get too worked up. Am looking forward to getting my dining table back though at some point.

Littleham · 26/05/2015 17:23

In the eye of the storm you can venture out to look up and see blue skies.
Until the eye wall approaches, the most deadly part of the hurricane.

Biology revision today for dd1. I'm looking forward to seeing desk / table / floors again. All have disappeared under paperwork.

I'm always told that the piles of messy papers are a logical filing system. I must not move them or else I might displace something! Hmm

I have 2 tables and both are covered in revision material - DD2 in the dining room & DD1 has moved the kitchen table into our snug/music room. I now have to sit at the patio table if I want to eat at the table!
Our paper recycling box is constantly full but there are still piles everywhere. I emptied out the box where DD1 had stored all last year's university prospectus' and have only kept the ones relevant to DD2 so more recycling.
Can't wait for exams to be over......

circular · 26/05/2015 18:41

Table keeps filling here too, but mainly DD2s stuff - first lot of end of yr secondary exams after half term. Keep moving her stuff into a box in the living room to try and keep clear for DD1, but she is more taken with going to the library to study with a few others. Been getting there when it opens, staying till closing except when she has work. So getting 6 or 7 hours done, then chilling in the evening. Also taking Sunday as a complete day off.
Really pleased with the amount she is getting through.

Hope everyone done student finance - think deadline this week sometime.

Horsemad · 26/05/2015 18:43

Yep, papers/ books all over the place here also. Was thinking the same about the recycling bin Hells bells ours full to the brim constantly Smile I'm leaving the bedroom clearing until after the last exam; both of mine hoard everything Hmm

seimum · 26/05/2015 20:50

DS has finally started some obvious revision! With only 2 weeks to go. OK, it's only 2-3 hours/day, but he claims he's getting A/B's for the test papers he's doing so maybe it will be enough? (Fingers crossed!)

DS suddenly realised about 2 weeks ago that although he had set up an account on the student finance website, he had not actually applied for a loan! However, it's done now and he's had the letter confirming his loan

I'm commandeering DS's bedroom in his absence too mumslife Wink DH's snoring wakes me most nights.

HocusUcas · 27/05/2015 03:18

Glad to hear I am not the only one in a furniture based crisis Smile i.e. all available surfaces covered in what Ds calls "revision".

Circular - is the student finance deadline really this week ? - a bit worried as DS keeps saying it's fine - it's fine ..........
If anyone can point me in the right direction - much appreciated.

HocusUcas · 27/05/2015 03:30

Sorry - meant re deadline re student finance. Not the whole thing. Slightly concerned now.

Mumslife - will join you in huge clear out once exams done. Until then I am under instruction not to touch anything if I do not have to Smile Ah well.

Horsemad · 27/05/2015 08:17

Not sure now whether to let DS2 have DS1's room when he goes to uni. DS2's room is quite small and it would be nice for him to have a larger room but his current bedroom would be too small to use for a spare (won't fit a double). Also, not sure how DS1 might feel if I hand over 'his' room.
Decisions, decisions! Grin

Thank you hellsbells

It says this

"The 2015 to 2016 academic year starts on 1 September 2015 (though some courses may start in August 2015).

Deadline

The deadline for applying is 9 months after the start of the academic year."

Does that mean the academic year we are in now - i.e. deadline would be end May as circular indicates or that they can apply up to 9 months into the academic year they start (in DS case - fingers crossed touch wood etc Sept '15 academic year)

Sorry for rather dim questions - should probably just get him to sit down today anyway and get the thing done.

circular · 27/05/2015 10:40

The 'deadline' I was thinking of is the one that guarantees they will get monies in time for start of course. 31st May.

circular · 27/05/2015 10:48

Above date was on a Ucasmedia email. Cannot see it online anywhere.

HocusUcas · 27/05/2015 10:53

Thanks Circular !

Littleham · 27/05/2015 12:45

I ran around the house like a headless chicken last week when I found an unsigned student finance form in one of the many piles of paper.

DD2 just gave me a resigned look Hmm and said it was the copy and that she had signed and sent off the original ages ago.

Horsemad, we are planning to shuffle bedrooms around when/if dd goes in Sept. S1 is in a tiny room & wants a bigger space so he can have a desk. Somehow s2 has ended up with the second biggest bedroom... Haven't decided yet if I'll make him swap around too!
