Dd's school started an IB exam at 7.30 am so that the girls that had to take it wouldn't miss the final assembly!

Last day for dd tomorrow. Asked this morning 'can you make a fancy dress costume for tomorrow Mum?'. No I cannot! Shock

Frantic ringing round and have got a costume. Honestly.

Ha ha ha Littleham, am LOL at the fancy dress request! Grin Grin Just the sort of thing my two would do!

AtiaoftheJulii · 21/05/2015 22:23

Lol! My dd1 does a lot of drama outside school, so when she wanted a costume for her last day, she just went to the theatre and raided the wardrobe!

NiceCardigan · 21/05/2015 22:23

I asked DS did he have any plans for after tomorrow's leavers mass. His answer was "Er pub". I'm meeting a friend for a drink in the evening so will be avoiding any likely sixth form haunts!

AmazingDisgrace · 22/05/2015 00:17

Boss/BF's daughter finished on Friday at her Indie. The whole upper 6th were sent home before lunch for drunkenness and they'd all dressed up. Her D as a bee (possibly outs self here) they then went and carried on their party on the field opposite. Anyway, the bee was snapchatted passed out on a pavement with the words " Its the end for the bees" I dunno why but it tickled me.

My DDs lot went to the pub last night after their official end to school but have a proper blow out planned for when they've all finished their A2s

Dd1 went on a school trip to see King Lear last night. I didn't realise that it was well into study leave until after I'd paid for it, but she claimed it would still be useful for revision! Hmm She loves her English teachers, so think it was a nice night out for the group anyway :-)

Fairenuff · 22/05/2015 11:32

Littleham that reminds me, I read somewhere that they should pack a fancy dress costume for fresher's week. Apparently it will be more useful than, say, an iron Grin

Littleham · 22/05/2015 11:58

Fancy dress added to list Fairenuff. We did have some but it is at university with her older sister! The last minute cobbled together costume looked quite good in the end.

Dd was saying to me last night, 'I'm actually going to uni. I'm actually leaving home'.

I think it's only just starting to hit her.

hellsbells99 · 22/05/2015 14:06

Fairenuff - I think DD will be waiting for results day before she is in a position to hopefully say that!

welshpixie · 22/05/2015 15:06

That is it DD has finished her last exam, went well apparently. She is going away 9th June with the BF for 10 days, comes back and 1 week later we are moving house. Oh yes just the speech to write for graduation then we can all relax back in dear old blighty. This is going to be a big change for her she hasn't lived in the UK since she was 2 years old.

NiceCardigan · 22/05/2015 15:44

So it was the leavers mass this morning and I managed to sob all the way through the first hymn. We have had 13 years of DCs at the school so it was a big day I even ended up hugging the head of sixth form. DS had this face Hmm. Then a group of the parents went to the pub for lunch and marvelled at getting to this stage!

Mindgone · 22/05/2015 18:34

That sounds lovely Nicecardigan! Nothing for the parents here, and I'm feeling quite sad too about the end of having kids at school. I would have loved to be at the leavers' mass, but parents weren't invited Sad. DS felt quite underwhelmed by his last day today, but is off to a fancy dress party tonight, so hopefully it will all change. Just off to fix his bat cape now! Grin

MrsBartlet · 22/05/2015 19:45

Oh Nice Cardigan that must be sad to be leaving the school after 13 years. I feel sad enough that we won't go back to dd's school again and we have only been connected to it for 7 years. Truly the end of an era for you!

I had to hold back the tears at dinner tonight when dd told me about the end of their leavers' assembly. Apparently they played a song from Hairspray called "Come so far (got so far to go)" and the rest of the girls stood up and clapped the Y13s out of their final assembly. To make matters worse they were all given a card with a lovely poem in it which ends with the lines -
"And when you are old, remember this place, for here, in your memories
you will be forever young." Sad

Mindgone · 22/05/2015 20:05

MrsB, that's beautiful!

Oh MrsB, you've set me off crying again!

Littleham · 22/05/2015 22:33

That made me think of my leaving day Mrs B. Sooooo long ago. Gulp.

Well I've just retrieved DS out of Wetherspoons he isn't quite as bad as AmazingDisgrace's bee but not capable of meaningful conversation. He's going to stay with DD1 for the weekend and hasn't packed yet so I decided that was enough drinking for one day - I think he was glad of the excuse to leave!

Only 16 days until dd's first exam. And she's not out of bed yet. Am tempted to wake her but I think I'll let her lie in and 'encourage' some serious revision later on Grin

I've bought 'Into the woods' on dvd to watch with her later as a little treat. Will dangle that as a carrot I think Grin
