Mumslife - DD did a 2 day summer school there and thought it was great. Bath is also a concrete jungle university but again a lovely city.

Everywhere is far from us. :( except the one round the corner, which doesn't offer music. Sigh.

hellsbells99 · 15/11/2014 09:27

Think Manchester is DD's top choice at the moment. One thing she has noticed with every uni we have been to is that there is nothing much said about music. At Bath they raved about sport. When we spoke to the student who showed us round she said she used to play the flute but hasn't played at uni at all - this seems to be very common. DD will be lost without her piano!

hellsbells99 · 15/11/2014 09:28

Where are you Rabbit - in West Wales? Do you have decent train links?

We're already checking out sport for DS2 who wants to be a PE teacher!
So far got Durham, B'ham and Bath on his list. Grin

Littleham · 15/11/2014 10:28

Bath has the most amazing sports facilities. It is like an Olympic Village.

So much to catch up with! This thread has really been busy the last couple of days.
Yay for Mumslife's DD - an unconditional from UEA is fantastic. So much stress taken off her now.
Big congratulations to Horsemad's DS too - hope DH has bought you that wine! - Warwick is an amazing university - DD has an offer from there too so maybe they will end up in the same place!
DD is getting a bit anxious about getting an Oxford interview - I think she would almost be relieved not to get one because of the stress, but the beta blockers do seem to be helping her and she has been much calmer the last week or so, so hopefully if she does get an interview she will be able to cope.

Heck, I'd be stressed to hell if DS had applied to Oxbridge MissM!! Grin
It's been bad enough as it is! Grin I really hope your DD gets an interview, I'm sure she'll be fine in it if she does. Smile

Hellsbells Devon. No, we don't have reasonable trains we have the most vulnerable and expensive trains in the country. :(

Ha ha horsemad your ds is using his caveman skills. My dd managed to do toad in the hole, the Yorkshire puds were aunt Bessie's and the gravy was oxo but all in all she did a good job, she didn't set the smoke alarm off and she now knows the difference between oven and grill. Grin

Roisin · 15/11/2014 22:17

Has anyone's dc had an offer from Imperial? On Thursday ds1 got a congratulatory email and invite to a post-offer open day, but there's still no sign of the actual offer; not on a separate email or on the UCAS site. [ confused]

Horsemad · 15/11/2014 22:27

What subject? DS has had an acknowledgement from ICL, (Comp Svi) but that's all.

Quite a few on TSR have had interview dates for Comp Sci. I'm not expecting them to make DS an offer tbh.

Horsemad · 15/11/2014 22:30

Sorry Roisin, meant to say Congrats if he has got an offer. I hope it's a glitch and his offer email has been overlooked meaning the offer visit day is for real Smile

Roisin · 15/11/2014 22:36

Thanks horsemad: we wait... (It's biochem by the way.)

Littleham · 16/11/2014 15:32

Roisin - know of one boy who had an interview at Imperial for Biochem, but no reply yet. I don't think he intends to go there anyway.
