We seem to have reached the limit on the other one!

AQA biology this afternoon for DD2 then just physics and chmistry next week .....the end is in sight!

RaspberryLemonPavlova · 06/06/2014 11:14

OCR Gateway Chemistry here too this afternoon. Gateway seems to be triple done in 6 exam, I'm sure there are other differences.

DS very calm and looking forward to it - hope it goes well for him.

Eight more after this, four more science, two Italian (although back to back), and two Further Maths.

MorvahRising · 06/06/2014 11:36

The OCR sciences DS is doing are triple science with three papers for each exam. So nine in total and today is the second biology paper. I can't believe how many different ones there are!

DS also feeling OK about it. I never know if this is a good thing or not. . .

After today we still have nine to go and don't finish til 23rd June! It's a long old haul!

After this pm's Biology B2 paper, its 7 more exams - DC finishes on the 23rd as well.

Lancelottie · 06/06/2014 11:54

Uncharacteristic meltdown from DS today as we had an email 'reminding' them of Biology revision sessions this morning.

Now this was the first we'd heard of it; and there wasn't any detail given on the email, which just said 'Reminder: Fri morning P1 revision session for all GCSE double or triple sci'.

Total panic from DS: 'Where am I meant to go? Whadda they mean P1? It's not physics it's biology, and we don't have a room P1, and we've done unit P1 already, and when does it start anyway, and we don't have a form room any more, and... aaargh!'

No idea, sorry, mate. I think the stress has finally all caught up with him.

Lancelottie · 06/06/2014 11:55

Oh, and I got back from dropping off his sister to find his school shoes still at home but nooooo sign of DS, so I assume he's gone in, but not sure how...

eatyourveg · 06/06/2014 11:56

OCR gateway here too. Double award so its B2 C2 P2 this afternoon 3 & 4 both next week along with 2 maths and philosophy on wednesday. Ds has asked me to test him 3 times this morning and wants another run through before we leave for school! I am now an expert on fertilisers, solar panels and asteroids! Grin

Unexpected · 06/06/2014 12:30

Another one with DS1 gone in for Biology this afternoon - and it's his 16th birthday today! Never has a birthday morning passed with less fanfare in our house. He wants to do Biology A level so really wants an A* in his Science GCSEs and has actually really knuckled down this week. He doesn't want to go out for dinner this evening so have loads of yummy party food all ready at home and his presents.

Agree with everyone else who says this is a never-ending haul, he had his drama exam on 8 May and doesn't finish until 23 June!

RaspberryLemonPavlova · 06/06/2014 13:11

I thought DS was unlucky finishing on the 20th June, school had planned it for the Leaving Day until it was pointed out, by the students, they had a Further Maths exam that morning.

bruffin · 06/06/2014 14:56

DD just came out of Biology and said it was much better than the other units.

nostress · 06/06/2014 15:55

Text from DS's GF "we both really enjoyed the exam" (aqa biology). :)

KatyMac · 06/06/2014 16:15

DD has refused point blank to go to London tomorrow

I'm keeping out of it because I think she should go (based on the commitment made & the fact that she will enjoy it & it makes her feel better) but everyone else is advising her all in opposite directions

MissScatterbrain · 06/06/2014 16:22

DC said Exdexcel Biology B2 was tough but managed to do ok. Said it was more difficult than any of their past papers with tricky questions etc.

eatyourveg · 06/06/2014 16:43

Yeah! fertilisers and solar panels came up, no asteroids but supernovas instead - ds very pleased

KatyMac · 06/06/2014 16:45

DD was mildly pleased with her biology then not, then pleased again, then she cried!!

MorvahRising · 06/06/2014 16:47

DS said the biology (OCR triple science unit 2) was more difficult than he was expecting. He thinks he did OK but he was expecting to breeze through it and he said he really had to think! Well, isn't that what exams are FOR?

One of his mates forgot to turn the paper over and completely missed out a six mark question on the back, poor lad.

There was apparently a quite tricky question on enzymes, but he reckons he answered it all right, although he said despondently "that might be an A rather than an A*"

Hopefully a chicken curry tonight and an evening off will cheer him up a bit!

The end is in sight! 5 more exams and we are done. It's been difficult, stressful and there have been a few tears but we should all be done by 3pm next Friday. Then the long long wait for results. Can't wait for all this to be over.

Lancelottie · 06/06/2014 17:30

Phew. DS just phoned. Admittedly not to discuss exams at all, just to say he'd be going in town, but at least he got there, and apparently did have shoes on...

MrsMaturin · 06/06/2014 17:35

Sorry have been a bit absent from this thread. All doing a lot better here atm than we were before 1/2 term. dd seems very happy with (AQA) Biology paper today - said it was very much what she was expecting. She was pretty disgusted with one girl who moaned how hard it was whilst saying ' but I didn't do any revision'. What did she expect?!? Dd seems happy with what she's done. Maths x 2 and the other sciences next week and then further maths the week after. Gulp.

Are we the only mn house doing philosophy on wednesday? When ds did paper 1 ethics on the 12th, everyone's dc's here seemed to be sitting it too. I thought everyone did RS Confused

LIZS · 07/06/2014 09:59

Philosophy Weds here too ! Latin Monday then following Weds.

Nocomet · 07/06/2014 10:03

No we have OCR philosophy on Wednesday too.

DD says OCR biology (double award) was really easy, lots of tick boxes and very little writing. No one needed their extra time and the invigilator looked a bit worried when they were all adamant they had done.

I did get thanked for making her learn to spell 'ribosomes', she said it was the one essential word not in any of the questions.

Edexl Geography data was OK too. Minor panic " how the fuck do I spell - resources???" until she realised they live you a Resource Booklet, with that written "In large friendly letters" on the front cover.

Honestly dyslexics use more brain cells getting round not being able to spell than on working out the actual answers.

RaspberryLemonPavlova · 07/06/2014 12:43

DS only did a half (compulsory) GCSE in RE, so he only had Ethics. Even the half has been removed from DDs GCSEs (she goes into Y10 in September).

He says Chemistry was fine. No further detail offered.

Best1sWest · 07/06/2014 14:39

No RE for DS either.

Just Maths and Media Studies left now.
