We seem to have reached the limit on the other one!

DS says he thought maths went well until he compared answers with some friends and realised that he'd made rather a lot of daft mistakes.

Some poor hypothetical customer now has 7 m thick concrete on his driveway...

Unexpected · 13/06/2014 12:25

DS also very happy with Edexcel Maths, hoping for A* overall. Most of his friends are finished today so really difficult to keep him on track as he still has triple science stretching to Monday week!

MissScatterbrain · 13/06/2014 12:29

Envious of those whose exams have finished today...4 more exams to go for us.....

Love the sound of the beach being 1 min from the school Envy

MorvahRising · 13/06/2014 12:39

Lancelottie that should make the examiner smile anyway!

All done hereGrin . OCR maths was 'really good'. Here's hoping he gets his B, he already has a C at foundation level.
I've taken the obligatory last time in uniform photo, and he gleefully ripped up his exam timetable. I imagine that will be the only bit of tidying his room for today, as the laptop is on and computer games in full swing alreadySmile .

nostress · 13/06/2014 13:07

Yes DS liked edexcel maths :) he knows he dropped some points in paper 1 so is hoping that 2 will bring it up.

He also got me a moonpig card saying thank you for 'helping me revise' and 'RIP to 1000's of trees who died to supply the paper to print mountains of past papers' :)

Nocomet · 13/06/2014 14:52

DD1 not impressed with the, Edexcel, maths (she's A/B) borderline and it sounds like there were several A* questions. She says she used all her extra time throwing things at the last question, but she couldn't get it. Hopes there are some marks for workings.

Anyway, That's It!

Good luck to the triple scientists, DCs doing ad Maths and everyone else still with exams. DD said her DF regretted Latin when the Exam was a week after most people had finished last year.

LeapingOverTheWall · 13/06/2014 16:01

DD got confused with the time in Maths this morning, and panicked herself Sad. And even though she had an hour more than she thought, she couldn't get properly into it again. Oh well, not much we can do about it now.

MrsMaturin · 13/06/2014 16:22

Maths was better here than physics yesterday. Just further maths to do and thankfully dd isn't putting too much pressure on herself re that.

sunshinecity17 · 13/06/2014 16:34

OCR maths quite easy- only one question requireda bit of thought according to DS
Now just further maths next week and last RE paperthe week after. So not finished until the 24th!!
his first exam was re and the last one is too

Nocomet · 13/06/2014 18:44

We had RE first and almost last. 4 hours of it for one GCSE. More than any other subject, which seems daft.

DS1 has 5 more to go, all the sciences to make up triple science and the two further maths papers. Most of his friends finished today. Sad

Bouncingbeans · 13/06/2014 19:52

Edexcel Maths calculator better than Monday's until she made fatal mistake of looking at The Student Room and muttered something about not getting the right answer about what time Sue got home (?) and that was an easy one so if she got that wrong, she probably got others wrong. She didnt attempt the last few questions but that is because her set are not taught the A star questions but can still get a B with the rest of the paper.

All done now though and she is also off partying tonight. Expected her to be ecstatic it was over but she was a bit subdued and said she feels 'weird' probably exhaustion.

So glad it's all over!
Well done us who have finished, in getting our DC through it Wine
Not much longer everyone else! Smile

Strangely DSs school polo shirt from today has a huge rip in it, looks like some scissors slipped somewhere along the way.. Monkey!

Leeds2 · 13/06/2014 23:52

Wishing it was over.

Just one more .....

chart53 · 14/06/2014 00:06

DD was happy with Maths 2 - also hoping it will improve marks having had a difficult paper last time. Russian Monday then DD can relax. She is just so tried now.

SlightlyNerdyPianist · 14/06/2014 06:49

Anybody here do WJEC maths apps 1 yesterday? DD came out of the exam not happy as she says the poor grammar and wording of the questions made them very difficult to read and work out (and open to multiple interpretation). I don't doubt her, having seen past papers of WJEC, but have there been other reports of this from yesterday?

Oh, and her and a her friend said they found a glaring error that completely threw them in one one of the questions. So it's not just her for that one!

nostress · 14/06/2014 09:14

Slightly, what was the error? (Just being nosey!). It might be worth raising it with school/exam board.

SlightlyNerdyPianist · 14/06/2014 18:57

Ah, she thinks with hindsight that it wasn't an error but that the grammar was do poor that it made the question incredibley difficult to approach. It looks like her friend couldn't navigate the poor question writing. We shall see!

Phaedra11 · 15/06/2014 19:56

Good luck to all DCs still taking GCSE papers.

DS has Further Maths on Monday and Friday and RE on Wednesday. He has pretty much taken the exams in his stride up until now but FM will be a challenge. He seriously considered dropping it but his teacher persuaded him not to - partly by pointing out the low grade boundaries. You can achieve a C with around 18% apparently.

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 15/06/2014 20:04

Yes, good luck to your DS and any others still with revision to do.

MrsMaturin · 15/06/2014 20:06

dd and dh have been hitting Further Maths over the weekend. Goodness knows how it will go Hmm Thankfully she isn't putting herself under too much pressure and dh told her all we expect is for her to get through the paper alive! Last push now.....
