I thought I would start this tradition once again while we all wait? DS only sat Trinity...

Sorry Stress. Best wishes to DS and well done to him for having the determination to try again! You know he'll be fine and you can both move on knowing you gave it a good shot.
Sleep is hard to come by these days, bothDW and I still working and not packed yet for tommorow. We will get an email from school sometime tommorow with news. Thinking that having to do it all again would be very hard, so well done to you and good luck going forwards!

Really sorry to hear that Stress- that's very upsetting. I have a feeling your DS will be just fine with you behind him though.

Good luck to everyone else today.

NotADragonOfSoup · 15/02/2013 07:05

Oh, sorry to hear that, Stress :(

Somelikeithott · 15/02/2013 07:35

Good morning all. Can't believe the day has finally arrived. DS happily having breakfast. Doesn't realise it's today they come!!! I know he is thinking about it though, cause he mentioned it yesterday.

All the best to everyone. Off to do school run in a mo. I wonder whose postie arrives first

Marni23 · 15/02/2013 07:38

Well it definitely won't be mine. I'll have neck strain by mid-afternoon from looking up and down the road for a non-existent postie.

Good luck everyone!

GETASHLEY · 15/02/2013 08:36

Fantastic news getashley! Huge congratulations to your clever ds Grin

Right, so that's one down, plenty more to go! This is going to be the Longest Day Ever at work...

Ladymuck · 15/02/2013 08:48

Sorry that ds wasn't successful stresscity. Very hard being in a bulge year I think.

therugratref · 15/02/2013 08:51

Yay well done GA boy.
Sorry about your bad news stress.
I am on my knee's after a really busy shift. It did mean however I totally forgot about offer day until I sat down.

Somelikeithott · 15/02/2013 08:51

Wow, getashley, congratulations to your DS. Nice way to begin the weekend!

Trashpack · 15/02/2013 08:52

Congrats getashley! Fantastic...but apart from being offered a place at W, what I find more incredible is your early postal service!

Well done, you must be delighted.

GETASHLEY · 15/02/2013 08:53

Yes, I am sorry Stress, in my posting my news, I forget to send you a virtual hug to you and your DS. Sad

GETASHLEY · 15/02/2013 08:55

TBH I was a bit naughty and went to the local sorting office at 8am and pleaded with the nice postie who gave me the letters! COuld not bear to wait till 12ish and often we get missed out with deliveries only three days a week!!

Thinking of all of you on here!

Zato · 15/02/2013 08:58

Morning all,

Just to clarify I'm a Dad !! I have not posted as I really wanted to wait until today once letters are sent. My Dad went to Trinity, I went to Trinity and my brother went to Whitgift !! I always saw Trinity as destiny however from post exam day to today I would prefer (by a long way) Whitgift.

If we look at the Sports days :

Trinity - Get your son in line, then go.

Whitgift - Coffee, Danish, presentation, introduction to sports staff.

Interview day :

Trinity - Sit in that room, no seats available - Take DS away to get grilled on English and no questions other than English.

Whitgift :

Taken by boy that went to DS current School to sports center. Meet current parent and have coffee. DS has interview about hobbies / personal interests etc etc. DW and I have 10 min chat with teacher.

The above does not seem a big deal but I've been left really disappointed by T with IMHO an arrogant attitude.

Postie comes at 12 so praying W make an offer. Cannot believe how stressful this whole process is.

Good luck all and my thoughts are with everyone during this time.

wjchoihk · 15/02/2013 09:09

Zato I suspect there are many Dads here at Mumsnet who pretend to be a Mum.. Grin except some obvious ones... Not all know about Mumsnet, so it is totally possible that everyone here hears good news today!

PopcornPizza · 15/02/2013 09:12

Fantastic news GETASHLEY, well done to your DS!

Marni23 · 15/02/2013 09:21

Woo hoo GETASHLEY, that's great news. Well done to your DS.

hardboiled · 15/02/2013 09:26

Well done getashley's DS!!!!! Great news. You went to the sorting office? Is your name Ashley Bond license to kill?

Hello Zato and welcome. My experience of T was completely different and very friendly! We were treated to cofee and biscuits twice, once for interview and then for music audition...Had a chat with head, with two nice mums...DS felt very welcome. We haven't applied to W, so can't compare...Good luck.

Agree with hardboiled re Trinity experience, ours was also very positive

Kylep · 15/02/2013 09:46

Congrats getashley and to your ds

suz742 · 15/02/2013 09:58

Mixed news here. Offers from W & T, but both full fee paying.
Will have to decline them, 16k for Whitgift next year!
Told my DS over phone, so sad for him, at least no hard decisions to be made here.

hardboiled · 15/02/2013 10:02

Sorry about that suz742. At least he knows he did well enough to get a place, that's a lot. Hope you have other good options...We can't pay 16K either. Not even 13K. Not even 8K. Not even...

It's a really odd feeling, so near yet so so far away. He'll go to our local Catholic boys in yr 7, his brother went there and did ok. Was hoping we'd miss yr 6 at his primary.
Life has been on hold waiting for this decision so after I've stopped crying I'll regroup. I'm off to hairdressers now, grey coming through thick and fast, hope I don't bulb there,
Hope someone gets a nice big bursary!
