I thought I would start this tradition once again while we all wait? DS only sat Trinity...

Hello everyone, I was hoping there would be a thread this year! My DS (11+)has an interview at W on Friday - really hope it won't be long before everyone is telephoned. No news from T yet, although I keep checking for any missed calls. Good luck everyone!

Clearly you are all on edge, but ...

Please do not read too much into who gets phone calls when.

IIRC they are linked to a list of candidates, which is kept in date order of receipt of application form.

Interesting camptown, thank you.

Go ahead Marni, it already was wine o'clock a few hours ago for me... Wink

I gave up waiting for permission Grin

Well done PopcornPizza's DS.

And thanks for the info camptown although my impression from the thread last year was that the calls were made pretty randomly (just in case Candidate No. 1's DM is reading this thread and panicking!!)

Lol hardboiled! I have also heard of a few people who have received 11+ calls for interviews. All the best for Friday popcornpizza! Is your D'S pretty chilled out? Must have been a relief when you got the phone call. All the best for T as well.

Hopefully 10+ calls should start soon, if not already!

Bring on the wine hour!!!

Thanks everyone, my DS is sooo relaxed, unlike his Mother who in her excitement at getting telephoned for the interview forgot to ask who was going to be interviewing and how long to expect to be there!

Oh it's definitely wine o'clock (or rather vodka and tonic, I'm out of wine!) in this house...

Hello Everyone, new to this and stress levels rising. We are in the 10+ group, did both T&W. Anyone in the 10+ heard anything as yet?

basildonbond · 14/01/2013 20:09

honestly relax!! the timing of the phone calls means nothing

neither ds nor his friend (doing 10+ and 11+ respectively) got a phone call until 3 WEEKS after the exam and they both ended up getting scholarships for W

(was a very loooong three weeks ...)

Ok basildonbond, I'll relax.

Popcornpizza, we should all learn from your DS and chill out! Well done to him. I'm sure you can phone the school and get the info you did not ask on the phone btw.

Lol popcornpizza, that would've been me as well. Hopefully no one will forget to ask now. Funny how the boys are generally chilled.

As we went into T on Saturday with the boys, one of the teachers announced to them, just remember boys, your parents are more nervous than you. I thought, that's our secret let out of the bag! Here we were pretending it was all cool

Just musing on what happens if no phone call is forthcoming.

I guess we get the 'thanks but not thanks' letters around Feb 14th... does anyone know what's available in terms of exam feedback etcetc? It would be so useful to get an idea of what we'll need to focus on for next year! Can we ask for a chat with one of the teachers/markers, do you think?

Hello all. My Ds sat w 10+ on Thursday, after a very late decision to try 10+ ahead of 11. He seemed quietly confident when he came out and like others talked mainly about the food. We made the cardinal mistake of asking him about the questions to which his response was in the main the wrong answers! to top it off DS decided to write some random story for the essay as didnt like the subject matter they had asked them to write about.
Anyway with the (very) slim chance that we may be called for an interview does anyone have any advice? DS is very quiet and reserved, not 'shy' as such because when he is comfortable he is generally quite confident. It just difficult for a stranger to open him up, worried that W might not see him fitting in with their ultra confident boys. Although he is extremely sporty and competitive which might help.

My DS took the 11+ W&T last week...I didn't think ahead to how anxious I would be after the exams and waiting for news. The relief of finishing the exams was certainly short lived! Thankfully Ds is very relieved they're over, little does he know that behind the scenes I'm super stressed.
Every time the phone rings I feel like I'm going to faint..

I think last year the 'thanks but no thanks' letters came out well in advance of the February offers day. They are not that cruel.

Have just heard that one of DS's classmates received a letter today inviting him for interview at W.

burntoutdad - had to laugh at your ds writing something entirely different in the essay! I must admit the essay title sounded like it was asking for trouble - something about a photo and a nightmare? Ds said he enjoyed writing it but I'm not sure anyone will enjoy reading it Grin

Best of luck anyway - and I don't think you need to worry re: your ds. I sometimes feel W is full of uber-confident boys but I know that's not really the case. Am sure if he gets called for interview they'll know how to get the best out of him. I think the boys can take something in with them to interview as an 'icebreaker' - would that work for your ds?
