I would describe myself as gender critical and opposed to this bill but this doesn't sit right with me.

Sturgeon will just bleat on and on about sovereignty and he's handed her more of a platform IMO.

What do you all think?

"Nicola Sturgeon has said they are almost certainly faking trans status"

This is nonsense of course - how can anyone possibly know who is and who isn't faking trans status, especially with self-ID, and it's a red herring anyway. No one who is physically a man should be in women's prisons, and "man" of course includes transwomen. There has also been a lot of comment about the beauty course that "Isla Bryson" was attending not knowing that he had been accused of rape. Again, irrelevant - doesn't matter whether they knew that or not, he's a man and shouldn't have been there.

Someone on this board gave a very good summary - "we will allow men in womens' prisons if they are pretending to be women, but not if they are pretending to be pretending to be women..." 🙄

@annabelindajane
Well done to Sunak!

It has certainly crossed my mind that Sturgeon wouldn't be so keen on the GRR bill if it directly affected her.
She is unlikely to ever find herself in a gym with communal ladies changing, or on an NHS hospital ward with a random transwoman beside her. I can't imagine her in the supermarket loos either.
Nor does she have kids to worry about in school.
She was the same on her soap box during covid, kids were masked 😷 all fucking day in school, while English kids weren't and no consideration for the damage caused. She wasn't trying to work, childmind, and teach at the same time either. While English preschoolers were in nursery.

She lives in her own wee bubble.
Sorry for the rant!

SNP, Sturgeon and independence fall in poll after Isla Bryson trans prisoner row

🤭

Sugarfree23 · 04/02/2023 20:26

At one point I wondered if the GRR Bill knowing WM would stop it was an attempt to show we NEED independence.

But the timing has opened thousands of eyes, to what GRR means and completely and utterly backfired if that was her plan.

Thats a pure insult to the chocolate tea pot - it's at least useful to eat.

I don't think she's useful for anything 😂

Rainbowshit · 06/02/2023 07:17

So what's Sturgeon's next move?

Before Isla Bryson raised his ugly head the plan was to challenge the section 35 in court to great fanfare about democracy and trans rights.

Now her assertions that women's concerns are "not valid" have been blown out of the water. Now the pills are showing public opinion is not in their side. Now there's been a huge protest in Glashow.

What next?

Sugarfree23 · 06/02/2023 07:33

She'll go quiet on it and hope people forget about it. She will never admit she was wrong or publicly back down.
Exactly as she did when the UN questioned the legality of the Named Person Bill.

She'll be on her next move to undermine women and parents very soon.

The named person was awful. However, unlike England, who have EHCP, the vast majority of disabled children do not have a legal right to support plan. The section with the named person also contained Child’s Plan. Not perfect and nothing like EHCPs but it was something. That was thrown out along with the named person bit.

UNCRC (incorporation) Scotland Bill seems to have sunk since the Supreme Court ruled it overstepped capacity too.

Shelefttheweb · 06/02/2023 09:13

Not suggesting that named person should not have been thrown out - it absolutely was a breach of human rights. I mean they showed how little they cared about children by not amending the legislation to ensure disabled children were entitled to a support plan (one that complied with Human rights)

Brilliant trans lady from Shetland on Scottish Radio phone in this morning . Unfortunately she was the last caller but basically stated that what she was about say would not be popular with the Trans community . She said the 2004 bill was basically flawed and should be revisited ( as other posters on here have pointed out ) and as a fully transitioned surgically reassigned female she has her passport and driving licence etc in her female gender . She stated that this is not something you make your mind up about in 3 months or even 6 months . It’s life changing . Unfortunately they ran out of time for more of her thoughts but think the Scottish Government should be seeking advice from people like her as opposed to the nappy wearing misogynistic male prostitute/paedophilics that they all love so much .

Shelefttheweb · 06/02/2023 12:54

The GRA should be repealed. Neither drugs nor cosmetic surgery turn a male into a female. People like him have been listened to, it is women that have not.

Rainbowshit · 06/02/2023 13:00

I see Sturgeon has stated that they still intend to challenge the section 35. 🙈🙈

HufflepuffRavenclaw · 06/02/2023 13:19

Very interested to read the accompanying bumf which came with my mammogram appointment this morning. Lots of references to "women with breast cancers" and a reassurance that the mammographer will be female.

What are you going to do if you turn up for screening and it's a transwoman, says DH. Because you'd be a horrible transphobe for not being OK with a biological male manhandling (no pun intended) your breasts into the machine.

Straight to the papers.

If they were considerate of women’s feelings then they would not apply to do this job, which means any that are in the role have shown themselves to have no consideration for women’s feelings.

HufflepuffRavenclaw · 06/02/2023 13:40

Indeed. A decent transwoman would have no interest in making women uncomfortable and would stick to x-raying broken legs or whatever in the hospital. No issue.

But if we are to accept that Isla Bryson and Tiffany Scott are women, just exactly the same as the rest of us, it would be horribly transphobic to reject a transwoman doing your smear or mammogram. It should be non-negotiable that healthcare is single sex.

Latest batshittery from the Scottish Green Party.

The photo they are referring to is Beth Douglas (deeply unpleasant male activist of whom ACH declared 'this is all for Beth' regarding the GRR Bill) posing with knives and a hammer in the colours of the trans flag, while wearing a bra.

Well so glad that someone’s bringing Beth and her friends to a greater audience and thanks again to Wings for bringing this to our attention as otherwise it would have slipped away unnoticed. ACH actually endorsing Beth and the parliament applauding him beggars belief and if this had happened in Westminster the MPs would have been shredded by the MSM
I’m sure Nicola also wants this to go through to attract the 16 year old vote .

If this attracts the 16 year old vote it is because it has been pushed in schools by the Scottish Government. Indoctrinate teens then give them the vote before they can learn about real life.
