WouldBeGood where did you get your programme from? I used to do weights programmes I got from a PT, but I've lost my notebook, and more pertinently my confidence. I'm back in the weights section, but not making the most of it

My PT gave it to me, happy to share, @Tomorrowisanewday ? I struggle with confidence too, and was getting a bit confused, so having it all written in stone helps!

Hi everyone! Just waiting for a flight home after a weekend of over indulgence away.

Tomorrow heralds the start of the post holidays diet & exercise regime. No idea what the scales will say, but I reckon half a stone above the start of the summer is likely, so around a stone to lose. I'll do my next weigh in on Wed morning.

If you wouldn't mind WouldBeGood? I used to be able to back squat 60kg, walked up to the rack today because it was empty, but turned and walked away from it 🙁

@Tomorrowisanewday I got some good tips for squats this week, place the bar on top of back not neck, close grip hands, push elbows back. Makes a difference.! I’ll dm you screenshots of my notebook, and hope you can read it ?

Thanks @WouldBeGood I seem to have come down with some kind of stomach bug ☹️ which means I'm not back in the exercise, but it's helped with the calorie consumption!!

Thanks @WouldBeGood on the mend now, haven't attempted exercise but have stuck to calories.

Tomorrow is day 1 of new regime. There'll be a weigh in and some kind of exercise. End of the school hols, so a good starting point for a refresh!

Didn't manage Monday because I woke up with a headache that'd stop a horse, but I went this morning. Started off with squats with just the bar, then added 2 10kg plates, so 3 sets at 40kg. Will work back up to 60kg. Managed deadlifts and leg press. I'd forgotten what a boost lifting heavy (for me) gives me compared to cardio. Thank you for the encouragement!

Well done @Tomorrowisanewday ! I'm in awe of heavy lifting. Despite all my bodypump classes in recent years, I feel my lifting ability is somewhat puny (I appreciate bodypump is much lower weight higher rep though).

Day 1 so far - I've put on 5Ibs over the summer hols so now 11lb above my target weight. Calories doing ok today, went out for v short run. A bit back to the start on the running, but that's ok.

Need to stay focussed on consistent exercise, particularly strength and running so I can build my fitness levels and feel stronger. I have a big party to go to in a month so would love to get back to my pre-summer weight by then (so I can fit into a dress I have!).

But you do hundreds of reps! If I manage to increase the weight to what I could do before Covid shut down gyms, I might go down to 8 or even 6 reps in a set.

@Tomorrowisanewday I’m in a perpetual state of exhaustion and achiness just now 🤣

Did my first two sessions Monday and Tuesday, upper again today and lower tomorrow.

Its just a different discipline I guess@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo I always thought I’d be rubbish but turns out I’m ok. Makes a change. And sounds like you’re not far off target weight! Especially given holiday fun. My calorie counting has once again been sabotaged by wine. Must try harder

I think that's part of why I enjoy it too - I've always been rubbish at all sports, but turned out I was quite strong - who knew!!

Another who was rubbish at sport and PE. I think that's why I happily work out at home by myself. Planning to do a class later, just not decided which one yet. Two days of strict calorie counting under my belt. I'm going to write a bit to do list of things for the house - if I'm busy I'm less inclined to snack. Spent last night building a desk which kept me from being distracted by the fridge!!
