I just braved the new Les mills strength programme. So more traditional strength training than the bodypump I usually do. Not sure if it's the heat or the class but I can't remember the last time I worked up such a sweat!!

mapleleavesreturn · 19/07/2022 18:44

I did 10 min yoga with dd and danced to some of her pop tunes! Must do more when it's less hot!!

I take my hat off to anyone exercising today!!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/07/2022 06:16

Great way to get a bit of exercise in @mapleleavesreturn I'm awake early because DH is up to go for a run before it gets too hot. I'm envious of his ability to get up and go for it, but iMm far too sleepy to get up for exercise yet!

I will try and do some combat later, humidity permitting. Anyone else got exercise plans for the day?

Oh, my weight is 5Ibs up on pre holiday. So my new goals are to shift that and include strength training more consistently into my routine. Forgot to say I'm managing to do some push ups in my classes on my toes now - a real result for me and my weedy arms/shoulders!

WouldBeGood · 20/07/2022 09:10

Sounds fun @mapleleavesreturn !

I’m going to spin this morning, and will get back on the old lady jogging tomorrow.

i love my strength training @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo . And that’s great with the press-ups - proper achievement. Least you know you can get that weight off! I really must track properly again.

Hope @runningpink and @GoldenSongbird are doing ok? And anyone else on board

mapleleavesreturn · 20/07/2022 09:31

Push ups @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo ? That's amazing, I'm well off that. Good luck with spin @WouldBeGood - so nice to feel cool breeze after that muggy evening.

Ugh there is so much of the summer holidays left! Off to see minions today...

runningpink · 20/07/2022 09:42

I had a food disaster yesterday and was picking at so much rubbish as it was took hot to eat properly.

I managed to drink 4 litres of water, cycle 20 miles and hit 10k steps so not all bad.

Increase of 2Ibs this morning but hoping that’s more from the water than the food so will come off again fast.

Working today and have plans after so probably won’t have time for a run but will definitely hit my 10-15k steps by walking.

Im super impressed with everyone’s exercise, especially with the heat.

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Amazing about the press ups! I really struggle with them.

@WouldBeGood I wish I could learn to love strength training! Maybe one day

Hi all, I've been away and our internet signal was rubbish. I thought I'd been so good - lots of steps and kept an eye on calories but came back to have only lost a fraction of a pound 🙄It just reinforced that it doesn't matter how many steps I do, I need to keep my calories lower to lose weight. But doing more steps and exercise does give me more energy.

It's interesting to read the posts about strength training. I loved Body Pump pre-DC. I might look up some of those workouts. The music was always 'a bop' - as my teen says --no idea why he talks like a gran from the 1960s-- Grin

WouldBeGood · 24/07/2022 11:25

Thats funny about your boy @GoldenSongbird .

Im a bit crushed, as had two things this weekend where there were photos. I look disappointingly hugely fat. Wake up call again. Going to get strict on those calories and log religiously.

And get back on the old lady jogging

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 25/07/2022 12:01

Hi everyone! A busy social week meant I've massively overindulged. So need to get back to both calorie counting and exercise! I'm wiped out after all my socialising.

Sorry about the photos @WouldBeGood it's gutting when that happens. Sure you're not being too hard on yourself and they were just bad angles?

Sounds like we all need to get back on it one way or another! I'm off to drink some water to make a start!!

GoldenSongbird · 25/07/2022 13:54

@WouldBeGood I know what you mean about photos. We have snaps from our recent trips and I look old and fat. But I also agree with @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo that angles can make a massive difference too. On the same day, I have photos where I look enormous and ones where I'm passable.
I feel like I'm reverting to being a child with my eating. My mum always had set meals on set days and I'm currently just eating the same lunch every day because I know it's filling but not too many calories. It's also reminding me of being pregnant because I ate the same for breakfast and lunch every day I was working and pregnant as it was the only way to guarantee I wouldn't be ill at work or on the commute.

WouldBeGood · 25/07/2022 21:48

Sadly it was all the photos so not just rogue one or two.

Went back on an old lady jog today, and tracked properly.

@GoldenSongbird I tend to eat repetitively too when tracking: makes life easier!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 26/07/2022 12:40

Reading this while waiting for my lunch to heat up - I have soup every day during work, it's easy, low calorie...

I have one more social occasion tonight and then I am back on exercise & tracking from tomorrow.

Well done for getting back on it @WouldBeGood You know you can do it! It's definitely the calories that make the biggest difference for me regardless of exercise @GoldenSongbird but I definitely feel better for doing the exercise. I have mapped out my exercise for next 7 days from tomorrow, hopefully it will all go according to plan!

WouldBeGood · 26/07/2022 20:28

Thanks @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo

Ive been busy today, walked into town for my eye test instead of driving, went to the gym and did bits and bobs with DS, dog walk and ok on calories . Must nail this.

Got a party on 27th August Id like to look less like a pudding for!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 27/07/2022 08:28

You can do it @WouldBeGood

Day 1 of 'back on it'. Getting the bus this morning means some welcome extra steps. Got my soup for lunch. Planning some exercise for later. Re-starting calorie tracking.

GoldenSongbird · 27/07/2022 17:02

What are you going to wear to your party @WouldBeGood ?
Well done on mapping all your exercise @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo
I'm going walking with friends later. I'm hoping it perks me up.

WouldBeGood · 27/07/2022 18:19

I’m not sure, @GoldenSongbird ! I want to look superglam as there will be lots of people I haven’t seen for ages, when I was mad and fat in lockdown. So something a bit muttony I feel 😃Hope your walk perks you up! I’m going to start waking to the shop and stuff more, been trying hard this week!

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo I do find planning is key.

@runningpink how are you? Did you get to see your counsellor? Hope all good

runningpink · 27/07/2022 18:41

Hi all,

I bet the photos aren’t as bad as you think @WouldBeGood but great to see you have some new motivation

Sounds like everyone is motivated and on track at least for some aspects.

Im up and down as usual with the food aspect. I start full time hours from
next week so I hope that will help keep me on track and focus as il be too busy to sabotage the diet.

Yes I spoke to the counsellor, I’d reached a point where I’d worked out stuff on my own for the most part but it was good to go over it all with counsellor. The issues are still there but I’m more under control with it all. Thanks for asking.

Good to hear @runningpink 😊

WouldBeGood · 27/07/2022 21:40

Going to attempt bodyattack tomorrow and see how my old knee holds up

runningpink · 28/07/2022 06:14

Oh good luckn@WouldBeGood !

Iv dragged myself out of bed (really struggling to get up in the mornings at the moment, which isn’t like me) and going to do an upper body weights workout before work.

OP posts:
WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 28/07/2022 14:27

Oh well done @runningpink I'd love to fine the energy to exercise in the morning. Let us know how you get on with body attack @WouldBeGood

I'm going to do bodycombat later. Did your walk perk you up @GoldenSongbird ?

WouldBeGood · 28/07/2022 17:54

I decided against it as my knee has been a bit off, went an old lady jog instead but was foiled by clouds of flies round my head, just too disgusting. Did result in a short sprint back to the car, which I quite enjoyed, so I’m going to try a wee bit of sprint training, just to get heart rate up. Going to the gym tomorrow and will do weights. Something cardio on Saturday

Hope the workout was good @runningpink and good luck with combat @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo ! And how’s things today @GoldenSongbird ?

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 29/07/2022 13:28

Combat was good @WouldBeGood thanks. Shame about the run - I hate flies!!

Just been for a short run which was good and hoping I might manage some Core later. Two days of calorie counting has gone well with some calories stashed away for wine!

How's everyone else doing?

WouldBeGood · 29/07/2022 14:08

Good stuff @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo !

I’ve been gym, some weights done. Dog walk to do, and might stroll into town to post something rather than driving. Calories and protein on track so far, but will go to pot with alcohol this weekend. But will do exercise and track away.

Saw an ad for the kilt walk today, wondering if I could walk 14.5 miles round Edinburgh- think the 24 miles would be a bit much!

mapleleavesreturn · 29/07/2022 18:22

My dd hates flies so much she was walking down the road with her ears covered the other day. But then she had one go in her mouth and she was so disgusted!
