Yep they've gone @CuddlyCactus. Can still get a PCR with symptoms though.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 18/04/2022 09:38

I lie, @CuddlyCactus there are still some collection points though home delivery no longer available.

CuddlyCactus · 18/04/2022 10:05

Thanks @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo
I expect they'll stop soon as will have to come out Scot gov budget now.
I may, in fact, have a wee stash in the cupboardHmm

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 18/04/2022 10:11

I went to the supermarket this morning and enjoyed perfectly legally not having to wear a face covering. There were maybe a third of customers choosing to wear one, and I was surprised it was that high tbh. More tellingly the vast majority of staff were choosing to go maskless with only one or two retaining them - I think a lot of us forget what staff forced to wear them the entire working day have gone through.

BTW Sainsbury's are selling lateral flows for less than £2 each which I think is quite a bit less than Boots.

Dinoteeth · 18/04/2022 10:13

I was finding it hard to build a stash, and we have someone going through chemo hence my desire to build a stash.

They would only give me one box at a time

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 18/04/2022 10:33

I was right first time @CuddlyCactus - DH went to get some from the place directed to on the website this morning and they finished yesterday. No stash here and could actually do with some for the first time! Annoying.

ResilienceWanker · 18/04/2022 10:35

@CuddlyCactus

That is NS reported to police, not your spots *@ResilienceWanker* Blush
Grin I know Easter Day is traditionally a slow-news day (Pope gives sermon etc etc) - and it IS a very impressive spot. But even I don't think it really merits a mention on the 10 o clock news Reporting Scotland, maybe

Sadly I don't think NS will be visiting BJ in the slammer, as the Scottish regulations (from memory) only applied if someone refused to put on a mask when asked by a police officer (and didn't have a reasonable excuse). But the picture is nice and will cheer me up anyway... Grin

WouldBeGood · 18/04/2022 10:37

I think it was the law to wear a mask, and not guidance.

But prosecution pointless! It’s clear she broke the law so that’s good enough- hopefully she will stop with the Covid sense now 😃

I went to my local supermarket this morning without a mask and I honestly cannot explain how free I felt, it was wonderful! However, I was quite surprised that 95% of shoppers were wearing them, it was literally no different to last week (very middle class, very high compliance area). I felt like a rebel for the first time in my life Grin

deveronvalley · 18/04/2022 12:29

‘No mask no entry’ sign was still up outside my local Tesco (rural Aberdeenshire) so I wasn’t sure but decided to proceed in maskless anyway. Inside it was about 50/50 mask/no-mask including staff (rural town, Aberdeenshire), all different ages. Extremely rare to see a maskless face there prior to today.

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 18/04/2022 12:35

Just been to nearest M&S... sign in window "face coverings optional"... I went bare faced DD14 took a mask ( in case we were the only ones without and she felt awkward!) but removed it as we entered as it was apparent about 70% of folk had gone without...

CharityShopChic · 18/04/2022 12:37

Back from a mask free wander round the Burrell Collection. Would say 50/50 on the masks.

mibbelucieachwell · 18/04/2022 13:18

Masks were supposed to protect other people I thought. From the covid you might unknowingly have. Now some people are wearing them to make themselves feel safer. For goodness sake.

Exactly this.
CuddlyCactus · 18/04/2022 13:59

I know @mibbelucieachwell
It's FFP2 masks that protect the wearer.

So basically if a vulnerable person still chooses to wear a cloth masks they are protecting the unmasked people around them, not themself 🤷🏼‍♀️
People have forgotten this and it's suited the Gov to peddle unclear messaging around this to get people to comply.

WouldBeGood · 18/04/2022 14:33

How was the Burrell Collection @CharityShopChic?

I could have wept when I saw a couple with a toddler walking about, outside in the sunshine, in St Andrew Square in Edinburgh yesterday. All three were wearing bloody cloth masks. Hmm Save me from this fucked up batshittery. It's not "cute" for a tot to wear a face mask, outside in the fresh air, to be "like Mummy and Daddy" who don't need to wear the fucking things outside anyway it's horrib!e and warped. Utter madness. Hmm

runningpink · 18/04/2022 16:15

I’m heading to the supermarket soon then a class. Will walk via the high street for a nosey and I will report back with my mask percentages in due course.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 18/04/2022 16:37

News just breaking that the police have spoken to Nicola, reminded her that masks are required in some settings and are taking no further action. This is just laughable, the implication that the person who made the fucking law, extended it numerous times and has been all over the media telling people to wear masks was somehow unaware that masks were required in a barbers. Apparently numerous other photos have since come to light of her breaking her own law, which, again, she has defending while others argued it was heavy handed, suggesting this is in fact a pattern of behaviour. But then did anyone seriously think she'd be held to account in the SNP's Scotland even when blatantly breaking the law?

CharityShopChic · 18/04/2022 16:45

@WouldBeGood

How was the Burrell Collection *@CharityShopChic*?
Hoaching. They’ve done a good job although have gin overboard with the kiddie friendly interactive stuff and dumbed down descriptions. Lots of things not even labelled. Nice iced gingerbread in the new wee “espresso bar” at the entrance.

There was a useful breakdown on BBC today about mask type and basically breaking down unless a FFP2 then does naff all! Basically what we have been saying on here for months! Wonder if some of the very vocal mask people will have a second thought about lecturing others if they read it!

We had a day out today 1 person in a cafe of 50 people bothered to stick one on including the staff! Think it goes to show what people's thoughts were to some of the ludicrous rules!

No they're wearing them to show how much more considerate they are than everyone else.

I loved my mask free day. Excited about the bus tomorrow. GrinGrin

Rodedooda · 18/04/2022 18:07

I wonder what proportion of people who've recently had (mild) covid and recovered fully are now maskless? I'm in that camp! Highly highly unlikely that I'll pass anything on.

When I was concerned about potentially picking it up and passing to vulnerable family I wore FFP2s.

dementedma · 18/04/2022 18:08

Stopped wearing mine months ago and dared anyone to challenge me. No one did. DS who is an avid mask wearer gets angry with me. He has had Covid twice. I havent. Just sayin.

Mind you on a city break in Berlin two weeks ago it was mask tastic. Everyone complying, regular announcements. Told several times by people to pull my mask up and wear it properly!

Dinoteeth · 18/04/2022 18:12

We were at Culross in Fife, mask wearers were 50/50 still lots of signs about.

Here's an odd rail from me today, from a bit of knowledge read on a board between the carpark and Palace, why is the history of slavery in Scotland kept quiet?

Mine workers and Salt workers were kept as slaves 🤯, they were the property of the pits they worked in, as were their wives and children. In 1779 an Act of Parliament released them.

Everyone knows about the slavery in the Caribbean but why is it kept so quiet about what went on with our own people?
