Railing (again) about driving tests.

DS was 17 at the beginning of March 2020, Covid totally screwed his driving lessons through various lockdowns and he finally got a test slot in March 2022. Failed. First date he could get for a re-test was today, 5 months later. Failed again.

The earliest slot he can get for another test is 16 JANUARY 2023.* *And that's not even at his preferred test centre.

Fucking joke.

Mine ended up downloading the app that searches for cancellations for you. Yes, you pay a bit for it but it was worth it. Some slots come up at really short notice though!

Railing against a large high street bank. I am trying to invest a large sum of money and decided to use them as they're one of the remaining ones in my town. There was a problem setting up an account for me and I'm trying to phone the local branch to see what's happening. but oh no, there's no such thing as being able to do that. I phone an 0131 number that gives me an 0345 number. when I rang it the girl gave me the same number I was calling her on FFS! Then she says the branch haven't given them a number so I'm supposed to drive 20 miles to see what's going on. There are some things you can't do online or on a bloody app 😡

@WhereAreMyAirpods that's actually awful laid out like that, that's then nearly three years your poor lad has been delayed.

It's so annoying when you have to get a bank on the phone (or a supermarket) they've made it nearly impossible, requiring some sort of stealth ops to get through to an actual person.

The post office drove me near crazy after they sold me a bad travel card, took hours of calls to get my money back.

The driving thing is very impactful. Especially for those in anywhere other than the city centre that might want to work or go to college.

Well after being told yesterday that the bank doesn't have a direct phone number for customers, I called in today and was given a card with .............. their direct phone number on it.

Honestly these call centres get on my wick.
