I'm in the car reading a few threads where folks are fed up with the misery and fighting so thought I'd start a new thread. Not for politics or covid or fighting , just general stuff 🙂

I've had a nice day, off work on hols so we took a wee drive down to Peebles and had lunch, bought a few pies from lovely butcher and now heading home.

ssd · 18/10/2021 21:13

@Groovee, was that your kids art work, how lovely to find that

ElephantOfRisk · 18/10/2021 21:15

Daniel Craig is definitely the best James Bond.

And yes @ssd, I'm hoping the houses were empty.

I wish it was, I have no idea who did it as the family before us had teen girls. The paper had been up for 21 years as I couldn't decide what to do.

ElephantOfRisk · 18/10/2021 21:31

To be fair, we don't actually eat pie very often. New Year (obviously Grin), but probably only very occasionally throughout the year. Though I did make a Sainsbury recipe one which is chicken and mushroom with a sliced potato top which went down well. As for Steak pies, we sued to be able to get Skinners (from Kippen) pies in Dobbies but that whole bit of the store has changed so can't do that anymore Sad

Aww I just assumed it was your DC @groovee. I came across DSs folders from nursery and enjoyed looking through those, a few photos but mainly drawings but I love the captions added by the nursery staff to explain what they are. If your nursery does those Groovee, know that they are appreciated!

I’ll join in if it’s okay.

I can be a havering cuddy at times and I enjoy a good blather.

I went to the cinema today and watched The Last Duel. It was good and I’ll go back and watch it again

And finally our very long hot summer seems to be on its way out and today I’ve had all the windows opened instead of having the ac’s on.

Welcome Smile, where are you that it's been hot for A/C?

It's been mild here and tees are late turning but the heating is definitely back on.

We seem to have had the fire on constantly the last few days which is lovely and cosy but I just want the curl up in front of it with a good book which is impossible with DS about 😂

The best pie I tried was actually a mushroom and Stilton one was amazing and I hate blue cheese!

WouldBeGood · 18/10/2021 22:53

@ssd the bakery in Douglas is great!

WouldBeGood · 18/10/2021 22:53

I’m thinking I need to go away in the Christmas holidays. After Christmas when the DCs go to their dad’s. Any ideas..?

ssd · 18/10/2021 23:01

Are you thinking somewhere hot @WouldBeGood, or like London or similar?
Im enjoying this thread, its good to hear about everyone's day and to get ideas for tomorrow's dinner Grin

ssd · 18/10/2021 23:03

@Scottishskifun, i love a coal fire, my mum and dad had one, I'd kill for a fireplace

ElephantOfRisk · 18/10/2021 23:08

Town or country, UK or away? @WouldBeGood

Liverpool is nice for a city break.

OP posts:
ssd · 18/10/2021 23:12

Yes, we went to Liverpool the year before covid started. Dh loves the football but theyve been to anfield so we just went to the cabin and seen the museums etc. It was nice. But we didn't take a ferry cross the mersey cos i was humphing about the cost. Wish we had now. But we did go up a radio tower that had great views.

ssd · 18/10/2021 23:13

And dh got a haircut in penny lane...

ElephantOfRisk · 18/10/2021 23:19

I've tried to do the Ferry twice. First time is was cancelled for the first time in decades and we didn't have time left to try again. The 2nd time I wasn't well, i had a migraine and being on a boat just wasn't the best idea. To be fair, my sisters went on it and I don't think it was that exciting :)

I enjoyed the Cavern club and just wandering about and the museums and eating out.

Liverpool is a good call, never been. Want to chill a bit.

Tomorrow night I’m making chicken legs roasted with oranges and honey
