I'm in the car reading a few threads where folks are fed up with the misery and fighting so thought I'd start a new thread. Not for politics or covid or fighting , just general stuff 🙂

I've had a nice day, off work on hols so we took a wee drive down to Peebles and had lunch, bought a few pies from lovely butcher and now heading home.

OH was speaking to someone who said he went for booster appointment but refused flu jag due to a previous bad reaction.
He was told No - it's both or neither so left without even getting his booster as he didn't want to make a scene.

Anybody heard of this before?

That sounds bonkers. My mum got her flu jag privately a few weeks ago. Will she be forced to have it again Confused That can't be right as loads of people will have had their flu jags by the time their booster rolls round
WouldBeGood · 16/11/2021 15:40

That’s specifically not correct @RaraRachael. You are indeed allowed to get one and not the other.

ElephantOfRisk · 16/11/2021 15:58

My DH has had previous bad reaction's to Flu vaccines so doesn't get it. He said he didn't want it and there was a bit of a Paddington stare out but he had his covid one and not the flu one.

Glad the person has been proved to have been speaking shite. I thought it sounded ridiculous but he was adamant this is what he had been told.

Maybe it's because he mentioned having a reaction and they were worried about giving him any vaccination then it got a bit lost in translation?

Sounds like chinese whispers to me.

There's actually something good on telly tonight. Ch4, miriam margoyles and alan cumming, lost in Scotland. 9.15pm i think.

ElephantOfRisk · 16/11/2021 20:01

Can't be doing with either of them @ssd but just as well we all like different things Grin

I don't particularly like Miriam Margoyles (I think she can be unnecessarily rude and crude) but paired with Alan, and the stories behind where they've chosen to visit to celebrate their Scottish roots, the programme is actually rather good.

Much more sensitive and interesting than I would have expected.

Oh what a week, I woke up really unwell on Sunday, booked a PCR. Felt dreadful driving there and back, came home and slept and when I woke up, I just knew it was sinusitis. GP gave me antibiotics and steroids for my nose. What a game changer. He's also given me a nasal rinse.

Can feel a difference today. I'm due my Covid booster on Saturday.

Groovee · 18/11/2021 07:46

Oh and the PCR was back in 13.5 hours and negative.

WouldBeGood · 18/11/2021 08:05

Oh, @Groovee, what a shame. Hope you feel better soon

www.nhsinform.scot/vaccinebooking

Portal now open for over 50 vaccine booster booking. I'm too young for it just yet Grin

Got dh and mine booked in the only date they had appointments available in our town.

Every other date showed no appointments except for one day between Christmas and New Year 🤦‍♀️

GrouchyKiwi · 18/11/2021 09:56

Feel better soon Groovee.

Have just found out one of my cousins was "ejected" (police spokeman's word) from a moving car yesterday. She got really serious injuries, and Drs don't know yet whether there'll be any brain damage. It's blood scary.

prettybird · 18/11/2021 10:32

Hope you feel better soon Groovee There is a really nasty cold-come-sinusitis going around at the moment Sad I had it about a month ago and genuinely felt much worse than when I got Covid two weeks ago (which is why I was genuinely Shock when my LFT came back positive).

That's really Shock Grouchykiwi - do they know more about what happened? Fingers crossed that she recovers from her injuries.

It's a grey day today but dh and I are still going to go out for our daily walk (re-started on Monday). I even managed half an hour at rugby training last night but as I was starting to feel breathless, I came away early. Easing myself back in Halo

WouldBeGood · 18/11/2021 11:04

@GrouchyKiwi how horrible. What a shock 💐

UmpteenthTime · 18/11/2021 15:18

After umpteen attempts, we made it to Scotland last week and had a fantastic time.
Caught up with family and friends we haven’t seen in ages.
Great for the soul but need to detox for about a month.

Oh that's awful. I hope she is ok x
Groovee · 18/11/2021 16:21

Thanks everyone. Have turned a corner today.

While I have been in bed, my father in law has been finishing the painting in the living room and dining room. It looks fab. We need another coat on the dining room but it all looks so fresh.

WouldBeGood · 18/11/2021 16:52

That looks great @Groovee!

GrouchyKiwi · 18/11/2021 17:30

Glad you're feeling somewhat better, Groovee. Paintwork looks lovely; I love the colour.

GrouchyKiwi · 18/11/2021 17:32

Police don't really know what happened with my cousin. Hopefully they'll find out more if she's able to talk to them when she's awake.

ElephantOfRisk · 18/11/2021 18:31

That's awful @GrouchyKiwi I hope that she recovers quickly Sad

Good news Groovee, glad you are feeling better, décor looks great, will be nice to have it all feeling fresh for Christmas.
