I'm in the car reading a few threads where folks are fed up with the misery and fighting so thought I'd start a new thread. Not for politics or covid or fighting , just general stuff 🙂

I've had a nice day, off work on hols so we took a wee drive down to Peebles and had lunch, bought a few pies from lovely butcher and now heading home.

Thanks all, it really is lovely to have a change of scenery.

casinoroyale4ever · 05/11/2021 09:07

Oooooh Italy, what a great time of year to go, enjoy titsintiers

Groovee · 05/11/2021 13:03

Gosh, I've missed a lot.

We had Education Scotland in this week. Previously the school was inspected in 2018/19 a d the nursery was graded weak. They returned this week and said the saw massive improvement and could see where our vision was. They gave clear guidance to help us on our way which we are grateful for. So one less stress now.

I got an appointment for my eye. After being told it was 18 months, I'm being seen on Monday. I'm all over the place with emotions. Last night we needed to go out and it was a nightmare as the street lights, car lights, traffic lights were all like coloured Ferris wheels so I do need it done soon.

Hope everyone is well.

Groovee · 05/11/2021 19:47

Scrap that, had a phone call cancelling my appointment. The whole clinic has been cancelled.

Haudyourwheesht · 05/11/2021 20:19

That's crap @Groovee. After all that relief. Feckin NHS.,

I was very disappointed that there are no organised displays this year for the DDs but as it turns out they're both a bit 'hingy' so we wouldn't have give anywhere anyway.

GrouchyKiwi · 05/11/2021 20:24

Sorry about your cancelled appointment, Groovee. That's shite.

We watched our town's display from our lounge, which was very civilised (and warm).

It was FIL's birthday today so I cooked us a roast beef, including homemade Yorkshire puddings, which I never do (too lazy). And DH and I got to go to the supermarket together on a fun date. It's the small things.

Scottishskifun · 05/11/2021 20:24

We have quite a few organised displays over the weekend up here but I didn't realise that Aberdeen City had none so all the surrounding towns displays are going to be way way more busy than usual!

We decided to watch some from our house instead rather than take DS out past his bedtime to them. There is enough people doing private ones that we can watch for 5 mins and be done!

prettybird · 05/11/2021 20:49

I'm stuck inside, having tested positive yesterday Sad

First public events I'd been to since last March last weekend: two large funerals (one in Newcastle, one in Glasgow) and a Halloween Party last weekend Sad

Scottishskifun · 05/11/2021 21:09

@prettybird hope you have a mild case and can rest! Lots of high vitamin veg (brocoli, spinach, kale etc have soups) studies have shown that diet during covid also helps.

I think it's pretty impossible to avoid if it wasn't a social event it would have been from school/uni or just siting having a meal somewhere etc.

Haudyourwheesht · 05/11/2021 21:12

Aww @prettybird that's crap. It really does feel like it's tearing through at the moment.

prettybird · 05/11/2021 21:25

We've been really careful & followed the guidelines for the whole period, only seeing my dad (who was in our "bubble" during lockdown) and ds and maintaining distance from everyone else (except when training/playing rugby Wink) - last weekend was the first time we'd really been at any "public" events. The timings suggest it was the funeral in Newcastle - where very few people wore masks, either in the crematorium or in the pub afterwards.

I'm feeling ok Smile - a bit of a temperature on Wednesday and still sneezing a lot - but these seem to be more common symptoms in the double-vaccinated, according to the Zoe app. I was actually surprised at the LFT as I'd felt much worse (and had negative LFTs) when I had the "mega" cold a few weeks ago Confused

I'm following MN Boot Camp at the moment anyway - so having lots of green veg Grin (I particularly like buttery brussels Wink) and the friends who we were supposed to be round to last night for a meal (our first meal out at friends since last March) brought round the food we were supposed to have with them and left it at a safe distance on our drive for us to pick up Grin

The biggest risk is that dh and I will murder each other with 10 days stuck inside together Grin

Groovee · 05/11/2021 21:41

Get well soon @prettybird

WouldBeGood · 06/11/2021 05:47

That’s rubbish @Groovee. But glad the inspection went well.

@prettybird get well soon

ssd · 07/11/2021 10:24

Its such bad luck @prettybird. But it feels kind of inevitable at this stage, doesn't it? I feel I'm just waiting to catch it. Ds thinks he has it, awaiting a pcr. But he doesn't live at home.
We were all at a wedding in England a few months ago, no masks, stayed the weekend in a very busy hotel, all day inside at a very big wedding...and we didn't catch it...
I feel its waiting for me somewhere though!!
Sorry to hear its caught you and your dh but glad your dad avoided it.

Try not to murder dh Grin

prettybird · 07/11/2021 10:35

Still just sneezing! Grin

It seems strange that ds is down in Glasgow and we won't get to see him Sad but he had a nice night last night at SIL's (after a nightmare journey down from Aberdeen) and will be staying with my dad (so gets a chance to see my brother, who goes home to France on Thursday) tonight (although he'll be on the sofa as db is in the spare bedroom).

Let's hope that Scotland reward him with a victory today Grin

RaraRachael · 07/11/2021 10:48

Sorry to be dense but looking for helo.

I will be in Glasgow in December at a large indoor event, so need to prove I'm double jabbed. I thought I had to download a Covid Status app, but when I downloaded the only one that looked suitable, it was only for being pinged for track and trace. Nowhere could I find anything about my vaccination status.

Is there a separate app specifically for this? Confused

dementedpixie · 07/11/2021 10:56

www.nhsinform.scot/nhs-scotland-covid-status download it from this link. I couldn't find it on the Play store. Looks like this:

You need photo ID to set it up

prettybird · 07/11/2021 11:08

And don't get too impatient with it while you're trying to set it up! Grin It took me a few attempts (and it makes you go back to the start each time Hmm) but that could've been because I was trying not long after it launched. It might be better now Smile

I used my driving licence as my photo ID to start the matching process.
