I'm in the car reading a few threads where folks are fed up with the misery and fighting so thought I'd start a new thread. Not for politics or covid or fighting , just general stuff 🙂

I've had a nice day, off work on hols so we took a wee drive down to Peebles and had lunch, bought a few pies from lovely butcher and now heading home.

@ICouldHaveCheckedFirst - I'm 60 but no other "risk" factors. I understood that you should only have your booster 6 months after your 2nd jag and that while there has been some suggestion it could be brought forward to 5? months, I didn't think that that was official policy. So I'm not concerned that I don't have an official date yet Smile

ElephantOfRisk · 28/10/2021 09:29

DH gets his via work, they texted him and asked him to arrange it, which he did and when he was sitting with his sleeve rolled up, he was told he was 2 days too early and they wouldn't give him it. He went to rebook and couldn't as system thinks he's had it.

@Ladylunchalot There is no cold, like football stadium cold.

Scottishskifun · 28/10/2021 09:50

I always get too warm at Murrayfield think it's because it's always packed in like sardines!

Glad the rail strike is off will make getting to the rugby in a few weeks easier! We drive as its cheaper and don't fancy the pissed train back with a toddler but we were looking at all the park and rides around Edinburgh and outside as the airport one is crazy enough on a normal game!

Does anyone know if the Christmas lights and markets are going ahead in Edinburgh this year?

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 28/10/2021 09:56

Ooh is the rail strike off?! Thats good, it would have been chaos!

I'm stuck working from home doing paperwork I'm not really qualified to do, but my boss asked me to have a go, so here we are!

I'm not sure about Edinburgh christmas markets, but I know Dundee is going ahead with theirs, it sounds magical, but the reality is always a bumpy, flooded ice rink and 4 of exactly the same stall selling over priced pick and mix!

And I love christmas too!

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 28/10/2021 10:48

All charges dropped against Marion Millar!!

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 28/10/2021 10:49

Also just saw on the vaccine appointment site that teachers and support staff can book their booster, in case that's useful info for anyone.

GrouchyKiwi · 28/10/2021 11:01

@BlameItOnTheBlackStar

All charges dropped against Marion Millar!!
Thank fuck! I am so pleased for her; I hope she (and her legal team) raise merry hell about that absolute bullshit.
WouldBeGood · 28/10/2021 11:09

@BlameItOnTheBlackStar thanks for that news! It’s made my day, actually feel quite emotional. Is the tide turning..?

BingBongToTheMoon · 28/10/2021 11:09

@Scottishskifun “ always get too warm at Murrayfield”
This made me laugh, you’ve clearly never been to watch the ice hockey in the rink next door. Absolutely Baltic!

Haha nope just the rugby and we are under the stand cover! We usually dress foe the cold then end up stripping off as we are shoulder to shoulder with everyone else in massive jackets! 😂

I know, it's absolutely made my bloody week.

With the Nolan investigation and this, I'd like to think that the world is waking up to the realities of the situation for women. I don't think the SG will give in easily though; they're not exactly known for having good grace in situations like this, and NS personally has gone pretty far down the anti-woman line.

I know not many on here are pro-Indy, but I always have been, and tbh they've fucked it for me.

WouldBeGood · 28/10/2021 12:53

I think you’re not alone there @BlameItOnTheBlackStar. DP feels the same as a pro Indy person. And Twitter full of those disaffected too.

It’s a massive distraction from important politics as well as being dangerous.

ElephantOfRisk · 28/10/2021 13:25

Ahem, Lovely as all that news is and I couldn't agree more, this is meant to be a no politics thread folks :)

It's easy to get drawn in even with just general chit chat though. I was just about to put a link in for something myself and then realised where we were.

I'm just keen to have a thread where no more than a passing glance is made to politics.

Speaking of Murrayfield. One year we managed to secure tickets for us all to go to the Scotland v England game. DS1 fell asleep about 15 minutes in much to the amusement of some of the other attendees. In his defence it was a pretty boring game.

DH took them to the edinburgh v glasgow game another time (either boxing day or the 27th?) and it was really cold so they wore ski suits, I opted just to visit my mum and then went to pick them up after the game by which time it was chucking with snow and the motorway home was shut. We tried many diversions, ended up in South Queensferry where the chippy was open, we got ourselves fed and watered and then fully expected to spend the night in the car and then thinking at least the boys were wrapped up well in ski suits.

We manage to succeed where others failed though and my wee clio made it up the hill and we managed to join the motorway further up where it had just re-opened. Happy days

YY to Murray field ice rink being baltic, I used to help run the game clock here for games and used to do it with a hot water bottle tucked into my jumper. My feet were still freezing though!

Fife was awful too, paisley and Dundee were much warmer, but I have to say, the ice was must nicer quality in the cold rinks!

ElephantOfRisk · 28/10/2021 13:40

I was never a fan of skating - too uncoordinated and also I used to think the ice was just a layer over deeper water like a swimming pool and was scared I'd fall through....

One school holidays when DSs were maybe about 9ish, we all went for a skating lesson at our local rink and I was okay for a few minutes but then fell flat on my back and hit my head on the ice, i was really woozy for a while but avoided major injury due to my pony tail I think. Never again!

Oops, I’ve now posted the news on railing instead

Groovee · 28/10/2021 14:43

My mum got her second Covid vaccine in April and has an appointment for 12th Nov. So I was about a couple of weeks after her. She got her appointment through yesterday. Will check in a week or so.

Scottishskifun · 28/10/2021 14:56

@elephantofrisk ha some games we have been at have been dull just either kicking back and fourth or just nothing happening! DS has definitely fallen asleep in games but his first game he was 6 weeks old so can't blame him 😂

We have been season ticket holders for a while now when Scotland weren't as good and there wasn't a wait list for season passes! Scotland vs England at the 6 nations is always entertaining but due to where we sit in season pass area.
DH (also English) will support Scotland I will support England but actually its all good fun and jest. The only thing that I really don't like for those games is booing through anthems type behaviour as its just unsporting!

GrouchyKiwi · 28/10/2021 15:13

My first match at Murrayfield was the terrible one against Italy where they won in the first 10 minutes. Grin But I did get to see my first-ever All Blacks match there.

Weather is miserable today, very wet, so we're all hunkered down inside. Girls are painting Autumn scenes.

ssd · 28/10/2021 16:36

I went swimming this morning ,trying to get a bit fitter. Did 30 lengths which wasn't bad as i haven't swum for ages. But i came home and have sat on couch all day EATING Shock. I need my jaws wired 🤦‍♀️

dementedpixie · 28/10/2021 16:39

I'm going to a combat class at 5pm so I've got my sports stuff on now. Ds rugby thing is on tonight so he'll come back filthy. Dh will need to come home in time to take him as I'll be out.

Haven't done much today except identify things that need to be done e.g. hoovering. Didnt do it though Grin

Scottishskifun · 28/10/2021 16:40

@ssd well done on swimming! If you have a high protein snack within an hour of exercise (I used to have some chicken strips with some spice on) then it should curb hunger pangs

ssd · 28/10/2021 16:40

Identifying it as half way there Grin
