I'm in the car reading a few threads where folks are fed up with the misery and fighting so thought I'd start a new thread. Not for politics or covid or fighting , just general stuff 🙂

I've had a nice day, off work on hols so we took a wee drive down to Peebles and had lunch, bought a few pies from lovely butcher and now heading home.

Isn't jelly tots the accepted alternative to glace cherries?

I have a sweet tooth but I'm not really a biscuit person.

I made a lazy dinner of sausage casserole from a packet mix - can't be arsed as Wednesday is a busy day for me. Looking forward to tomorrow as I only work till lunchtime. Newly back after tattie holidays and already counting the days till the Christmas ones - yes, I love my work so much Grin

GrouchyKiwi · 27/10/2021 19:42

DH explained tattie holidays to me recently. I am becoming more Scottish by the day. Grin

dementedpixie · 27/10/2021 19:46

Depends where you live in Scotland though. Where I am we only get 1 week in October and it was never called a tattie holiday.

ElephantOfRisk · 27/10/2021 19:56

Some nice sounding dinners :)

It's "fridge clear out" pasta for us tomorrow so very little work involved. There is chorizo, meatballs, mushrooms, some cooked chicken thighs and maybe half a pack of salami. Add in some onion, peas, the pasta sauce and the pasta and we're done!

We get 2 weeks (north east) and it's always been called tattie holidays even though nobody goes tattie howking any more. Painful memories of my one and only attempt at tattie picking - back breaking work for one morning, it started pishing rain so we were sent home and I never went back.

prettybird · 27/10/2021 20:13

I'm having cold (high fat low carb) cheeseburger pie (from the freezer) tonight with buttery brussel sprouts Smile

Rugby training was cancelled because of the downpours Sad(or should that be Smile....Wink) but I'd got the portion out the freezer as something easy for when I would have got in at 9.

I'm late to the party but have enjoyed reading the thread. Tobermory Tatties, tattie holidays and all!

DH logged in to get his vaccine passport, and found out the date for his booster (& flu) jag. I did the same. As long as you meet one of the list of criteria (eg over 50) you can check. Was very surprised. Wonder if we'll get letters too? DH is in a different age bracket so he had his several weeks before me, but we are both scheduled to get our boosters on the same day - in less than 2 weeks from now.

WouldBeGood · 27/10/2021 20:49

Goodness @ICouldHaveCheckedFirst

Something to think about, not sure about boosters and flu jab

Tattie holidays takes me back. North easterner (ish) here too

RaraRachael · 27/10/2021 21:13

What do you have to log in to to get vaccine passport?

dementedpixie · 27/10/2021 21:20

www.nhsinform.scot/nhs-scotland-covid-status you download the app on this link

You can also log into vacs.nhs.scot/csp?id=csm_login This website and request a paper copy. You need your unique user name from your vaccine appointment letter or you can recover your user name if you can't find your letter

prettybird · 27/10/2021 21:22

I think my booster jag is too far away: my 2nd jag was on 2 June and there's no record of any time for a booster on the NHS Scotland Vaccine status app. I'd not be due it until 2 December.

Or is there somewhere else I should be signing in? Confused

dementedpixie · 27/10/2021 21:24

I dont think it will show up until you are closer to when it will be due.

Wbeezer · 27/10/2021 21:33

@dementedpixie your biscuits look great, i used butter in mine and they came out a bit posh and shortbreadish, the menfolk prefer them soft and pale with chewy jam. I didn't quite get the icing right either. If they'd been more complementary I might have had another go but they blew it!

ssd · 27/10/2021 21:50

Oh yum

dementedpixie · 27/10/2021 21:53

Rail strike is called off!

WouldBeGood · 27/10/2021 22:07

Thars great news about the rail strike @dementedpixie

ssd · 27/10/2021 22:12

I always said it wouldn't go ahead

ssd · 27/10/2021 22:36

13 degrees in Glasgow tonight, this warm weather is crazy Shock

It didn't feel warm being in the pissing rain cheering on Motherwell tonight, glad I was wrapped up Grin

The SG ad says that the booster is for over 60s?

dementedpixie · 27/10/2021 23:15

@WouldBeGood

The SG ad says that the booster is for over 60s?
That might be who they are vaccinating right now but over 50s will be eligible eventually. My 78 year old mum only got her booster last week

My 84 year old dad got AZ for his 1st 2 jags and got his booster last week - Pfizer - along with his flu jag. He said it was all very efficient. Smile

WouldBeGood · 27/10/2021 23:41

Sorry if I’ve derailed, just thought it was over 50s. I can relax now

pretty, I had my second on 6th June, so I was very surprised. If you're in one of the eligible groups as per the screenshot from dementedpixie (over 50 etc etc) then it would be worth checking.

If we also get letters I'll let you know!
