I'm in the car reading a few threads where folks are fed up with the misery and fighting so thought I'd start a new thread. Not for politics or covid or fighting , just general stuff 🙂

I've had a nice day, off work on hols so we took a wee drive down to Peebles and had lunch, bought a few pies from lovely butcher and now heading home.

Sorry about your cat Wbeezer. Flowers

WouldBeGood · 22/10/2021 09:03

@BlameItOnTheBlackStar every year I mean to go to Jupiter Artland and have never yet made it! I think it shuts for winter so next year!

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 22/10/2021 11:36

It's absolutely lovely and quite fun for kids too

Wbeezer · 22/10/2021 13:09

Sorry for being a bit of a downer, got a bit of an urge to tell people about her, not one for bottling things up!

shouldistop · 22/10/2021 13:23

It's another sunny day here. I'm really tired, been up pretty much since 3am as the baby was up and down every hour from then. I cancelled my exercise class today as I was too tired but I wish I'd just gone as I'm no less tired at home.
Counting down til baby nap time at 2 then i can have a cup of tea before school run. He's currently practicing his cruising and trying to get the tv remotes .... maybe we watch too much tv Grin

GrouchyKiwi · 22/10/2021 13:37

Started off miserable here, now it's sunny. So will take the dog and the kids out for a brief wander soon. Dog is only allowed 10 minute walks right now, which is really tough!

Wbeezer · 22/10/2021 17:21

Managed to pick enough sloes to get a small batch of sloe gin on the go, even though some community service people haf just cut the hedge i had earmarked. I had to explain why i was rummaging through their pile of clippings but they ended up helping me find the best branches!

WouldBeGood · 22/10/2021 19:33

@shouldistop if it makes you feel better, DS’ first word was”doof!” (The remote) 😳

ElephantOfRisk · 22/10/2021 20:02

Sounds like lots of good stuff being done today. We've done a Costco trip (ouch!), taken the car for a wash and I've just sorted my supermarket click and collect for tomorrow. It's been an expensive day. I got a lovely fleece lined jumper for student DS2 which I'll get packed up and posted to Aberdeen as it's baltic and he's scared to have the heating on too much in his freezing flat.

I saw a wee video somewhere where a bloke offered a choice of either a toy or a household object to his baby/toddler and they went for the household object virtually every time. We should all have saved our money and given them a pan and a wooden spoon Grin

It was a lovely sunny day here too, it really makes all the difference to my mood.
I spend a couple of hours at my friends house for a natter, came home and sorted through my underwear drawers, whilst drinking peppermint tea.
Oh the glamour!

My car could do with a wash too, I'll maybe pop through the car wash on Monday.
I've no plans for the weekend other than SCD watching, but will get bits and bobs of sorting/clearing done.
I much prefer going out during the week and since I don't work it makes sense, weekdays are quieter with no kids!

ElephantOfRisk · 22/10/2021 20:44

DH paid for a handwash of the car. He's taken on board my suggestion that he looks after it properly which essentially means getting someone else to look after it properly...

He claims we don't have any of the proper stuff but I seem to have managed to hand wash my car(s) for the last 20 years with the equipment we have without damaging the paintwork or wheels.

Sorry to hear about your cat Flowers. I have 2 of my own and couldn't imagine how we'd be if something happened to them
dementedpixie · 22/10/2021 20:52

I went to body pump and attack. Came home to check dd had got up for online Uni which she had. Ds is now only a half day at school on Fridays so collected him and went to Tesco.

Have done the school clothes washing and am now having my glass bottle of wine.

P.s. I go to classes so I can avoid looking at all the housework I'm supposed to be doing Grin

ssd · 22/10/2021 21:23

Im tired and stuffed and fat and fed up. And ive wandered again, not covid this time, but England being used as meaning the UK. Arrgghh it just annoys me. Should get off here before im banned again, id miss you lot.

GrouchyKiwi · 22/10/2021 21:38

We're watching season 1 of Line of Duty and we're at the episode where it's all getting very tense and grim. I am getting so nervous!

ElephantOfRisk · 22/10/2021 21:40

Ah @ssd. we'd miss you too. Every now and then I get the urge to tell someone exactly what I think of them knowing it would get me banned and sometimes it seems worth it...Grin

I keep returning to the phrase: Imagine how stupid the average person is, and then remember that 50% of them are stupider than that.

I've had an unintended nap so will probably be awake later than I wanted to be. We had a costco lasagne for dinner so I also ate too much and have had a snacky evening on top.

I can't take credit, it was a George Carlin quote.

I will remember that phrase @ElephantOfRisk Grin...
Am awake and the house smells of wet washing

ISpyCobraKai · 23/10/2021 14:35

Another one who loves the phrase, best I've heard in ages.

Groovee · 23/10/2021 14:37

We've finally papered the feature wall that I bought paper for in January. 🎉🎉 I love it so much that we've ordered more and will do the rest of the living room. Found soft truffle for the dining room. So will paint the walls. My fire is gone and blocked up with a vent and papered over. The surround has been painted white and the hearth is being painted now. I do love it.

Just a rough photo from checking how the surround looks.

We tried to look for a sofa last night but nothing jumped out at me.

ElephantOfRisk · 23/10/2021 14:44

That's looking good @groovee. Is that a Laura Ashley paper?

I don't have any wallpaper in the house but I sometimes get tempted. Especially to get something wild and funky for our tiny downstairs loo.

I didn't get round to any laundry today but might go and rustle some up. There is ironing needing done but still in a can't be bothered mood.
