I'm in the car reading a few threads where folks are fed up with the misery and fighting so thought I'd start a new thread. Not for politics or covid or fighting , just general stuff 🙂

I've had a nice day, off work on hols so we took a wee drive down to Peebles and had lunch, bought a few pies from lovely butcher and now heading home.

I'm off to the Japanese garden today, since its going to be sunny.
cowden-garden.myshopify.com/
It's an hour and a half or so from here but plenty of loud singing to be done in my car on the way, and only petrol costs since I'll take some food and tea in a flask, and I get in free with my blue badge.

dementedpixie · 21/10/2021 07:35

Sunny but baltic though; better wrap up warm. I have 1 child to get to school and another that needs to be online for Uni at 9am. She only gets onto campus 1 day every fortnight which is crap.

Not much planned today but I have a combat class at 5pm and ds goes to rugby training at 6pm - dh needs to come home early to take him as I'm not giving up my combat!

ISpyCobraKai · 21/10/2021 07:48

I'm taking my giant coat it's like wearing a duvet.
Dd and her Bf are both online too for College/Uni, its actually suits them since they aren't hugely sociable, him particularly.

I'll leave the combat to you, me and exercise do not mix!

ssd · 21/10/2021 07:53

I'm off today, but taking it easy. If taking it easy involves 3 loads of washing to get done and dried, beds to change, food order to think about, admin and insurance stuff to figure out...still I've just had my tea and toast and am in bed so can't moan.
Am glad to hear its meant to be sunny today, enjoy the day folks!

Suits dd quite well as she's unsociable too. I've made sure she's awake as she's not a morning person either Grin.

Apparently only 12 girls on her whole course as its Computer Science she's doing.

I'm still half dressed - I'm on here instead of getting ready

ISpyCobraKai · 21/10/2021 08:19

Dd's BF is doing that too, 4th year of a Masters at Glasgow, Dd is at college, 2nd year of HND in Bioscience.
I was up visiting them yesterday, no idea when I'll next get up because of the road debacle during COP26.
They are at junction 15 of the M8, I join at 30 and 19-15 are busy all the time as it is without extra mayhem.

ssd · 21/10/2021 08:28

You'd probably be better off getting the train @ISpyCobraKai. If they aren't on strike....God knows how I'll get to work...

WouldBeGood · 21/10/2021 08:35

Oh, please report on the Japanese garden @ISpyCobraKai! I keep meaning to go.

ISpyCobraKai · 21/10/2021 08:45

Yes, the trains are a problem too, plus I can't walk far so wouldn't manage from the station to Dd's flat.
Its a pain.

I will report back on the garden, it looks really nice.

ssd · 21/10/2021 08:48

I've never heard of this but it does sound lovely. Im imagining @ISpyCobraKai all wrapped up on a bench with her flask and piecesGrin.
I love a flask and a bench. Did you know you can buy wee foldable mats that you can keep in a bag for damp benches? Of course i haven't got round to getting one yet but i will one day. A foldable mat and a flask is my idea of heaven Smile

GrouchyKiwi · 21/10/2021 08:50

Morning.

Enjoy the Japanese Garden CobraKai! I too would enjoy a report.

Hope the shopping goes well Finfintyfint.

Relatively standard day today. Children will have work to do despite it being half term (we home educate), and I have to take dog for her latest post-op check up. Hopefully we'll be allowed to take her for walks longer than 5 minutes now. She's so bored, poor thing.

We're supposed to do art today so I have to think of something to do.

And DD2 is helping me make borsch for dinner tonight, so that's fun.

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 21/10/2021 11:45

@Finfintytint

I’m off to Glasgow shopping. DH and I are having a few days away in Carnoustie soon and I need something to wear. No idea where I’ll find anything though. I’m mostly a jeans and T shirt person.

Will have a swim later then back to work tomorrow.

What's taking you to Carnoustie?
Finfintytint · 21/10/2021 14:24

We’re just having a couple of nights away staying at the Golf Hotel.
It was always DH’s favourite holiday place as a child and likes going back there.

Groovee · 21/10/2021 17:07

Ah ds (nearly 19) got himself a bar job at Toby Carvery. He can walk there and fits round college. Delighted to get him out the house.

Wbeezer · 21/10/2021 17:18

I was thinking of going to the Scottish Small Holding Festival in Forfar this weekend, apparently they have a team of agility pigs! I must check the ticketing details. Could do with cheering up, our dear little cat collapsed and died in front of us on Monday and were a bit traumatised, we think she had a stroke. It's put the wind up DH, she was getting on in age, overweight and rather inactive, he's decided to join the gym.
I live near the Japanese Garden, it should be lovely at the moment with the autumn colour starting. In the summer they tried barbeque evenings, BYOB, the food was decent not exciting but the best bit was wandering round the gardens when it was quiet.

ssd · 21/10/2021 17:30

Thats fab @Groovee, get him out and earning.
I have a confession...ive been stupid and been drawn into a pointless argument about covid with someone on another thread...killing grannies has been mentioned but not by me...ahh christ that'll teach me to wander Grin. Am now firmly staying here.

Scottishskifun · 21/10/2021 17:58

@ssd 😂 you didn't go to the covid boards did you......brave lady!

ISpyCobraKai · 21/10/2021 17:58

The garden was lovely, small but that suits me.
I sat for ages reading after I'd walked round and taken photos, then again without getting my phone out constantly.
I ate my lunch at their outside cafe tables as they were barely being used.
There's a couple of woodland walks too but I didn't bother with those, I can do that anywhere.
The sun being out definitely made it.

I overheard a couple muttering about me wearing earphones and staring at my phone, I stifled a laugh!

It won't take much time at all for just the garden, but definitely worth a visit as its v pretty and relaxing.

I'm not sure but someone was winding me up, usually i ignore but i bit back....silly meGrin

ssd · 21/10/2021 18:01

Those pictures are lovely @ISpyCobraKai, glad you got a sunny day

Scottishskifun · 21/10/2021 18:04

Wow sun we have had a mixture of snow, sleet and hail up here on and off all day!
It's been freezing!

ssd · 21/10/2021 18:06

Whereabouts are you @Scottishskifun? I even got a washing out today, but it didn't dry

Scottishskifun · 21/10/2021 18:17

Aberdeenshire. It had moments of looking OK and then hail started 😂
I love proper snow but this was more wet snowflakes which switched pretty soon to sleety blurghhh.
DS went to nursery with his ski trousers in his bag though 😂 we find as he's now outside for nursery so much that they help!

Need to find him some proper waterproof gloves for winter though which aren't £30 😬 as he will no doubt lose them!

dementedpixie · 21/10/2021 18:46

I had towels out and they are mostly dry
Have done my combat and got showered.
Dh has dropped ds at rugby and gone to sainsbury's to pick up the beer and wine supplies for tomorrow night (not a party, just the usual Friday chill with a glass of beer/wine)

ssd · 21/10/2021 18:57

Oh i wish i could have a nice glass of wine, it doesn't agree with me now. I hardly drink at all now, can't handle it at all.
@Scottishskifun, try aldi and lidl for kids warm gloves, am sure i seen some recently
