Ssd it was for group classes, they were booking up so quickly and I was so pleased to get a space! Hopefully won't be too long a wait til I can't try again

WouldBeGood · 14/05/2021 18:57

And shutting the schools was the mistake. Not the opening.

WouldBeGood · 14/05/2021 18:57

This is destroying businesses, and hope.

forfucksakenett · 14/05/2021 19:01

@WouldBeGood

Says a person who presumable wasn't working in a school.

Shutting the schools was not a mistake. It ripped through our school through Oct - Dec and has left at least two young people with some sort of chronic post viral issue. Fatigue, hair loss, anxiety, breathlessness, weight loss. In very healthy 16 year olds. I can assure you that they and their parents would have given anything for the schools to have been shut.

forfucksakenett · 14/05/2021 19:02

Presumably

WouldBeGood · 14/05/2021 19:02

🙄

charliebrown59 · 14/05/2021 19:02

Let's hope this is a little bump on the general upward trend...

WouldBeGood · 14/05/2021 19:03

We are never getting freed @charliebrown59 🤷🏻‍♀️

charliebrown59 · 14/05/2021 19:05

Ah don't say that, we are so close! Grin

latissimusdorsi · 14/05/2021 19:08

Hopefully once all adults vaccinated SG will stop counting cases and only count hospitalisations

latissimusdorsi · 14/05/2021 19:10

Hang in there Moray and Glasgow, we're all rooting for you

Pootle40 · 14/05/2021 19:18

@WouldBeGood

Completely agree
WouldBeGood · 14/05/2021 19:28

No, @latissimusdorsi.

They’ve told us that about overwhelming the NHS; Easter; Christmas; Easter; vaccinating the over 80s/70s/60s/50s/40s

No freedom

forfucksakenett · 14/05/2021 19:38

No you're right @WouldBeGood that's you forever. And ever and ever.

WouldBeGood · 14/05/2021 19:43

Yep. 14 months and going strong @forfucksakenett

With not a whiff of evidence for this.

Fuckwits

ResilienceWanker · 14/05/2021 19:48

@ssd

I think what makes it worse is people had a real sense of hope.
Agree! Glasgow in particular there was no suggestion that they wouldn't move to tier 2. Then all of a sudden, 2 days before, they are told they can't. After all the pubs/ cinemas/ gyms etc ordered in their staff/ drinks, presumably. It is just cruel. They've had a really steep rise in cases since the beginning of May, even though it's only recently popped over the 50 ppht threshold, so why it wasn't mentioned as a possibility is beyond me. Maybe they thought there wasn't a possibility of overwhelming local NHS capacity so it'd be fine, but just panicked at the last minute? Understandable, but not really the way to run a country. Either they are concerned about steep rises in case numbers, or they aren't.
forfucksakenett · 14/05/2021 19:49

Yeah you're right again. No evidence of a dangerous virus with new variants that they don't fully understand.

StarryEyeSurprise · 14/05/2021 19:53

Witty and SAGE - Chb4 news. Even with current vaccine levels, if Boris goes ahead as planned on Monday ( and doesn't put in place local lockdowns) possibility of surge and hospitalisations equal to or higher than January. Here we go again.

They were warned re international travel. Half of London cases are the new variant. It's just all so predictable, it's not even funny.

StarryEyeSurprise · 14/05/2021 19:57

Did anyone else watch it? It was this Monday the modelling referred to and not June?

WouldBeGood · 14/05/2021 19:58

@forfucksakenett

Yeah you're right again. No evidence of a dangerous virus with new variants that they don't fully understand.
This is bollocks.
WouldBeGood · 14/05/2021 19:58

Cases are not resulting in hospitalisation.

forfucksakenett · 14/05/2021 20:00

@WouldBeGood articulate as ever! So says you.

Meanwhile in the real world CMO and CSA say otherwise.

It's hard to know who to believe. Random person on MN? Chief Medical Officer? 🤔

forfucksakenett · 14/05/2021 20:01

Let me fix that for you @WouldBeGood

Cases are not currently resulting in hospitalisation.

Scottishskifun · 14/05/2021 20:04

I think they need a new strategy and it needs to be a long term strategy this isn't going away neither is variants or transmission. Vaccination is brilliant but it needs to speed up how many times has it been said the letter system here doesn't work, is slow etc.

Lockdowns are failing, economy gets worse and people are so fatigued by it all and after 14 months it's no wonder (the govt initially thought people wouldn't last past 12 weeks remember!)

They need to jump on pockets with mass testing quickly not this we will watch the numbers then go oh crap it's too late by this point.
Our tracing capacity isn't good enough either it's way too slow!

SG need to go back to the drawing board pragmatically rather then trying to make what they decided months ago fit and work when it clearly doesn't and didn't factor in a vaccine or hospital rates.

ssd · 14/05/2021 20:06

@StarryEyeSurprise

I watched it,

Opening up now in certain areas is madness
