50% of the whole population, which is 60.2% of the adult population in Scotland, has received at least their first vaccination. 15.8% of the adult population has had both.
I feel like I'm stalking my postie, waiting for my blue envelope.

Haudyourwheesht · 17/04/2021 21:42

Thanks @dancemom. These are such positive figures. It looks like the asymptomatic testing units may be working.

Icannever · 18/04/2021 14:02

Thanks for the numbers @dancemom, hopefully the next couple of days will be even better.

Had a nice a day out of the council area yesterday to visit in-laws but was sooo exhausted after having to make small talk all afternoon 😬

dancemom · 18/04/2021 15:46

• 211 new cases of COVID-19 reported
• 15,097 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results – 1.6% of these were positive
• 0 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive. (Noting that Register Offices are now generally closed at weekends)
• 2,744,231 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 738,420 have received their second dose

I'm a bit confused about the roadmap document now on the government website.

I consulted it to check what date inside visits are allowed so I can tell DM and DF when they can come, but now some of the stuff is out of date, so it doesn't reflect the latest change about 6 people from 6 households being outside.

I would have expected them to update it with current situation so we'd have a more accurate picture of things, particularly as the numbers are getting pleasingly low.

Anyone else worried about the UK government traffic light system for travel ? I would love to go abroad as much as anyone else, but I just feel when not everything is open yet, maybe some caution this time round would be good, particularly as in Scotland we'll suffer any impact from it and potentially not get the benefits of being able to go.

Cismyfatarse · 18/04/2021 17:38

Ages since I posted but still so glad of this thread.

I am trying to make sense of what restrictions will be lifted when.

"Life events" are up to 100 in June. What are "life events"? I get weddings, funerals etc but what about milestone birthdays? DS will be 21 and we want to have 20-25 people in the garden in early July. Thoughts? It will be fairly casual but is it allowed as a "life event" or not? Or do they have to be in venues and not at home? We are a bit suburban to just get away with it.

Scottishskifun · 18/04/2021 17:45

I'm sure people from Scotland will book holidays leaving from Manchester!

The holiday one is difficult the industry has suffered do much but also its not just about going to a Spanish beach.
Thousands of families are separated and we all know the effect that has on people. Banning it just means lots of people missing their loved ones.

The reality of it currently is that it's too expensive for most people to even go with the extra tests and quarantine time as it's longer off work.

Cismyfatarse · 18/04/2021 17:48

We are thinking Newcastle.....

LizzieMacQueen · 18/04/2021 18:08

@rookiemere

If you click into level 4 it shows this.

I don't think the coloured levels poster is correct any more.

Tieriffic or tierifying ... who knows!
rookiemere · 18/04/2021 18:13

Thanks @LizzieMacQueen
Apparently another announcement on Tuesday, whats our bets on what she'll bring forward- if anything?

dancemom · 18/04/2021 18:18

That's interesting @rookiemere but my scepticism makes me think it will just be a reminder that although England is opening up for foreign travel under the traffic light system Scotland is not 🙄

ResilienceWanker · 18/04/2021 18:22

Yeah - the levels poster (if you download it today, at least) has the 6 people /6 households allowance under tier 3, but in teeny tiny writing underneath it says it applies from the 16th April. It's all very, very messy at the moment. So the website says if you're in tier 4 or 3 you can't leave your own council area apart from the "permitted reasons" but the poster says in tier 3 travel around Scotland is permitted (as long as you're going to another tier 3 area, which you will be because everywhere will be tier 3). And they both say actually you can travel outside your council area for meeting people, for recreation or for exercise, which is basically anything you can do at the moment anyway! I don't think anyone making the rules is actually talking to anyone updating the website any more.

ResilienceWanker · 18/04/2021 18:24

Tuesdays announcement is to confirm what will be allowed from the 26th, I think. I think They said last week that would be announced on the 20th, which is Tuesday.

rookiemere · 18/04/2021 18:27

It just frustrates me @ResilienceWanker . If I'm making the effort to read up and figure what is allowed, then it would be good if all the publications tied up.
I hope on Tuesday they might let us drink alcohol inside. I've booked outdoor seating at our local on the first Thursday night possible as that's when they run their £30 special of two rump steaks and a bottle of fairly pleasant wine. I'd much rather be inside so fingers crossed.

ResilienceWanker · 18/04/2021 18:42

I totally know what you mean rookiemere! Though to be fair, you've always had to have a PhD in website navigation to even find the right stuff on the SG website, so the fact two pages don't say the same things as each other is the least of their problems.

I'm also hoping for a recalibration of the tiers, and when we could expect going beyond tier zero on Tuesday. DS was nattering away at the bus stop this morning about the tiers, and asked when various things would be allowed (not wearing masks on buses was BIG for him) and I said that was still needed at tier 0. And even he realised that tier zero needed basically no covid, so how could we ever get lower than that?! And he's 9.

The booze inside would be fab, but I'm not sure that'll happen until May, tbh, given NSs famed hatred of booze. The longer opening hours compared to last time are something, I suppose.

UnderHisAye · 18/04/2021 19:10

I feel like things hit a new low today.

DD needed crafty stuff from The Range, and while she was looking for what she wanted I found myself browsing the clothes.

I've been deprived of shopping for too long, clearly BlushGrin

WouldBeGood · 18/04/2021 19:22

I’m totally defeated and can’t be arsed. Not going out anywhere until they lift these fucking rules.

dancemom · 18/04/2021 20:10

Perihelion · 18/04/2021 20:35

I think foreign travel isn't a good idea till at least the whole adult population is fully vaccinated. The current worldwide infection rate looks the opposite of under control. I would love to go and see my relatives, a 12 hour flight away, but realistically know that's not going to happen for at least another year...

WouldBeGood · 18/04/2021 20:36

We can’t be locked in with no travel for another year!!! Life’s too short. The vaccines work. Back to normal ASAP.

WouldBeGood · 18/04/2021 20:36

I’ll take that to railing lest there be upset here.

dancemom · 19/04/2021 14:01
