@Bytheloch I posted about that a few posts ago but it was only on This Morning. Glad you've confirmed it Smile

Lockdownbear · 26/02/2021 16:52

I hope she backtracks too.
At the moment I'm looking to try an book first 2 weeks in July - somewhere in UK.

At the moment I'm think England will have more stuff open, but DH fancied Wales but I'm not even convinced that they'll be as open as England.
Sad but true, people shouldn't be having to take into account the Covid status of bits of the UK for summer.

Coquohvan · 26/02/2021 18:35

@Dinnafashyersel

Just had to google French Health Minister. My DH is only half French but has a built in year round tan.
So does my DH 50% Italian. Not jealous at all.
Dinnafashyersel · 26/02/2021 19:01

Grin Wine Here's to good looking lovers to while away the endless lockdown with.

Mine is very easy on the eye but I have been known to refer to him in much less flattering terms - prone to Gallic shrugging and Macron levels of arrogance. Choosing to overlook all that cos otherwise I'm jealous of everyone else who gets more than 5 minutes peace without DH and DC under foot. Wine

Scottishskifun · 26/02/2021 19:16

I think the only way they will backtrack on elimination strategy is when numbers still don't get low enough (because its pretty impossible to do and mass testing will constantly bring up numbers) and then it will no doubt be Englands fault for not aiming for the same thing and therefore they can't achieve it........

Nothing to do with the fact that its pretty unachievable 1 year in, with essential cross movement and that ship sailed last year!

Dinnafashyersel · 26/02/2021 19:34

Interesting. Mark Wallace noting that CCHQ think restrictions in England will ease enough to allow normalish campaigning for the May Local Elections. The optics of that would be terrible if the SG keeps us more restricted while running the Holyrood Election in the current political atmosphere.

The Dentist's comments pooh poohing Prof Woolhouse sounded deluded and arrogant beyond belief.

Dinnafashyersel · 26/02/2021 19:44

Now confirmed. Doorstep (socially distanced) campaigning allowed in England from 8 March.

OldRailer · 26/02/2021 19:44

I've decided not take notice of Leitch.

Coquohvan · 26/02/2021 19:47

Do we know when vaccine supplies are back up to speed?

Oh @Dinnafashyersel nice, mines a bit of Rob Lowe going on.

Dinnafashyersel · 26/02/2021 19:55

Vaccine supplies must be good to go. Just announced they are moving the target date for ALL adults forward to End May (was end July).

fluffyugg · 26/02/2021 20:01

@Dinnafashyersel really? That's amazing, where did you see that?

shouldistop · 26/02/2021 20:02

@Dinnafashyersel is that in Scotland??

OldRailer · 26/02/2021 20:03

That's such great news about the vaccines!

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/02/2021 20:04

I wonder how they'll deal with students who may be away at Uni or at home at the time they get called? Possibly on electoral register in both locations. They also might be away for first and home for 2nd or vice versa.

Dinnafashyersel · 26/02/2021 20:06

Hugo Gye on the Ipaper - he's generally pretty reliable with his scoops.

Dinnafashyersel · 26/02/2021 20:07

Oh and yes UK wide so includes Scotland.

Dinnafashyersel · 26/02/2021 20:09

Wax I was assuming they would be moving to on-line booking once eligible like they're doing in England already - don't know though.

Lockdownbear · 26/02/2021 20:14

Dinnafash that's amazing end of May. I'm stunned. I though end of July was great.
Please let that be right. I could cry with relief.
End of May OMG. I'm ready to cry.

OldRailer · 26/02/2021 20:25

I heard a bit if Johnathan Van Tam on the radio tonight saying don't think about where you are in the queue rather think of yourself as in a queue which is moving really fast!

Very reassuring too.

OldRailer · 26/02/2021 20:26

I'm certainly hearing of lots of different people being jabbed all around.

Glad to hear Fife is going better now too!

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/02/2021 20:36

That would definitely makes sense as they get into the working population also. Whilst the part of my company and my own job would allow me to go to whatever I am allocated. It's difficult for staff for example in a contact centre to just be given a random appointment and then try to get the time off to go. It's not fair really but you can understand that it might be easier to plan the phones if staff have appointments near the beginning or end of shifts or at quieter times. Same goes for lots of jobs or even if it's parents who need to pick up DC etc. Students would probably be happier with afternoon or evening appointments so they didn't have to get out of bed before lunch :o
GirlLovesWorld · 26/02/2021 20:55

That vaccine news would be amazing, hope it's right!

I checked the calculator today and was gutted to see my first dose date was back to July-August. Would be brilliant for it to be April!

ProvisionallyAnxious · 27/02/2021 03:55

Does anyone here have any experience of what they'll do for, pregnant people who can't have the vaccine when offered it but want to have it as soon as an possible after giving birth? I have this worry about being put down as "declining" the vaccine when I do come to be offered it. Obviously other than vulnerable folk they haven't hit the age group this is most likely to affect yet...

Saw something in one of the papers about vaccine passports to visit pubs which made me 😬

hilbil21 · 27/02/2021 07:52

@ProvisionallyAnxious My friend got called yesterday as she has an underlying health condition and was offered her vaccination for Friday. She's going into hospital on Monday to be induced so they've told her to phone once she's home and settled, and they've currently got her on the system as "delayed".

Dinnafashyersel · 27/02/2021 09:08

Provisionally the invite letter has loads of options on how to rearrange appointments. There are also lots of sweep up initiatives already in train. Bear in mind that the Govt wants maximum uptake and now looks like they have plenty supply. News last night reporting UK now under pressure from Int'l community as it has approaching 4 times as much vaccine as it needs for its population (and that's only the already pre-agreed orders). AZ has short term factory logistics to sort but this is now done. Telegraph today reporting they may move to single shot only for people who have already had Covid - that would cover a lot of NHS workers who have had one shot of Pfizer (Israel haven't vaxxed anyone who has had Covid previously at all as part of their trial protocol agreement with Pfizer).
