One for any remaining Zero Devi fans. Auckland back into lockdown for another week - iirc the last precautionary week was less than a month ago. Auckland has a population similar to Greater Glasgow and looks to be in a similar cycle of Level 4+.

rookiemere · 27/02/2021 09:28

@Dinnafashyersel my aunt is near Auckland. She's retired and lives outside the centre and has a lovely garden, so short term lockdowns don't impact her too much. But I do wonder how the likes of restaurants and shops can survive as presumably no government support for short term closures- or maybe there is. I must ask her.

Direwolfwrangler · 27/02/2021 09:30

Is there any clear guidance about whether pregnant women can have the vaccine? I asked my midwife at my booking appointment but she said they weren’t involved at all.

WouldBeGood · 27/02/2021 09:31

It’s a bad sign for Leitch that my DD19 who knows nothing at all about politics knows who he is and says he’s a dick.

kurtrussellsbeard · 27/02/2021 09:40

I think it's a really hard time to be pregnant. I wouldn't want to be making these decisions. All pregnant people, especially those who don't have very understanding workplaces, have my sympathies!

They are only allowing for pregnant women in the UK if high risk and exposure so a nurse which has bad asthma for instance.

They don't have the data at the moment as they don't test on pregnant women (no issues identified in lab trials on animals) and the UK takes a precautionary approach. The US doesn't so there should be more data soon.

pawsbaws · 27/02/2021 09:47

@Dinnafashyersel

Vaccine supplies must be good to go. Just announced they are moving the target date for ALL adults forward to End May (was end July).
Absolutely no chance at the current rates, they’ll need to treble very soon to achieve this.
kurtrussellsbeard · 27/02/2021 09:54

@pawsbaws I think they could manage that. Maybe that's just my hope and optimism and lockdown fatigue making me a bit deluded though.

Yip and that's without loads of people coming and going daily. Eliminating covid will never work. Vaccine is the only way out.
Scottishskifun · 27/02/2021 10:04

The moderna supplies are due to be delivered soon to the UK that's probably why they have revised it.

WouldBeGood · 27/02/2021 10:09

Apparently the local vaccination centre was busy and running like clockwork yesterday. Super efficient.

GirlLovesWorld · 27/02/2021 10:20

Oh yes Moderna was 'spring' wasn't it?

Dinnafashyersel · 27/02/2021 10:57

rookie that would be interesting to know. My friends are in Christchurch so generally more pre-occupied with earthquakes than Covid. Their lifestyle is generally more akin to crofting in the Highlands than Glasgow though.

MrsAmaretto · 27/02/2021 11:05

@Scottishskifun well they’d better get us the educational material on it soon, otherwise we’ll have the vaccine but won’t be covered to administer it. When we’ve asked about the Moderna, we’re just told we’ve not heard anything yet. I imagine like everything else we’ll read about it in the news/social media before we get anything through “official” channels. And that includes changing timescales etc.

Dinnafashyersel · 27/02/2021 11:10

Must be unbelievably frustrating to be on the inside with no info MrsAmaretto. I get that they are "moving at pace" and responding to "emerging evidence" but I don't think that excuses running roughshod over the staff at work on the ground.

GirlLovesWorld · 27/02/2021 11:10

I want to know what's happening with j&j too. Looks like it's being approved for emergency use in the US.

Direwolfwrangler · 27/02/2021 11:17

Thanks @Scottishskifun I am low risk, WFH full time so I assume I’ll be getting mine much later in the year.

Tomorrowisanewday · 27/02/2021 11:49

I had my first vaccination this morning at the local hospital treatment centre. Very well organised, very efficient, and the vaccinators answered the questions I asked.

Sorry didn't realise the Royal obstetricians had released something til another PP in a different thread - it's available if high risk medical condition or high risk job. But yes you wouldn't be in those catalogories. Vaccination will also be for many years to come so it's not a one chance missed type of thing either

dancemom · 27/02/2021 14:51

• 525 new cases of COVID-19 reported
• 19,615 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results – 3.1% of these were positive
• 18 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
• 74 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19 (down 6)
• 898 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19 (down 26)

Coquohvan · 27/02/2021 18:48

Thank you @dancemom, another downwards day for general hospital admissions.
Seems we’re slipping down a tad with the vaccines. We were slightly above England recently, perhaps supplies?

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/02/2021 18:59

I think vaccine wise they have all been with a % or 2 for a while which I think is fine, some will be starting getting on to 2nd vaccines as well.

I think as long as it all trots along fairly evenly then I'm comfortable that it's not the same as when things started and everyone else was pulling further and further away. They said there would a slowing down due to vaccine supply and that seems to be across the board.

RaspberryCoulis · 27/02/2021 19:10

Well I had an AMAZING day today.

Covid test yesterday. Negative. Working all day today, bit of mask wearing, bit of social distancing and a bit of hand sanitising but most of it was lovely and NORMAL and I got to chat to people who I am not married to and who I did not give birth to. It was lovely and sunny and I had a great time.

Roll on more days like that in the near future.

Lidlfix · 27/02/2021 19:17

Is Raspberry going to be Scotsnet's celeb poster? Sounds great. Very jealous I really enjoy teaching media and would be fascinated .

RaspberryCoulis · 27/02/2021 19:22

Honestly, even going for the Covid test yesterday was a break from the routine. Just nice being somewhere different and seeing different people. It's something we haven't been able to do for so long.
