dancemom my ds is S4 too and his biology teacher hinted on a teams call yesterday that they maybe looking at face to face teaching once a fortnight! I hope it's more as he really hates the online learning and learns better face to face.

anon444877 · 02/03/2021 13:26

Fingers crossed for all of the children - it's nerve wearing, these hints, announcements that are subject to confirmation, then what your local council or HT is actually doing to do - this game has been being played a long time now.

dancemom · 02/03/2021 13:27

@RoseDog my dd is in this week, half a day for music practical and half a day for language speaking so I'm delighted she's got that 2 half days a fortnight

GirlLovesWorld · 02/03/2021 13:29

"So Brazilian variant - school now linked to this in Scotland."

Where did you see this @StarryEyeSurprise ?

OldRailer · 02/03/2021 13:32

It's no point as a member of the general public getting wound up following the supression of every variant. It's a long haul and there will be variants. Some will be occuring in Scotland as we speak.

rookiemere · 02/03/2021 13:34

Thanks @WaxOnFeckOff I hope DS will be ok, but it feels like he's part of a ghastly social experiment that we didn't consent to be part of.

Anyway I'll move to the new thread and wait for any crumbs of information from this afternoon.

MaxNormal · 02/03/2021 14:53

Sorry, why are people getting wound up about the Brazillian varient vis-a-vis the border quarantine issue when the cases were from travellers that came in before there was any quarantine at all?
I noticed everyone's fave Devi making that same point - either she knows fine well when they arrived in the country and is being political, or she's a bit daft.

OldRailer · 02/03/2021 14:54

She's very highly qualified.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 02/03/2021 14:59

I wouldn't worth about your child's biology teacher @dancemom - teachers know nothing more than anyone else so can't possibly have the insider knowledge necessary to make a statement like that.

Cismyfatarse · 02/03/2021 15:26

I don't understand what was just announced for secondary.

No clue. Is it all part time and some full time. Or all part time. How is it to be organised? How will it allow for different school premises etc?

It was about as much use as an announcement as a chocolate tea pot.

Do you think she just did a smell and ran away to prepare for tomorrow? Are we getting more detail?

What?

Agh!!

Lockdownbear · 02/03/2021 15:37

I think it probably means S1-3 full days but not full weeks for the weeks before Easter. It's too difficult to organise school transport for half days.

Who knows how teachers are meant to manage. But the important thing for kids is they see school and friends and have a snippet of normal before being ready to really work in the summer term.

How did the high schools do the first week back in August?

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 02/03/2021 15:51

Our plan for august until it was scrapped was to have all kids in half day, every day. Can't remember the salient details now.

Lockdownbear · 02/03/2021 16:16

I know my sons Primary did something like
Wed, just the P1
Thurs, P4,5,6,7
Fri, P1,2,3

So they all go a bit of time back, see the one way systems etc prior to being full time on the Monday.

Cismyfatarse · 02/03/2021 17:04

Do we have a title for the new thread.

Tiers before school time?

@StarryEyeSurprise

Just jumping on on my break.

So Brazilian variant - school now linked to this in Scotland. They're tracking contacts of contacts.

Anyone else p*ssed that this has happened because the UK Gov refused to quarantine all travellers from abroad as the SG and NI Governments wanted?

Do you have a link to the Brazilian variant being in a Scottish School?
Coquohvan · 03/03/2021 23:02

@GirlLovesWorld

"So Brazilian variant - school now linked to this in Scotland."

Where did you see this @StarryEyeSurprise ?

Starry posted - it came directly from a teacher working in the school
Scottishskifun · 04/03/2021 09:19

I think it was a bit of misleading statement made initially by Starry.

They are full backward tracing so also speaking to contacts of contacts. It's reasonable to anticipate that some of these will be families and have children or be a teacher. So yes someone or several maybe connected to a school but this isn't the same as the Brazilian variant is in a school. Which although not directly stated was implied.

They don't usually go this far back with tracing. As I said on another thread they are doing full genome tests on Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire test results and it's been over a month since the flight.

It's gold coated precautionary.
Scare monger statements aren't helpful though!

I also replied here rather then derail the new thread!

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/03/2021 10:23

The "dump in a statement of fact with no evidence" is a particular modus operandi. The fact invariably turns out to be wrong or misleading but hey ho. Think it's lesson 1 at the SNP college.

OldRailer · 04/03/2021 10:29

I think so.
