I’m an ASN teacher and have working non stop everyday in school since January leaving my 4DC at home with their father who has been WFH since last March. Our 16 and 15yo are sitting Highers and N5s, our poor 16yo already having her N5s decided by teachers and having to appeal against them is now mega stressing about her Higher and getting into uni. Our S1 probably won’t be back in school until the middle of April. Our P6 needs a lot of support, I can’t even help him when I get home as he’s got to upload a piece of work before 1pm as the school as to count engagement!
Five of them on devices luckily we can afford to upgrade the WiFi but it still has its moments. Like everyone else we are utterly fed up of it all now, want to go shopping, want a bloody day at the seaside.

And oh middle class moment here - paying our cleaner for another two months for not working (happy to do so but o know not all her clients are, so that's another two months of v little income for her)

RaspberryCoulis · 23/02/2021 16:15

So down. So the Easter holidays are going to be a rerun of Christmas, and Feb half term, where our kids will have precisely nothing to do except meet ups in fields and/or the play park.

It's certainly back to basics!

And last Easter, last May half term, a good part of last summer, september weekend and october week too.

We've had nothing to do since mid-March 2020.

Unless of course you're a politician, in which case you've been going to work, seeing colleagues and living an entirely normal life throghout.

@ Bonnieweejeaniemcall This thread has mixed views. And are usually plenty of challengers to complainers against the Scottish Government. They are just taking a well deserved break I think for a wee tea break.
There is a "railing" thread set up on Scotsnet for just moaning though !

My cleaner is still coming. Essential maintenance on the house is allowed. And when both adults in the house are working at home, I'm studying for a Masters and trying to educate three children, having a cleaner is pretty fucking essential.

And yes, she's had a lot of people tell her not to come until the advice changes, she's down quite a lot of money since Christmas.

fluffyugg · 23/02/2021 16:17

The framework says returning to 'at least level 3 with some adjustments' at least level 3, in 2 months time...this is what I cannot get my head round at all Shock

@Bonnieweejeaniemccall the railing thread is like a spa day in comparison to this oneGrin
WouldBeGood · 23/02/2021 16:18

I would think even the faithful are fucked off with this!

speedtalker · 23/02/2021 16:18

@RaspberryCoulis

How on EARTH can she say schools return from 5th April when it's te first day of the holidays? That's a barefaced lie.

Brass neck on her.

She said the p1-p3s were going in from after half term, which was widely reported, when for the vast majority of scotland it meant another week of homeschooling after half term. But it was reported as she said it. This will likely be reported as she said it. We are let down by the media.
anon444877 · 23/02/2021 16:19

what's that fluffy, a level 3 with some added bits of 4 as a nice surprise?

raspberrycoulis it's desperate isn't it?

tabulahrasa · 23/02/2021 16:21

@puppychaos

Is everywhere going into Level 3 at the end of April? We're in Aberdeenshire and I'm a bit confused (isn't everyone!).
I read it as level 3 for most areas on the 26th of April... moving to level 2 on the 17th of may and then moving to weekly instead of 3 weekly reviews so potentially level 0 by June... and presumably no restrictions at all after that.
Bonnieweejeaniemccall · 23/02/2021 16:21

Found it thanks! I'll go make a cup of tea and enjoy...

oakleaffy · 23/02/2021 16:22

Had a young self employed person really go off on a rant over phone about how so many businesses &c have gone to shit just to save a few “
Old people “ ( quote)
I tried explaining it was so NHS wasn’t overwhelmed, but they were still fuming about olds who have had their lives while young people are really suffering with school and businesses, especially self employed.

I do get why young people are angry, but what makes me more upset is those of all ages who have other health conditions ignored because of bloody Covid.

anon444877 · 23/02/2021 16:23

level 2 is supposed to allow international travel @tabulahrasa so that doesn't fit with what Nicola said about no international travel this summer.

DieSchottin93 · 23/02/2021 16:23

Oh great so I'm stuck at home til at least the end of April, having last been at work on Christmas Day, and then she'll put us back into tier 3? I work in a hotel so we might as well stay shut a bit longer unless she at least makes the dining curfew longer than bloody 6pm. The end of April seems so far away just now Sad

MintPI · 23/02/2021 16:24

@anon444877

Since when does anything ever fit with what she's said one minute to the next.
MaxNormal · 23/02/2021 16:25

@anon444877 yeah she'll have to tweak that one as the document I saw makes it clear they are planning on maintaining their stupid pointless special Scotland-only quarantine. So they'll need to come up with a plan to stop people just flying from Manchester.

tabulahrasa · 23/02/2021 16:28

I didn’t watch her tbh... so I’ll have missed any additions like that.

I’m pretty sure it won’t be as quick as that, just saying everything I’m reading give the impression of - not dissimilar to England’s plan overall...just different dates.

Bytheloch · 23/02/2021 16:29

The levels are to be reviewed, so not the same criteria as the 2020 set. We do know that level 3 allows us to visit a polling station, but whether we can bring a picnic with us remains to be seen...

Scottishskifun · 23/02/2021 16:30

@puppychaos yep everywhere mainland regardless of current levels still falling and 2% test positive rate for the NE of Scotland at the moment

MaxNormal · 23/02/2021 16:33

We do know that level 3 allows us to visit a polling station

"You may visit a polling station, but only to vote SNP. Votes for Labour or Conservative are not considered valid reasons for travel outside the home."

applesandpears33 · 23/02/2021 16:37

I feel utterly deflated. Three DC who are desperate to get back to school and one of them has no idea how or when the highers will be assessed, just that it isn't exams (although it sounds as though it'll be SQA provided assessments that are very similar to exams). Everything is just so up in the air for them. At least on a day like today working from home doesn't seem quite so bad when there is a storm outside.

RaspberryCoulis · 23/02/2021 16:39

I think you can pretty much throw the last, pre-Christmas tiers out the window.

There will be new rules, none of which will make sense. All designed to tell us we have freedom, but not actually giving us any freedom.

So glad we booked England for the beginning of July, it will be normal down there by then and I will be so glad to escape.

Bytheloch · 23/02/2021 16:39

Max Peak Black Mirror

RaspberryCoulis · 23/02/2021 16:41

You know what, if people are unhappy with this shite then I don't care who they vote for. Every "not SNP" vote will count. Vote Labour, Conservative, UKIP (are they still around?) or even fucking Communist for all I care.

Just don't vote for this shower of idiots.
