New Thread, same old situation....

I am about to be a bitch here but I fucking hate her today.

On the one hand I'm pleased that my P4 will be looking to finally be getting back on the 15th March.

But on the other I'm feeling a bit like what's the point? Vaccines reduce hospitalisations in a ridiculously high proportion of those who have had them, but that's still not good enough? In April we can hope for Tier 3?! It feels like we're never going to be free of some sort of local restrictions.

If we are going to be in this shitshow until the end of April why are we having an election (which will require schools to close for how many days to clean/ vote/ clean?) at the start of May?!
I swing between despair and fury. WHY can we not just come out of this as 4 nations together instead of all this point scoring shit?!

@jerometheturnipking I have a P4 too but I still feel like she hasn't committed to the 15th March, that's just the earliest possible date. I can't let myself look forward to it.

Do you think this viscereal hate for her will translate into votes lost? I am never voting SNP again, even if it's to get a Tory out, although I don't know how many will think like me.

I'd love to see her lose seats though. If she wins in May she will just crack down again after that, seeing it as an endorsement of her zero Covid policy.

Are swimming pools open in level 3? Weave been in lockdown for so long I've lost track

@MintPI they were open in tier 3 before. Am desperate for my pool to reopen. It’s an outdoor pool and I’m hoping they could get some sort of outdoor changing thing going but not optimistic ☹️

My neighbourhood has had 0 cases for the last couple of weeks. LA overall is 80/100K, or Level 2 in old money, i think. Maybe level 3 at a push.

Suppose my LA keeps dropping, suppose all LAs keep dropping, and we all get down to old Level 2 rates - what then? Will we still be locked up??

I was broadly supportive most of the time, compliant-through-gritted-teeth for the greater good etc. I really thought the SG approach was better on the whole than the BG one, much as I hate it. Now I'm just livid. Can't imagine how parents of children are feeling!! Rates are lower in most LAs in Scotland than in most LAs in England. This is bonkers.

It seems the only way to get Glasgow out of level 3/4 is to vote for someone else in the election.

No plans to cancel my Easter trip to England to visit family, my s/c booking has not been cancelled by the owner there either. Scottish s/c businesses will not be able to accept any bookings for Easter.
She got away with not addressing the cross-border (unicorn border) holiday issue by retaining the level 4 status until end of April just before the election.
Which also means you’re not meant to travel to see family even within Scotland over that period.

I think it is right to be cautious to a point but there was absolutely no sign of hope there today...wait another 2 months and you will be in level 3...just awful for so many individuals and businesses. In fact, awful for everyone 😕

@onlythewildones from what I understand we are still going to be in "local authority area" lockdown in scotland until the end of April whereas Englandshire are off on their holidays in self-catering properties and allowed to meet any number of people from 2 households outdoors.

Actually if England is opening up and no longer restricting travel they won't be bothered about who crosses the border, come spend your money

I had been naively hoping that there might be some news on outdoor visiting of family who live in other local authorities. We are working from home, our children are at home, we rarely go out except for exercise as a family, so the risk would seem to be much lower now than it will be when children go back to school. Haven't seen grandparents since November and the situation is now affecting their health.

I'd love to know how much COVID is spread in and around the Parliament. How is it that it's safe for MSPs to travel to Edinburgh, (thinking about security staff, catering staff, journalists, advisers) but we're not to leave the house and parents are being told not to mix with other parents at the school gates? How many people does Nicola come into contact with on a daily basis?

Am I right in thinking that at the end of this cul-de-sac of a roadmap, we'll likely still be in tiers of three (enhanced), which means we can't leave our local authority still?

So allowing more people to meet up is irrelevant if the family you're desperate to see live in another local authority.
