@frasersmummy

Ruth Davidson is right she's given us no hope.. I am still not supposed to see family and friends till when?? End of april My s4 is goung to be assessed for national 5s having been out of school from mid Dec to mid April.. Though he might get part time return I cant go back to my job till god knows when (nothing about offices) And I can't even drive out my local area without a proper reason

She says she is going for as close to zero as she can get.. She needs to get a grip

'Not before' 15th March for meeting others outside.
TeenTraumaTrials · 23/02/2021 14:54

4 people from 2 households really does nothing for many families - so DH and I could meet my parents, but my DCs couldn't join us, or I could take DCs to meet 1 GP or one DC to meet both GPs. But we can't as a family meet my parents for another 2 months, even outside which UK advisors have clearly said is very very low risk, and the research published yesterday clearly says the first dose of vaccine provides huge protection. It's so risk adverse it's just odd.

And the answer to Jackie Baillie about needing to suppress as close to elimination as possible - did anyone else notice she nearly said zero??

It's not even correct. Early learning and childcare and schools for p1-3 - except childcare is not open. Childcare for under 5s is. There is no school age childcare unless you are a keyworker and it's been missed again
Malteser71 · 23/02/2021 14:57

It’s completely political. She’s despicable.

Agree with this 100%
StatisticallyChallenged · 23/02/2021 14:58

@readsalotgirl63

Sorry realise the thread has moved along but I wanted to say how much I agreed with *@StatisticallyChallenged and @Jellycatspyjamas* posts regarding the poverty related inequality. I also think SG have really not been held to account over the appalling state of education in Scotland
Thanks @readsalotgirl63. There is so much that SG could do to reduce poverty and they have many levers they could pull.
Scottishskifun · 23/02/2021 15:01

I'm actually dumbfounded I didn't think she would go close to England but I did expect more than this..... Maybe get to level 3 in 2 months..... Wtaf my area is 30/100,000!

Wow just wow!
How is this going to ensure people continuing to help reduce transmission people will go whats the point feck it!

OldRailer · 23/02/2021 15:01

Nearly zero? Did NS say that?

Scottishskifun · 23/02/2021 15:03

@OldRailer

Nearly zero? Did NS say that?
Yep! Full on sticking with her elimination strategy
celtiethree · 23/02/2021 15:03

Can those saying that its full time for pupils in school from April 5th (even though they are on holiday!). Where do you see this? The document states "we are planning for the ongoing reopening of schools to all children and young people". I don't think it will be full time but some kind of blended learning with actually very limited time in school for the s1-s3 years - just because they don't have exams! It's awful for this age group (not saying that it's easy for other age groups but this age is just ignored).

TeenTraumaTrials · 23/02/2021 15:04

@OldRailer

Nearly zero? Did NS say that?
No she didn't say 'nearly zero' when answering Jackie Baillie she said something like 'as near to z ....elimination' . As in she 'nearly said' zero
Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/02/2021 15:05

Actually greeting here. I know this is selfish, but I don't have kids in school so really no change that benefits me personally until the end of April. And even then, there's the whole "which tier are you in?" question. We have 30/100,000 here!

blowinahoolie · 23/02/2021 15:05

Bit disappointed with no dates but I suppose she doesn't have a crystal ball 🤷

beepbeeprichie · 23/02/2021 15:05

So at the end of April I still cannot travel to see my in-laws? This is utterly horrendous. Real tears from me today. I feel completely broken.

OldRailer · 23/02/2021 15:05

As a risk averse person I would say this is very risk averse strategy.

WouldBeGood · 23/02/2021 15:06

@Judystilldreamsofhorses I’m trying not to cry as I don’t think I could stop

blowinahoolie · 23/02/2021 15:06

Really missing my family, but really holding on to the positive news of rest of adult population getting their vaccine before end of July. Faster than I thought.

theotherfossilsister · 23/02/2021 15:09

I just feel really dejected.

Last time she made an announcement the neighbour's had a party the night afterwards, and I lay there fuming at them, but then thinking maybe if she'd given a bit more hope they wouldn't have done that.

Did she say anything about takeaway pints resuming? I would quite like pubs to still exist.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 23/02/2021 15:10

But what does that mean? There's no point in being vaccinated if we're all just going to have to sit in our houses.
OldRailer · 23/02/2021 15:11

It's a bit daft.

Belindabelle · 23/02/2021 15:14

Easter is going to be shit then.

I had a wee bit of hope that I would be allowed to go to my second home and see some family and friends but that’s not happening.

I had sort of promised MIL that she could come for a postponed Christmas dinner at Easter. Poor soul said she would love even a bbq if we had to be outside.

Another 2 week school holidays for my S4 son with nothing to do. Just like last Easter, October and Christmas. His 16th birthday is going to be just as crap as his 15th.

Don’t even get me started on his schooling.

Rae36 · 23/02/2021 15:14

I swing between elation that 1 out of 3 will hopefully get back to school and total despair that nothing else is changing.
I think people are going to start breaking the rules all over the place. Who can blame them? I will be, I'm going to see my parents in a couple of weeks for ds's birthday. Its all he wants.

TeenTraumaTrials · 23/02/2021 15:16

So basically at the end of April, if everyone in 1-9 has been vaccinated, and the WHO 6 conditions are met (which includes transmission being under control) then we might get back to regional levels.

Last night Chris Whitty said that they expect cases to rise as they move out of lockdown, but because the link between cases/hospitalisations/death is broken by vaccination, that increased cases isn't such a problem.

Scotland is now taken a completely opposite position re cases to England and I just don't see how that works longer term.

Belindabelle · 23/02/2021 15:17

Well I am breaking the no alcohol on a school night rule in about 15 mins.
