Didn't she say she'd make the next progress statement in three weeks, so we might know more about other school years then? I got distracted by a noisy child right when I wanted to hear the details.

TeenTraumaTrials · 23/02/2021 14:40

Really pleased for those of you with primary-age kids - it must be really hard to have them at home as they need so much more support. B

ut I do think the early secondary years are just forgotten in all of this - in a period of a year they will have spent less than 4 months in school.

MaxNormal · 23/02/2021 14:43

There's no way I'd be sitting in someone's sodding garden in mid-March in Scotland anyway, I have no interest in hypothermia thanks. But at least it'll still be illegal so I'll be spared that
Fucksake. Told us nothing, just if we're good we might be stuck in shitty tiers again at some distant point in the future?

I am happy for all primary parents who are feeling a big easing off of pressure now though.

OldRailer · 23/02/2021 14:43

So gardens end of April?

Flowers to @Rae36, I know this isn't AIBU but you are being totally U! You have nothing to be ashamed of. This has been awful for parents of young kids. It's not natural, the sooner they are back the better.

polarisation · 23/02/2021 14:44

Oh, she's going to continue to treat us like grown ups.

Hmm
WouldBeGood · 23/02/2021 14:44

I really really hate her

OldRailer · 23/02/2021 14:45

MaxNormal I'm the kind of crazy that might just sit in a garden in March.
Who knew I could be a lawbreaking devil with my natural aversion to risk😉?! It's quite exhilarating!

WannaCapybara · 23/02/2021 14:45

BBC has two households mixing 15th March

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-56170916

Last March was roasting @MaxNormal let's cross our fingers for the same again!

Rae36 · 23/02/2021 14:46

From April 5th stay at home order lifted, remainder of pupils to return full time, worship and some limited retail can open

Yay, we can go to church the day after Easter Sunday. Excellent. I wonder if that was deliberate to avoid lots of people going to church? (I get that's not everyone's thing but it's mine and I would love to go to church on Easter Sunday)

Scottishskifun · 23/02/2021 14:46

England announcement has given people something to work towards to really keep going and look what's really close.

Scotland announcement has done the opposite with what's the point when there is no detail. Great for primary schools, rubbish for secondary schools and nothing on spending proper time with friends and family other than back to oh go for a walk the thing we have been doing for months and still no leaving your council areas....... 🙄

anon444877 · 23/02/2021 14:46

So really garden meets and some schooling info that was widely trailed has been announced. Is that a road map? Nothing like what Boris announced, more of a trailer.

conkersarebonkers · 23/02/2021 14:46

For your reading pleasure

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 23/02/2021 14:47

She said she might open churches early for Easter.

MaxNormal · 23/02/2021 14:47

OldRailer I'd sit in a garden in March in Spain aye Grin

OldRailer · 23/02/2021 14:47

The day after Easter Sunday! How droll.

readsalotgirl63 · 23/02/2021 14:48

You can't address poverty related inequality through healthcare and education. Not entirely sure why people think you can.

I disagree - I think education is key to addressing poverty related inequality. All the research reports I've ever read relating to improving literacy levels demonstrate a very clear link between improved literacy and improved life outcomes.

OldRailer · 23/02/2021 14:48

Race you to the departure gate!

Coconut80 · 23/02/2021 14:48

@wouldbegood totally agree with you, lifelong snp supporter but now loathe the woman.
Agree secondary pupils just forgotten my poor S5 daughter stressed out her head not knowing how or when the school will gather the info for the sqa.
I feel so hopeless it's never ending I just can't do it any more mentally

Malteser71 · 23/02/2021 14:49

God, she’s dreadful.

I live in England, I can’t believe this woman.

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/02/2021 14:49

RD is right, it's a holding document.

Bytheloch · 23/02/2021 14:50

@anon444877

Nope, not even garden meetings.
ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 23/02/2021 14:50

Outdoor mixing of 2 households from 15 March is no help when the households are in different LA's.
We're in one LA, friends and family all in other ones, miles away.

readsalotgirl63 · 23/02/2021 14:50

Sorry realise the thread has moved along but I wanted to say how much I agreed with @StatisticallyChallenged and @Jellycatspyjamas posts regarding the poverty related inequality. I also think SG have really not been held to account over the appalling state of education in Scotland

frasersmummy · 23/02/2021 14:51

Ruth Davidson is right she's given us no hope..
I am still not supposed to see family and friends till when?? End of april
My s4 is goung to be assessed for national 5s having been out of school from mid Dec to mid April.. Though he might get part time return
I cant go back to my job till god knows when (nothing about offices)
And I can't even drive out my local area without a proper reason

She says she is going for as close to zero as she can get.. She needs to get a grip

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 23/02/2021 14:52

"As close to zero as possible" is going to a rate well away from zero. Have the scientists not explained this to her?
