@Bytheloch

Pesky bloody English tourists (tbc) spending their Sterling in our Covid-free country.

🙄

I hasten to add I'm an English interloper myself so this isn't an anti-english rant. Just pissed off that I'm dying to see my family down South and can't travel but someone from down South can come up on holiday. The rules are getting very confusing .
Iwillneverbesatisfied · 17/11/2020 13:53

School just called. DD told to self isolate for 14 days. So that, plus tier 4, means I will possibly go nuts. I'm in the vulnerable category so feeling anxious and will watch DD like a hawk for symptoms.

Bikingbear · 17/11/2020 13:56

Dinnafesh where are the other excess deaths coming from?

I'm sure some must be MH related either suicide/alcohol/drugs some possibly other illness not being treated, people being frightened to go near GPs / hospital.

anon444877 · 17/11/2020 13:56

I saw some survey (can't remember where, so highly scientific) that 18 percent of us thought we understood the rules...

Bytheloch · 17/11/2020 13:56

@Galacticat ok fair enough, sorry I totally sympathise and understand that too.

Iwillneverbesatisfied its grim. I know of a kid whose just out of 14days because of school and virtually straight back into because of a friend.Sad

Bikingbear · 17/11/2020 14:07

Galacticat
That's exactly why the travel rules need to be national as in UK.

I know some are happy to forgo Christmas but I really want my Christmas, I want my kids to share their joy and excitement with their Gran who's had a tough couple of years.

Possums4evr · 17/11/2020 14:29

Announcing now

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/11/2020 14:30

Level 2 for east lothian

Level 4 starting at West Lothian

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/11/2020 14:31

Level 4 for 3 weeks initially - intended to be short and sharp, aim to have an impact before Christmas

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/11/2020 14:33

Stirling should have already been on 2 and moved up to 3 so because they got it wrong before that's us fucked.

celtiethree · 17/11/2020 14:34

So mad about Stirling. It’s wrong.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 17/11/2020 14:34

FFS, no change to Helensburgh. everyone will be on the effing train there.

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/11/2020 14:35

Midlothian has also gone to level 2

Level4 - Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board, plus Lanarkshires, East and South Ayrshire, Stirling and West Lothian. Inverclyde has been spared

Travel restrictions: if folk are travelling from T4 to T3 areas we'll have to increase them. The travel restrictions are becoming law.

Justmuddlingalong · 17/11/2020 14:37

Updates for changing tiers.

Schools: aware there are people arguing for closure, our clear view is harm done to young people outweighs benefit from closure. Evidence paper on school safety tomorrow.

Shielding; children who are shielding shouldn't attend school in level 4. Not advising same strict isolation for previous t4 shielders but be particularly vigilant.

Businesses who are required to close/subject to restrictions can get grants

£30m discretionary fund for businesses, some other bits of funding.

‘Continue to avoid a national lockdown’ narrative...give me strength. Angry

Dinnafashyersel · 17/11/2020 14:44

Bikingbear according to the BBC article about a 1/3 of excess at home is cancer. (This makes intuitive sense to me as I personally know people who died after cancer treatment was stopped due to lockdown / balance of risk due to Covid).

A further 1/4 is "circulatory" also per BBC. This also makes sense to me as I know of people bounced in and out of hospital several times despite heart / stroke signs which would normally warrant admittance and monitoring.

blowinahoolie · 17/11/2020 14:45

You should be a professional minute taker, Statistically lol

Matilda2013 · 17/11/2020 14:46

Nothing about international travel Hmm makes no sense to me

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/11/2020 14:47

I did go "aye, shut up now" and turn it off when she started her usual "hope, future, caring for each other" waffle
Bytheloch · 17/11/2020 14:47

Wow, even confirmed the reason Forth Valley is impacted due to sharing Lanarkshire resources- how does this impact all the Stirlingshire residents and businesses who have been following all the regulations?!

It's all very sobering watching Nicola's speech just moments ago....I can just see level 3 regions going up to level 4 at the next review. Many folk just travelling around still visiting family and friends still.

Belindabelle · 17/11/2020 14:49

Gutted about Stirling. I live in Falkirk area but shop in Stirling.

RaspberryCoulis · 17/11/2020 14:49

Anyone who believes any sort of "evidence paper" from the Scottish government needs their heads read.
