When is the result of the EIS ballot???

That's going to have a bigger influence than anything, to be honest I do not blame the teachers. If an area is bad enough for non essential shops to be closed, why are the schools open?

They've messed around with Glasgow since what Sept 1st?

Not to mention the people who are flouting the rules aren't suddenly going to start following them because its tier 4.

Sorry for the rant, feel better having had a rantSmile

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/11/2020 19:53

I was less ambitious and set my daily target at 6000, I'm just over 9k total for 16 days!

dancemom · 16/11/2020 19:57

What does Level 4 actually entail then?

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/11/2020 20:01

@dancemom

Lockdown lite.

Lockdown with outdoor meetups as we currently have. Back to only take away, non essential shops shut, no gyms, hairdressers etc.

frasersmummy · 16/11/2020 20:01

I have a feeling those of going into tier 4 tomorrow will be in this tier for several weeks. There is no way 2 weeks will be enough to get the numbers to where the scot govt want them to be .

Nope, the people who were meeting mums/sisters/friends in cafes or the shops will just go round to their houses. Maybe just to sit in the garden, but it'll (inevitably) rain so they'll end up in the house. If they do GENUINELY believe that it's visiting others at home that's causing the spread, surely it'd make more sense to open up hospitality? Tier 4 = no home visits, all pubs open as normal. Grin

Cos it's not spreading in schools, oh no.

anon444877 · 16/11/2020 20:05

I don't see why teachers have to muddle on in tier 4 bikingbear either, particularly the ones who are vulnerable or have family that are.

I can see that it's best for parents and kids for schools to stay open, but is it fair if we're again ruining businesses?

Without good data it's a minefield.

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/11/2020 20:05

They can make the numbers pretty much whatever they want them to be by varying the amount of testing/tracing etc. so it is a farce really.

The only numbers of any interest are of those actually ill enough to be hospitalised or dying *because" of covid. We don't get those numbers though.

Rae36 · 16/11/2020 20:08

Also worrying about Ayrshire. If it gets 4'd then that's it till mid December I reckon. Same for all the areas probably. Fucks sake. Also spent yesterday sticking to the rules and sitting with a paloutside in the rain under the gazebo, fire bowl smoking everywhere and not actually giving out any heat because the air was so damp. Should have just sat inside, wouldn't have changed anything.

Bikingbear · 16/11/2020 20:09

Boogiewoogie that's exactly what I mean, the people who are already ignoring the rules aren't going to start following them.

But if the EIS decides Tier 4 = strike action then that might just be the thing that stops Her Maj from going ahead.

Last week she was stopped by the police, NHS and the two Lanarkshire councils.

rookiemere · 16/11/2020 20:45

@Bytheloch that's good news about outdoor sport even in Tier 4 - fingers crossed.
I have to say I'm stunned by some of these step counts. I mean don't you get over 1000 steps even pootling to the kettle a few times. Thankfully rookiedog means we have to go out - even if we've got into a very middle class dilemma where we probably don't need the dog walker any more as a lunchtime walk would be very good for us, but she's so nice and young and we paid through lockdown and now it's so close to Christmas. Anyway the net result is that rookiedog gets taken out minimum three times a day - more if we're forcing the youngling to get some exercise.

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/11/2020 20:54

I don't drink tea :o I don't have my phone on me all the time in the house, but I am about 10 steps to the loo and in order to stop me snacking, I try to take everything I am going to eat or drink (apart from lunch) to my desk so I don't have an excuse to be tempted to have extras.

titsbumfannythelot · 16/11/2020 21:08

But you drink coffee, right?

StoorieHoose · 16/11/2020 21:11

In Stirling awaiting tomorrow's news. My wee granny has tested positive in the care home which has had a huge outbreak in Bannockburn but is showing no symptoms thankfully

With the step count Ive resorted to walking up and down the stairs in a vain attempt to get my steps up.

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/11/2020 21:15

@titsbumfannythelot

But you drink coffee, right?
Nope, I don't drink hot things. I'm a weirdo. It's not a health thing, I just never really have. I can manage an occasional hot chocolate.

I can't stand the smell of tea and coffee gives me a sore stomach and, last time I tried it I had heart palpitations.

btw, i send you a pm yesterday with something you wanted to read.

titsbumfannythelot · 16/11/2020 21:16

You were my spirit animal until the no hot drinks!

Thanks for the pm

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/11/2020 21:21

Sorry about the hot drinks thing. There is really nothing else I can offer on that front :o

titsbumfannythelot · 16/11/2020 21:23

Mulled wine?

Mrsjayy · 16/11/2020 21:25

@Stooriehoose. I'm sorry about your granny hopes she keeps well . My DD stays just behind the home

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/11/2020 21:26

@titsbumfannythelot

Mulled wine?
Oh hell no!!

Plus they put spices and shit in it. I like wine, it tastes nice cold/room temperature and without stuff added.

I drink most alcohol, not a big beer fan but I will drink it. However, I don't like gin...

StoorieHoose · 16/11/2020 21:28

Thanks @Mrsjayy. She's keeping ok apart from being stuck in her room

dementedpixie · 16/11/2020 21:29

@rookiemere outdoor gym/classes still allowed in level 4. Just indoor thats banned.

www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-protection-levels/pages/protection-level-4/

The only days I get decent steps is if I do attack or combat in my living room. Will soon need a new carpet!

toucancancan · 16/11/2020 21:29

Does Tier 4 mean private physics have to shut?

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/11/2020 21:29

Me too @StoorieHoose, hope granny stays well.

The stairs is good but keep thinking I'm going to come a cropper by slipping and falling. Not actually done that since I was a child but really thinking that general anxiety is taking me over. I'm not even scared of covid, no idea what is wrong with me :(

dementedpixie · 16/11/2020 21:31

Physics? @toucancancan
