Love that pp. Totally agree.

titsbumfannythelot · 19/11/2020 20:24

@Bytheloch

Draft regulations or should I say daft regulations re travel ban have been published this evening. We can now be fined for ‘leaving Scotland’ 🤔

As there’s no legal border, other than in the SNP’s wet dreams, I await the installation of road blocks managed by Police Scotland stopping all traffic for ID. I won’t hold my breath.

Can people entering be fined? Asking for a friend with a number of twatty colleagues who visit weekly, stopping those visits would be 👌🏻

I need to travel from Edinburgh to IKEA tomorrow to pick up a click and collect order. Will I get arrested? I'm at the right side of Edinburgh too, it's a 10 minute drive. I could have gone today but I was too lazy.

dementedpixie · 19/11/2020 20:46

Is everything not ok until 6pm tomorrow? I'm going out for my birthday lunch before it all shuts down

Doesn't kick in until 6pm. was originally tweeted as being 6am which is what we were told would be the case for changes - Announced Tuesday and in place from 6am. However, not long after the original tweet it changed to 6pm.
Rae36 · 19/11/2020 20:46

Or will IKEA refuse to give me my wardrobe because they can see from my address that I'm from Edinburgh?

Bikingbear · 19/11/2020 20:51

Fined for leaving Scotland - WTAF?
How much would I love someone to take that to the House of Lords or ECHR.

WouldBeGood · 19/11/2020 20:56

Are people genuinely going to follow these rules?

Possums4evr · 19/11/2020 20:58

How is IKEA not in Edinburgh?

dementedpixie · 19/11/2020 21:03

Maybe she's going to the Glasgow one

Possums4evr · 19/11/2020 21:04

Do you know, Wouldbegood, I'm certainly not going to start debating schools issues on here, but I will absolutely respond when people spread misinformation about what it is actually like (not saying you have). I'm sick of news reports about "teachers' union threatens to strike" (we're currently at the "conducting a survey" stage) voiced over shots of classrooms with about 10 children in them and corridors that have empty spaces. It is not like that at all! I would invite parents to spend a day in a school, except of course we can't have visitors just how and I'm can't fit another adult in my classroom.
It's all a bit shit Sad My own dc are happy to be at school but happiness and safety don't necessarily correlate.

Possums4evr · 19/11/2020 21:07

Yikes just looked it up:
"Edinburgh residents will be banned from visiting sites such as IKEA, Costco and Straiton retail park from Tuesday 24 November." (Tues being when Midlothian moves down to level 2)

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/11/2020 21:07

Edinburgh Ikea is outside the bypass so will be in Midlothian which is Tier 2.

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/11/2020 21:09

@Possums4evr

But then technically Edinburgh residents shouldn't be going into Midlothian at the moment anyway - if we are being totally pedantic - so the Tuesday thing is moot. :o
WouldBeGood · 19/11/2020 21:25

The thing is though @Possums4evr the data doesn’t show massive spread in schools.

I appreciate some teachers are anxious. But I think the fear is disproportionate when looked at objectively.
I’m fat and fifty and it wouldn’t bother me at all to be teaching from the Covid perspective. Though I’d be terrible: I am impatient, and terrified of schools and teachers, gives me flashbacks!

rookiemere · 19/11/2020 21:26

Oh jings @WaxOnFeckOff i was trying to be relaxed about this whole thing - but no Straiton ConfusedShock! I've already promised DS a trip to Nike at the weekend as he needs new joggers.

How the f&£k is that justifiably in the interests of keeping down infection rates? I guess because Scottish people have been fed this myth that 'youse' have it really bad down there. Of course some LAs in England are doing really badly but large parts of the country are doing far better than the Scottish central belt. Since the beginning of September, I've been wondering if it's risky for my df to visit us because he lives in an area with high infections.
WaxOnFeckOff · 19/11/2020 21:33

I'm not telling you not to go to Straiton @rookiemere if someone needs trainers then they need trainers. Smile

I don't do anything that breaks the roolz, but that's not about me thinking they are right, it's just that I can't do the things I would happily do as pubs etc are shut.

rookiemere · 19/11/2020 21:42

But the thing is @WaxOnFeckOff had you not posted that, it wouldn't have occurred to me in a million years that there would be any issue going to Straiton which is 2 miles away from us, whereas I wasn't too sure about South Queensferry but I think it's ok as in City of Edinburgh council area.

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/11/2020 21:47

Wisnae me gov'ner :o

Well was half me and yes, the boundaries are so soft that it's not easy to remember. I have a colleague in Bo ness and I had to look up whether that was Falkirk or west lothian.

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/11/2020 21:50

I lived in Penicuik for a while and used to be able to go during my lunch break to shop in the food hall of Littlewoods (I think) on Princes street and i could get free delivery to my house as it was within their 5 mile limit.

Weird to think now about filling your trolley at lunchtime and them taking it and packing it and delivering it to you when you got home that night :)

WouldBeGood · 19/11/2020 21:51

I’ll just be going anywhere I need to go.

I’ll keep well away from people, wear a magic mask, and wash my hands

I hope so User. As much as Covid needs to be kept under control, peoples freedoms are being destroyed.
