Authoritarian pish could be their tag line

Pootle40 · 19/11/2020 22:35

So if I go to IKEA from fife are they going to ask for proof of address?

ssd · 19/11/2020 22:42

I don't think for minute the polis will be out to lift a middle aged mammy wanting to go to M&S outside her council area, I think we're safe there.
This rule is to stop the caravaners going to tier 2 for a wee break and taking the shitey virus with them.

littlbrowndog · 19/11/2020 22:42

No they won’t thousands of people go to Straiton park every day.

Imagine queues if they stop people.

This really would be a riot

Possums4evr · 19/11/2020 22:43

@rookiemere

Oh jings *@WaxOnFeckOff* i was trying to be relaxed about this whole thing - but no Straiton ConfusedShock! I've already promised DS a trip to Nike at the weekend as he needs new joggers.
There's a Nike outlet in the Craigleith retail park, I've not been in one at Straiton so don't know if it's as good.
WouldBeGood · 19/11/2020 22:51

Why are people listening to this pish?

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/11/2020 22:56

I'm certainly not, i am now actively thinking about where I could go that would break the rules without being an absolute arse to anyone else. Probably for exercise outside my area or something :)

Pootle40 · 19/11/2020 23:00

I'm breaking them on Sunday. Going to a different tier 3 from a tier 3 for a meal

Callisto1 · 19/11/2020 23:00

I just realized that our swimming and food shop will be breaking the rules. And I also wanted to go to Ikea to collect some bits and bobs. They really didn't think this through...

@user1487194234

* Fined for leaving Scotland - WTAF? How much would I love someone to take that to the House of Lords or ECHR.* Would be surprised if we don't see a legal challenge sooner rather than later
I hope so. This is crazy. I really don’t know enough about legal matters but just imposing this without anything going to a vote seems a bit Soviet Union...
Bikingbear · 19/11/2020 23:12

seems a bit Soviet Union...

Very frighteningly so.
I can't believe people are taking this without any sort of protest. But if someone did organize a protest in Glasgow the folks from the Shires wouldn't be able to joint in.

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/11/2020 23:17

We probably need a national demonstration of disobedience.

Although we already have the makings of one with half the country heading to Ikea this weekend.

WouldBeGood · 19/11/2020 23:19

Yep -I’m up for IKEA gate

Callisto1 · 19/11/2020 23:20

I am rethinking my trip since it seems ikea will be too busy! Grin
But we will probably break the rules for our food shop unless the police are out in force!

WouldBeGood · 19/11/2020 23:20

I can hear the people sing, singing the songs of angry women

RaspberryCoulis · 19/11/2020 23:21

Well I won't be sticking to the ROOLZ. Ok I won't be having parties but I wouldn't have been doing that anyway. But if I fancy going into Glasgow for a wander round Pollok park or something I will go.

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/11/2020 23:23

Yes! Next category to take the blame will be very specific and it will be people buying tea-lights and meatballs in ikea. You heard it here first.

AgentCooper · 19/11/2020 23:27

@Bikingbear fuck yes. Stopping people from travelling between council areas is an extremely effective way to prevent them organising and gathering!

I’m in East Renfrewshire and local small businesses are basically putting their stock up on Facebook posts in local groups asking folk to PM if they want to buy anything, mostly jewellers and gift shops. I don’t know how lots of them will survive this right before Christmas. It’s horrible.

WouldBeGood · 19/11/2020 23:29

@AgentCooper yes, it’s the small businesses around me and their posts that have done for me 😢

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/11/2020 23:29

I know we are all having a laugh, but that's the point really isn't it? We are all able to risk assess various activities that break the rules but are actually non risky. Therefore, the excessive rules are meant to stop who? The folk that want to do more risky stuff don't give a fuck and the quiet folks aren't doing anything anyway. All they are doing is radicalising and criminalising perfectly ordinary people.

WouldBeGood · 19/11/2020 23:30

They’d all bought their stock, decorated and prepared. It’s just devastating.

And who believes this will be lifted in three weeks? So everyone will do online shopping.

Bikingbear · 19/11/2020 23:32

Does IKEA have quality bouncersGrin?

Callisto I think its reasonable to go for you essential food shop. Just don't buy clothes. There again did you see the bold Welshman who ventured into Tesco with his mask, boxers and shoes, the Tesco Manager eventually agreed Clothes were essential!😂

Callisto1 · 19/11/2020 23:34

I think a lot of people who don't follow the news will probably not even realize that they are doing something wrong. I mean we regularly go to places just outside the Edinburgh bypass. Until I googled it I had no idea where the boundaries even were.

Bytheloch · 19/11/2020 23:36

Yep, small business love here too. All the decorations up and offers, being polite about it all on social, but off there absolutely dreading what should be their busiest period. So many people working at home this year, it could have been a fantastic run up to Christmas☹️

I will go to my usual out-of-council Tesco on Sunday. We'll be wearing masks, sanitise etc like the good citizens we are.

It's closer and more spacious than the in-council one. We go early and it's never busy, and we can whiz round because we know where everything is and we can get everything in one place. None of these apply to the in-council one.

Then we'll crawl back into our cave for another week.
