where can I see the airport rules?

Day 2 of DD self isolating and no homework being sent. DD is bored stiff. Not sure where else she can find work to do. She refuses to look on bitesize etc because unless the teacher tells her, she's not doing it. Very concerned about her potentially falling behind although obviously safety is important.

@Dinosauratemydaffodils I cannot wear a mask either as I have multiple disabilities.

Callisto1 · 19/11/2020 11:33

Is this 5 day amnesty we're hearing about in any way official? Or just rumours?

I am also of the opinion that Christmas is not worth more lockdown later. Husband's family is far and recently bereaved so if there is a chance we will probably try to visit, but at some level I think it's totally mad.
My family is abroad so no chance till next summer Sad

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 19/11/2020 11:44

I don't understand that link?

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 19/11/2020 11:53

@Iwillneverbesatisfied Have you phoned the school? Maybe she's the only one in a class off so has been missed, or the teacher is also off, so the class has been missed? Worth a call or an email. Smile

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 19/11/2020 12:02

No I haven't emailed the school, think they are sick of me actually (due to non covid related issues!)

WouldBeGood · 19/11/2020 12:07

Everything is just going to be shut for months, isn’t it?

Businesses closing all around me.

Can’t cope with this again

dementedpixie · 19/11/2020 12:07

Do they not use something like Teams? Ds had a little work put on there

Bikingbear · 19/11/2020 12:21

It's an embarrassment we have to pander to people who can't do a small Xmas for once.

Define 'small' Christmas?

People like Dinosaur mum, could really do with some shared joy at Christmas.
My own Mum has also had a rough couple of years, I'd dearly love to be able to share my kids excitement with her, but she's in a bubble with my widowed sibling. Sad

Christmas it what's kept me going these last few weeks.Sad

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 19/11/2020 12:29

Its Google Classroom they use and she's only been given maths homework for the week (which she did in just an hour so it wasn't that much). Her whole class are self isolating and none of them seem to be getting much either. They are all chatting on video and netflixing instead.
www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/edinburgh-news/travel-edinburgh-airport-holidays-not-19301860
Give me strength. Where has our critical thinking gone? A government is telling you that travel to the airport is not permitted. What will be the management here, police at the airport car park asking you to turn around? Presumably only those who live in walking distance of Glasgow, Edinburgh or others will be able to fly?!?! You have to laugh at this, or you’d cry.

‘A joint nations strategy should be for Covid life, not just for Christmas’

I think.

‘A joint nations strategy should be for Covid life, not just for Christmas’

Yes
Bikingbear · 19/11/2020 13:40

I'd say Yes to that too.

The Covid debt will be a national debt not individual nations.

rookiemere · 19/11/2020 14:23

Regarding travel, I think you're allowed to travel and fly out of Edinburgh/Glasgow if you're from a Tier 1/Tier 2 area. Given that Edinburgh's numbers would justify Tier 2 but we're higher because of potential impacts from surrounding area, you'd think an exception would be made, but there we go.

Or even more sensibly, given we're trying to reduce numbers, why not just ban international travel same as England so people can avoid going abroad during this period and hopefully get some sort of a refund.I don't understand how travel deemed to be a UK matter rather than a Scottish one, when travel from England is banned?

Definitely!
Dinnafashyersel · 19/11/2020 14:36

Rookie I don't think that's correct. You're not allowed to travel from a lower tier to a higher tier.

On the other side of the fence if you live in the Glasgow airport vicinity you WILL be able to go a 5 mile walk into Inverclyde under the "reasonable excuse for exercise" exemption (mind and park your car on the boundary though).

backaftera2yearbreak · 19/11/2020 14:40

Your allowed to go from a lower tier to a higher tier if your in transit. Starting and ending journey in tier 1 or 2.

Dinnafashyersel · 19/11/2020 14:47

Just reading through the exemptions you CAN travel into and out of a level 4 area to visit a nursing home or hospital or to maintain a bubble with an extended household.

You can also enter and leave level 4 for all your essential shopping and public services.

You can also use the area as a through route, which I presume actually covers the airport(?)

Sorry - my Allan Ayckbourne brain has engaged again.

Dinnafashyersel · 19/11/2020 14:49

You can actually transit from tier 4 to anywhere you like via any other tier you like as long as you never stop for a non-reasonable excuse.

Arkadia · 19/11/2020 15:08

@bytheloch, amen to that!
I know it is just a dream, but what else can we do?

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/11/2020 15:33

Definitely a lot less red on today's tabby map, but still annoyed that the West was given months worth of high levels before being 4rd and Stirling has a week or two of high levels and also 4rd.

Not good for any area though and in the grand scheme of things completely unnecessary imo. But then it only matters if you due from covid. The hundreds dying every day from other things including the consequences of actions taken don't matter clearly.

AgentCooper · 19/11/2020 15:43

I am so fucking confused by all this. So if I went to Glasgow Central and tried to buy a train ticket to Irvine (which is in tier 3), they would refuse to sell me one at the ticket desk? Or if I tried to buy one from a machine, would it stop me? Or indeed if the machine let me buy one, would the ticket collector chuck me off the train?

Not planning on making this particular journey, just befuddled and curious.

And if we have to stay in local council areas - I am in East Renfrewshire but very close to the Glasgow border. Does this mean I can’t take the bus to go to one of the parks within the Glasgow boundary?

Bikingbear · 19/11/2020 15:55

What??

What's a reasonable excuse never mind non-reasonable?
