The numbers are down - again.

1089 cases today, 1212 a week ago, 1216 a fortnight ago.

29 discharged from hospital since yesterday, 3 fewer in ICU.

Remind me again why we're going into tier 4 tomorrow? Hmm

littlbrowndog · 19/11/2020 15:59

Well ..........

Who knows. Completely bonkers

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/11/2020 16:00

Agent, well there is a big list of reasons you are "allowed" to travel for so they wouldn't not sell you a ticket, you could be travelling for work, to care for someone, to take exercise (though you've to try to stay local). So i guess lots of things are a "reasonable" excuse. As for what is unreasonable? To go to the pub or restaurant in an area they are still open?

In other words, it a farce. And whilst ignorance of the law is no excuse when it comes to breaking it, I guess most people would be able to say they are confused - basically because they are.

Bikingbear · 19/11/2020 16:02

Well done Nikla 4700 more folk out a job - three cheers for Nikla!!

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/11/2020 16:03

I didn't watch the daily party political broadcast update but usually check out the updated numbers. It looks like they just did totals and deaths and didn't break down to the top few "offenders" like they usually do.

Was any reason given for that?

Dinnafashyersel · 19/11/2020 16:03

Agentcooper pretty sure you can use the "Inverclyde exercise" rule outlined above to go to the park in Glasgow.

Just roadtested the ticket to Irvine scenario as my DM is in Ayrshire. She lives on her own so if I want a trip to the beach I could go and see my "extended bubble" by train from Glasgow central.

One of the funnier exemptions is to use the recycling facilities in a tier 4 area if they happen to be more convenient than those in a lower tier area.

(Chris Musson posted the list on twitter but it's probs googleable by now).

Bikingbear · 19/11/2020 16:04

Sorry I jumped the gun they are only 'at risk'

Bikingbear · 19/11/2020 16:09

Dinnafesh - you can maintain support bubble.

Can you got to a different tier 4 area to collect stuff or clear belongings??

Dinnafashyersel · 19/11/2020 16:11

Don't fret about the numbers going down. Next week they start testing all the students again in preparation for the mass exodus. That's bound to find plenty more.

(Pretty sure International students going home for the hols via Edinburgh/Glasgow/Aberdeen is also a "reasonable excuse").

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/11/2020 16:21

Well, you are "allowed" to move home, so I'd say that sounds like it fits?

As long as your excuse (if stopped) is reasonable then you are fine, reasonable can be many things to many people so that'll be the next big thing where people with a clearly reasonable excuse start to fight fines. The ones without one will probably just not pay the fine and nothing will happen anyway.

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/11/2020 16:22

@Dinnafashyersel absolutely as those figures can be manipulated easily by choosing who and where to test and how many to fit whatever narrative you want to give.

NotAnActualSheep · 19/11/2020 16:28

The airport thing is truly weapons-grade batshittery. So an Edinburgh resident can quite legally travel to Edinburgh Airport (non essential travel within your level 3 Council is allowed, albeit with the implied stern glare from NS). They can quite legally go on holiday outside of Scotland or the rest of the UK as the guidance and presumably the regulations don't cover anywhere else (as long as they quarantine if necessary on return to Scotland). But they are "breaking the law" as soon as they leave their council area even though that is in a metal tube, many feet in the air. In what way is this not "transit", given they won't pollute any unsullied level 1 or 2 denizens with their filthy covid-ridden breath. So how can Scotland claim they are protecting Scottish public health by preventing viral spread in Costa del Wherever by banning the non essential trip? I understand it may not be a great idea, virus-wise, but surely that is many miles beyond ScotGov's remit?

littlbrowndog · 19/11/2020 16:33

Maybe we I’ll have to wear wee badges on our coats to say what tier we are in

Then the bad people can been spotted and dealt with.

Is that where we are heading ?

AgentCooper · 19/11/2020 16:35

@Dinnafashyersel it’s madness! My DS is 3 and his favourite place is Irvine beach so we go down for a walk most weekends then drop off shopping for my elderly PILs in Kilwinning. You just know we’d get stopped on the motorway with a toddler in the back 🤦🏻‍♀️

RaspberryCoulis · 19/11/2020 16:38

I suggest yellow stars. Perfect idea for marking out the undesirables. Hmm

To get to my local recycling centre, I have to drive out of East Dunbartonshire through Glasgow city council area and back into East Dunbartoshire. This is NOT ALLOWED. My friend who lives in Killearn (Stirlingshire) is NOT ALLOWED to come into Milngavie/Bearsden for her shopping and is supposed to stay within her council area, instead driving 25 miles to Stirling.

Total and utter bat shit lunacy.

And the bams who have spent the last 6 months having parties aren't paying the blindest bit of attention anyway. But because the numbers are alreasdy coming down, and will continue to do so, Nicola will yet again claim a massive victory and that it's all her doing.

No Edinburgh folk can't, they can only go and look at the airport. Midlothian or East Lothian who are T2 can go on on the plane (even though Nicola doesn't want them to) it's coming back that they might have a problem...:o
WouldBeGood · 19/11/2020 16:46

@AgentCooper dropping shopping to oldsters would count as support to vulnerable people, surely?

IwishIwasyoda · 19/11/2020 17:03

There is a huge push on MN for schools to close which I don't get. 1 case in 3 months at our school ... and not clear if it is an adult or pupil (as we don't get told anything). Could well have been the breakfast club staff for all I know.

Dinnafashyersel · 19/11/2020 17:05

Raspberry whoever drafted the legislation must surely live in East Dunbartonshire. Per my pp trips in and out of area / tier to visit the recycling centre are explicitly permitted. However I should point out my local tip required proof of address and photo ID last time I went. When I moaned back home DH was most unsympathetic cos, like the man at the tip, he assumed I always carry my licence in the car - I don't cos you have 24 hours to provide it if required and it is better for security not to.

Possums4evr · 19/11/2020 17:07

@IwishIwasyoda no there really isn't a push for schools to close, there is a push for schools to become safer which they are not currently.

WouldBeGood · 19/11/2020 17:12

I don’t get this either.. the good news yesterday on school infections is dismissed as fake statistics 🤷🏻‍♀️
Possums4evr · 19/11/2020 17:18

I don't think it was fake, it was just from a period of time before we were in the second wave. And without a proper roll out of testing that would pinpoint asymptomatic cases - even a trial in one school, why on earth hasn't this happened?

WouldBeGood · 19/11/2020 17:20

I do know it does not go well if one enters the schools open/shut/hotbeds of infection or not fray. So I’ll leave that.

Really happy my boy is in school and doing well

Dinnafashyersel · 19/11/2020 17:26

I also have a very very happy DD going off to primary with her friends every day. It makes a huge difference to them all.

AgentCooper · 19/11/2020 17:28

@WouldBeGood probably only DH allowed though, otherwise it becomes a jolly Sad
