Any actual evidence of where transmission occurring in all this or how overwhelmed ICU actually is (compared to last 3 years)?

Saw tv report last night that care workers going into people's homes (usually older people or vulnerable) still not getting regularly tested. Also aware of outbreaks in workplaces and care homes and in hospital.

Re schools we are not told enough information about where transmission is and whether it is adult or pupil. How many have been teachers or after school staff or contractors going into schools - we just don't know

And I think this is why the tier system isn't working. Most of the transmissions are probably work-related. All the people I know who got covid got it through their workplace (Council, hospital, care service, construction)

RJnomore1 · 17/11/2020 16:44

My bloody frustration with the schools (secondary in psrticular) is 2 fold:

The SG are still pretending there’s no transmission there

The schools were prepped for blended learning in june! No one was going back full time, there was 25000 devices locked in a warehouse sg were to distribute (heard no more about them) and rotas were in place for attendance. Then two days before the summer holidays it was all change all bsvk full time.

So now particularly for s4-6 we have children in freezing cold rooms wearing masks with totally stressed out teachers and high levels of self isolation. It’s a royal fuck up. Most schools don’t allow any other adults in so the likes of youth workers , SDS staff etc aren’t able to work effectively. A PROPER blending learning approach (which is not what happened during lockdown) opens all of this up again to children.

AND THE SCHOOLS HAD IT READY IN JUNE.

Fucking spineless idiots in government, we will end up with strikes, teachers leaving in droves, kids just not attending. And I can guarantee you it will be the poorest and the most vulnerable who suffer most because it always is and we already have the evidence of where this pandemic is having most effective.

I am bloody furious about the whole thing. I spend my entire working life trying help make the world a more equal place and this utter incompetence makes me angrier than I can put into words. Not for me; we are fine and my kid will be fine but for the bloody shambles unfolding around me.

I’m off to pour a gin until I stop swearing.

That's exactly what I said earlier. I'm in retail and staff aren't social distancing properly. You can see it in any shop you go into. People become complacent at work, it's hard to not feel comfortable and chat as normal with colleagues.

Wbeezer · 17/11/2020 16:47

The outbreak in Stirling is centred on a care home and a meat processing factory.
@Belindabelle you're complaining about Falkirk shops, my only option is Alloa!
Not looking forward to telling DS1 that it is now against the law to visit his girlfriend in Fife.
Our council ward has zero cases again this week.

Callisto1 · 17/11/2020 16:59

Ugh, so now Lothian will have 3 different tiers. That's kinda hilarious. And who on earth is going to control where people shop given that people commute for work. This will just encourage everyone to pile into shops and pubs in places which are open. I predict the low virus levels in east and midlothian are about to rise! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Matilda2013 · 17/11/2020 17:01

I don't go on holiday till 14th December so still in limbo. But in current restrictions she's made it illegal for me to go to Glasgow Airport (since it is not actually in Glasgow) but technically I can stil fly to Tenerife once I'm in the airport.

WouldBeGood · 17/11/2020 17:02

@Justmuddlingalong

I've tried to remain optimistic about the whole shitshow, but today I just feel done. I'm generally a glass half full person, but I'm really at the "what's the point" stage. My mood is unsettling me.
Me too. I feel quite scared. I went quite mental last time and have dragged myself back up.

It’s the lack of evidence and reason that gets me.

WouldBeGood · 17/11/2020 17:03

She can’t close the English border.

WouldBeGood · 17/11/2020 17:04

@Matilda2013 I’m thinking I might go on holiday to escape. If I’m locked up anyway I might as well quarantine.

WouldBeGood · 17/11/2020 17:05

@Bikingbear

What a fucking disaster.

I hope to God that SNP are out on their arrse come May. Labour get your act together so folk will vote for you.
Too many won't vote Tory just because.

I really hope so too.
nibdedibble · 17/11/2020 17:06

It’s all so confusing. Glasgow and surrounds needed stronger measures weeks ago (like in Aberdeen in August) and absolutely everyone needs motivation to comply. I’m gutted to read about folk whizzing off here and there just because it’s Sturgeon telling them and not someone else. We all mistrust politicians but look this is who we have in charge, U.K.-wide they are shit but that doesn’t make the virus less transmissible sadly.

As for school, can’t believe they aren’t moving to home learning in 3 & 4. Our school hasn’t been badly hit (think just 7 identified cases since start of term) and I feel for everyone whose kids are in and out of quarantine. Feel for the teachers who are working so hard.

I wish we could get more clarity from FM but I guess Glasgow being 3 for so long was political and clarity will never be a politician’s way. Wish everyone was on the same page still, this is miserable.

Matilda2013 · 17/11/2020 17:06

@WouldBeGood I was kind of hoping they would cancel it for us as it means no hassle over Covid testing and no worrying about whether it's cancelled or not. I just want a definite answer. This living in limbo isn't great and I'm honestly not fussed anymore.
Also there isn't quarantine from Tenerife anymore (for now!)

littlbrowndog · 17/11/2020 17:09

We can’t be on same page until we are told with clarity what page we are on and why we are on it

There’s no clarity at all from SG

just heard a friend lost his job in catering. 😥

Bikingbear · 17/11/2020 17:09

Also there isn't quarantine from Tenerife anymore (for now!)

Well that just sounds like a plan let's have the whole of Lanarkshire and Glasgow have mass exodus to see the sunSmile
And lockdown means it's not going to matter when you get back if you need to quarantine or not. Grin

Yes! Exactly!

Never been to Tenerife... 😃

WouldBeGood · 17/11/2020 17:12

I’m not on the same page as their measures are illogical and not evidence based. And are disproportionate to the harm caused

nibdedibble · 17/11/2020 17:15

🙁 People going on holiday has been a massive driver for the latest wave of infections. I don’t think it’s the middle finger to the SG that folk might wish it was

nibdedibble · 17/11/2020 17:16

I totally agree
Thistlegirl4 · 17/11/2020 17:17

Can she actually do that, put a travel ban into law without proper consultation etc? And, if she does how would it be enfored, will the police stop every single car going in and out of these tiers or over the border? Is she going power crazy now completely? Whatever happened to common sense 🤷‍♀️

nibdedibble · 17/11/2020 17:17

I just wish they’d done it sooner and we’d be getting out of the ‘harm caused’ phase (given that you can’t have no coronavirus and no economic/psychological harm)

HakeCod · 17/11/2020 17:41

@Belindabelle

I have family in Falkirk and I agree in regards to retail (there were many more shops 10 years ago).

I think in terms of restaurants/bars, Falkirk has a lot of really good options though. Plenty of good restaurants and some decent bars now also.

RaraRachael · 17/11/2020 17:56

So sorry for people who have been moved into tier 4. We are still in 1.5 with no chance of visiting in people's homes. If they think we are going to meet outdoors they're dafter that I thought.

Enough is enough - does anybody apart from the delusional SG actually think this is going to work because, let's face it, they've tried umpteen other schemes, none of which have been a success.

How on earth many businesses are going to go to the wall and people reach breaking point before they realise the damage they are doing?

All I can hear is the shouts of f** Communist!!!

The more they say and do the more my eyes are being opened

BlueThursday · 17/11/2020 17:59

I work in financial services and I lie awake worrying about customers and whether they’ll survive this. We are working up to 7 days a week every week to get money out the door and it’s still not fast enough

I’m absolutely shattered. We’ve had to rent a flat for DH so he can isolate for spending about 2 hours in Denmark, my dads been in hospital for 7 weeks but when he comes out I won’t be able to see him still

I’m honestly ready to give up

Bikingbear · 17/11/2020 18:07

Blue Thursday, I hope you get to see your DDad soon. Flowers

You worry enough going to visit poorly people incase you pass them any bugs without the whole Covid thing too.
